There are many student services available at the Valle Verde Early College High School.
Such services are available both during and after school. It would be beneficial to enhanced student success to add hands on career service that consists of volunteer parents and community members to provide hands on insight in the many jobs and careers available. This type of service would lend itself to internship and volunteer hour opportunities in various areas. It would allow students to network and gain experience in a natural employment setting. This kind of service would not only help students prepare for a long term career journey, but it would help the parents and volunteers in the community get an insight into the preparedness of the young individuals

But is that enough to prepare him to do that job on his own? Career days at school allow for people in different jobs to present in front of a group of students and give details as to why that job is the best in the world, but again, does that presentation provide the details of a bad day in that job? Students need to know what the real world dictates. They need to know that in real life, they may go to an interview and be the best candidate and still get passed up for the job. They may interview for a job and be deemed over qualified or under qualified and never get the feedback.
The resource center presented in this proposal would allow for preparation of the real world from real people with real problems. It would help explain why the secretary from twenty years ago using her typewriter cannot compete with the executive assistant today creating spreadsheets on a computer. And it will help explain why the executive assistant today needs to grow and develop her skills to compete with the Business Aide of tomorrow.
A current program available at the campus today is the Job Fair. This resource is insufficient for the younger students at the high school for several reasons. First, this fair is
Ralph and simon that the rest of the kids horesplay was a bad idea. In the novel Golding writes, “Shouting that he is the beast, the boys descend upon Simon and start to tear him apart with their bare hands and teeth. Simon tries desperately to explain what has happened and to remind them of who he is, but he trips and plunges over the rocks onto the beach. The boys fall on him and violently kill him” ( ). This just goes to show us that the other boys’ horseplay and beliefs lead to bad things. Ralph did not take part in this act because he knew what was wrong.
Ralph was the most sensible to me and I related to him on so many levels one of his is main objective was to keep order in the group. Ralph quickly becomes the group's leader being described as tall for his age and handsome, he looks over the other boys with a sense of maturity. Although Ralph isn’t as smart as Piggy, he is calm and rational and has moral judgment. Ralph remains the most civilized character even after the deaths of Simon and Piggy. Ralph represents enlightened instinct.
Starting with the main characters, Ralph, quickly becomes the chief of the group, not by any harsh, overt, or physical action, but by being elected. Ralph is described as having "the directness of genuine leadership", therefore he suggests that a fire be lit as a signal. However, he seems to forget the initial reason for maintaining the fire. This is representative of the debilitating effects corruption has on even the most benevolent of men. Ralph may seem to mean well, but often his obsession with being popular overcomes him and he resorts to bullying Piggy to regain his power. Therefore, Ralph can be understood to symbolize mankind's optimistic ambition to self-govern despite its historical record of failure and abuse of
Growing up I always had to deal with the fact that my father was involved in the military. My father was deployed twice: once in Germany, and later to Kuwait. I was only four years old when he first traveled and almost every day I asked where dad was. The second time I was fourteen, and I was devastated that my best friend wasn’t going to be home for a year. Both times he left, it was awful for my mom, my brother, and me because he was the one person that kept us together as a family and once he was gone we were just broken. A military family goes through more than a regular family does in a year. Those veterans have families, how do people think they feel. Children who live in a military family have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, and other mental issues. Although many people believe that we should send our soldiers overseas to keep our country safe, there is no reason why our
However, at the end of the book, he simply stood for a common human being. In the beginning of the story, before a formal introduction, Ralph was described simply as “a fair boy.” This already sets him out in a favorable light. Then it further describes how he is apparently good-looking and has the natural air of leadership. Of course, the conch played a big role when the kids voted him for leader, but his appearance played a large role as well. For the good first part of the book, Ralph has always symbolized leadership. As the story progresses and the kids became more and more distant from the idea of civilization, Ralph became more like a representation of common sense. Golding wrote, “‘I was chief, and you were going to do what I said. You talk. But you can’t even build huts-then you go off hunting and let the fire-’ He turned away, silent for a moment. Then his voice came again on a peak of feeling. ‘There was a ship-’” At this part, Ralph criticized Jack for not doing the necessary civilized things in favor of quenching his thirst for a hunt. As more and more of the kids become more and more uncivilized, Ralph became one of the last voices of common sense. When Simon and Piggy died, Ralph was the last one who retained that common sense and yearned for civilization. He had no leadership powers left anymore, and he stood for nothing more than a
Simon has a spiritual perception, a mystical connection to nature that none other characters possess. He also makes it clear that the beast real identity is the evilness which exists inside everyone. Finally, Simon treats other characters, especially the little boys with kind manners and shows interest in their well-being, contrasts to the cruelty of Jack and many boys who have let their savagery rule over them. After his death, Golding then shift the focus from Simon’s body toward the unchanging nature, such as the sun, moon, and earth that is because the character Simon, represents a knowledge as fundamental as the natural

Homelessness is a condition of people without a regular residence. People who are homeless are usually unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure, and adequate housing. Homeless people constitute a demographically diverse population, and the situation is a critical problem in United States. The homeless are known as “the wondering poor”, “sturdy beggars”, and “vagrants”. This condition often occurs due to poverty, but this is only one of many reasons a person can be homeless. In addition to poverty, homelessness occurs as a result of drugs, mental illness, disasters such as hurricanes, or even domestic abuse. It is not a criminal activity.
