Over the course of time. Street racing has been allowed in the main streets or highways with minimal surveillance or any consequences at all. It almost seemed like no one was taking action in what escalated into a huge problem this year of 2017. Luckily there is various ways to help minimize the negative affects it's having in these communities. A solution to what continues to concern many can be treated as a crime. As humans we know what's right from wrong and people tend to avoid situations that can be considered a crime. The seriousness of the consequences is what everyone fears, no one wants to have a bad record, they want to be “clean.”Another way this rebellious act can continue to decrease is by having strict life changing consequences, example if you get caught street racing then you will be charged with a conviction similar to a Dui. …show more content…

In the latest years, greyhound racing has gained negative media attention, whereas in 2015 the abc four corners revealed that several owners and trainers were using live baits as a training form for the dog to gain a competitive advantage (Hanna, & Clark, 2015). Another issue concerning the sustainability of the industry is the mass greyhound killings because they were considered too slow (Hanrahan, 2016). Due to all the issues concerning the industry, New South Wales were set to ban Greyhound racing in 2016. Nevertheless, the ban got overturned due to political populism and the economic benefits and the numerous livings the sport provides for. Life on the Road It’s fair to say that life on the road is something most people do not desire, as a way to live out their days; but a young man named Chris McCandless believed it was necessary to avoid the venomous grips of society. McCandless goes as far as to venture out to the rest of the United States and even crossing borders to achieve his true destination, Alaska. He shows us living such a life can hold many unique and wonderful experiences.
Have you ever been to a horse race? Seeing the riders give their horses a pat and an apple after the race, people cheering for their horse as it runs rapidly to the finish line? Seems like a great time. But what happens to those horses after they are done their race. What happens to the people who gambled their family’s lives savings. All horse racing should be shut down due to the well being of the horses, the effects of gambling, and the lack of interest.
In the 21st century, our nation is facing a major issue, causing teenagers to lose their lives at the hand of the wheel due to inexperienced driving. “Teen drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 are four times more likely than older drivers to be involved in an automobile crash,” and statistics show. Automobile accidents are the number one cause of teen deaths. Driving regulations are in high need to be changed in order for teenagers to gain more experience with driving before taking the driving test, which could help save countless adolescence’s lives.
In the world of the multi-billion dollar racing industry, it is important for those involved to understand the factors that will determine successful racehorses. Racing supports people in their livelihoods, and successful horses result in a lot of money. Although it is universally accepted that the greatest factors that result in success for racehorses are breeding and training, I argue that other factors, such as experience, timing, and luck play a big role in their success as well.
Imagine that you’re a parent and your child has gone to the movies with a couple of friends, but it’s almost twelve o’clock and your child hasn’t responded to calls or text messages from you. You start to panic because your child could be hurt, lost, somewhere they are not suppose to be, or in danger. If you had installed a GPS tracking device in your child’s car, you would be able to know exactly where they are and how fast they are going no matter if they call or text you back. This is why I believe that every parent should be permitted to installing a tracking device in their child’s car.
"Several cities and counties have successfully addressed their legal street racing problems by creating their own, or in collaboration with other organizations, a legal racing venue. This is intended to divert people to a safer racing enviorment, which allows racers to experience some positive aspects of the legal drag racing..." ("Responses to the Problem of Street Racing") Many people are not fully informed about the sport of drag racing so here is a little bit of information. In 1947, Wally Parks, a military tank test-driver for General Motors who served in the army in the South Pacific in World War II, helped organize the Southern California Timing Association and later became its general manager. In 1949, the Southern California Timing Association held the "Speed Week" in Bonneville Salt Flats, this event is what started "drag racing" or racing "against the clock" as some like to say. The first drag strip, the Santa Ana Drags, began running on an airfield in Southern California in 1950 and quickly gained popularity among the Muroc crowd because of its revolutionary computerized speed clocks. When Parks became editor of the monthly enthusiast magazine Hot Rod, he had the forum and the power to form the National Hot Rod Association in 1951 to "create order from chaos" by instituting safety rules and performance standards that helped legitimize the sport. He was its first president. (NHRA) Though police believe drag racing encourages illegal street racing, drag racing provides a safe legal way to race and actually discourages street racing.
Everyday there are people who commute on streets and highways, they are trying to get to where they want to go. The biggest dilemma is ‘how’ they get to their destination not many of us pay attention, but 97% of us drive with distractions. The other percentages consists of six consequently dangerous ways, which include, texting, drinking, applying makeup, reading, eating, and arguing with others while behind the wheel. All of these are very hazardous, costly, and sadly deadly. Distracted drivers put lives in jeopardy everyday and if a ticket saves a life, then it would be worth it and hopefully make the person realize that the text can wait. Some may say that teenagers are the more prone to be distracted while behind the wheel but its not just them, everyday people are susceptible to this, moms, dads, businessmen, etc. it is irresponsible of any person not including, police officers who pull over and park their cruiser so they may use any device they have. Not every state has laws to prevent all forms of distractions behind the wheel. But there are a some laws that ban Driving while intoxicated and texting while in school zones. Equestrian Riding, also known as horseback riding is a sport. Some people may argue that is not because they think the horse is doing all of the work. However that is not true. Confucius once said, "he who does not do well is less guilty than he who pushes too hard." People found that competitive sports are often physically straining and it is detrimental to proper emotional development. This blows away the misconception that competitive sports create a healthy and engaging atmosphere for kids. This and an overly strong obsession with winning create a toxic mix for the child’s wellbeing. People have begun to realize the world of competitive may be doing more harm than good for their children. Parents have also begun to notice that competitive sports often injure their children severely and also make the child feel left out, which in turn is detrimental to the child 's emotional health. Therefore, competitive sports
According to many, are laws are not as strict as they should be. “Our current laws are woefully inadequate.” (Winsten, 2015, pg. 1) No one will get even a day or two behind bars for getting caught on the highway with a phone in their hands, looking at the screen for hundreds of yards without looking up, endangering everyone around them. This is how nasty accidents happen, and it is hard to tell whether or not an accident will kill someone, so why even take the risk? The death toll is scarier than people may think. “Each day in the United States, on average, eight families bury a loved one killed by a distracted driver.” (Altschiller, 2017, pg. 1) Additionally, while teenagers, seemingly harmless, have contributed the most towards this horrid statistic. The deaths caused by teens are mostly due to poor driving skills and a lack of attentiveness on the road. “Ten percent of all drivers aged 15-19 involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration.” (Altschiller, 2017, pg. 2) Fortunately, there are people that know of the consequences to come. “Without a seismic change in driver attitudes, the situation will only worsen, says James: ‘Every generation is going to be more aggressive, more competitive and more
The Daily Mile? Have you heard of it? Probably not. Take an educated guess. Ok, I’ll tell you then. Encouraging children to keep fit - that’s all I’m going to tell you, for now. But what I will tell you, is that it is necessary. It needs to be introduced. And, in my view, it should be compulsory!
One of my friends and I's favorite past times is paintball. From the adrenaline pumping into your veins, to the stupid crazy things we do while we are fighting. As long as we have the time and the money to play this sport, we will continue to play. It has brought my friends and I together, and has only made us come together as a group. Even when we were put against each other we still had a fun time playing paintball. It is truly an exhilarating sport. With tons of different people joining along with you coming with different and innovative gear, and coming from all around the world. This is one of the many ways this game is unique.