Community colleges in California should offer two years of free education to students that are responsible. First, by making community college free for two years, struggling low income families can get a two year education at their local community college. By going to a free college people can save money for two years and transfer out to a better college with the money that they have saved. More student will switch from expensive colleges, and come to a less expensive college and acquire their Associate's degree. Next, some of the students will realize that they are going to graduate from an expensive college, and they are going to leave with a diploma and a huge debt in loans. Some people just need an Associate's Degree to get the job that they want and people can get that in two years. For example to become a police officer, people need an Associate's degree, and be twenty one years of age. Last, the crime in the cities will be reduced if community colleges would offer free education. Most people that are in the streets doing bad things are the ones who dropped out of high school because college was going to be too
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
Imagine entering into a new country with no say, and having little to no knowledge on the culture, people, or language. Some kids are brought at such a young age that they are able to grasp what is taught easier, but others are brought at an older age where it becomes difficult to learn a whole new language and culture. Most manage to overcome these obstacles and at times are awarded valedictorian in their class. Sadly, when the time comes to follow their educational paths these students are turned down because of their immigration status. I not only have friends and family members who have gone through such unfortunate events, but I myself am currently living through this situation. This is why I believe that all college students should have the same benefits regardless of citizenship status because it will let more kids pursue an education path, will help increase graduation rates, and will facilitate economic growth.
Volunteerism, civic engagement and advocacy are the driving forces for creating change and making a positive impact in your community and society at large. While gaining internship and job experience can lead to community impact and social change, it’s important for us to remember that before we start advocating for change and informing others about issues we care about, we need to fully understand the complexity and depth of the social, environmental, or economic issue we are passionate about.
inancial stability has often been a pressing issue concerning the United States. Social welfare began as a federal government assistance to the poor, unemployed, and underemployed. Its mission aimed to provide financial aid to struggling families who were unable to provide basic necessities for themselves or their dependent children, until they were able to become fiscally independent. The need for welfare peaked in the 1930s with the Great Depression as millions of people were left unemployed due to the stock market crash. The broken economy led to the creation of these government policies. However, the mission and goal of welfare has seemed to have been altered in the past 80 years. It has become a policy of unintended consequences, creating dependency which is detrimental to generations of families who then become accustomed to welfare and know of nothing else. There are currently an estimated 4,300,000 people on welfare, 46,700,000 on food stamps, and the amount of government spending on welfare has risen $430 billion dollars in the past 13 years . These rising numbers are a concern, not only for those who identity as one of the numbers, but for those who pay the government in taxes to keep those on welfare afloat. Welfare reform is vital to ensure that the economy of future generations will not be jeopardized.
Public assistance is a fair and non-discriminating form of assistance offered to whom qualifies for it. The open support is for those who need it, or those who pay taxes for others to apply it to what the individual is in need of. Social Welfare is a disposal program that gives cash, medical insurance, beneficial consideration, provisions, housing, and different things that individuals require so as to endure life disadvantages. Individuals who can get assistance from these welfare projects are children, older folks, disable, and other people who can 't help their families on their current salary. At first it worked primarily to provide federal grants to the states to maintain mothers with dependent children. The program works with individuals
One of the biggest staples of the educational community, as well as the biggest fear of any high school student, is the assignment of homework for students to complete. Homework has become such a central part of our educational society that kindergarten students at the age of four and five are being assigned homework by their teachers. Everyone who has ever experienced the American educational system is more than familiar with homework, and just how annoying it can be. Asking just about any student if the homework given to them helps them learn will result in the answer, no. I do not believe that to be the case however. I think there is an underlying problem in the idea of homework, and that it starts in the classroom. Often times, and I can
