With the many school shootings that have happened, students can have a hard time focusing in class and worrying about their school being next. Students that have gone through a school shooting have been traumatized by what happened and too fragile to speak about not only losing students, teachers, and staff, but also the sense of school not feeling safe anymore. Recovery after just going through a school shooting won’t be easy on the students involved, their test scores lower years after attending the same high school.
Many states have already passed the law of allowing trained teachers to be armed under certain ground rules. As well as teachers being armed, security can also surround the school, and the entrances can be rebuilt so unfamiliar

A school shooting can happen anytime which is why school’s with low security may never be prepared. Students trying to learn don’t deserve to feel scared everyday of their life at school.
People may never understand the nerves that races through your body knowing there is an intruder in the school, that feeling of wondering if this will be the very last day, hearing gunshots, and realizing the school you once remembered to be, will never be the same again. Not only students, teachers, staff, etc worried about their safety but, families at home can also worry about what can happen to their kids, husband, wife, etc. Fear is the last emotion anyone would expect to feel at school, which is why no one at school deserves to feel that way.
An administrator coming onto the intercom saying the school is going to be on lockdown or to evacuate is devastating and frightening. The students trying to learn and get their education doesn’t deserve to suddenly get interrupted by the fear that has become the whole school. The sense of seeing school shooting all over the news then it happens to one’s school is really terrifying because, it’s something you never saw coming. No one deserves to ever feel that grief from school shooting, the feeling of agony knowing you lost your son or daughter from an intruder coming to
The history of school shootings has shown an increase in mass school shooting. The very first known school shooting in the United States occurred on July 26, 1764 in present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania. As part of the Pontiac's Rebellion, four Lenape Native Americans entered the school house and started shooting, killing the schoolmaster Enoch Brown and about nine students. Only two students survived the massacre (“History”). Since the 1700s the United States society has changed in many ways. Schools have become more than just one room school houses and each grade has its own teacher. Furthermore, the problem of school shootings has not decreased but rather increased over the years. On the one hand, reports from the Centers for Disease Control showed that in general school violence decreased from 1992 to 200...
The safety of fifteen or more students would be much more easily secured by one person if that person was armed. Promoting teachers to arm themselves also prevents school shootings; criminals don’t attack a victim that can fight back. At least 60% of school attacks would be prevented with an armed faculty warning sign. School faculty members should be armed to secure the safety of the country's students, and to prevent the majority of potential shootings.
Which can be having armed officers walk though halls, making sure the school is safe from any harm that could potentially happen.
It is a sad time in American history when one can easily recount recent school shootings in their own area. This ease stems from a sharp increase in the number of firearms brought into elementary and middle schools across the country, with an intense focus on the issue beginning after the shooting of 20 children from Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Most school shooters are male, white, and often upper middle class. They are also more, often than not, under some type of mental stress that is causing them to create this type of violence in our communities. In fact, many school shooters are never suspected of doing any harm to their peers and teachers until it is much too late.
School shootings are still happening and we have to put a stop to it. We need to have these teachers prepared and ready to fight. Students to deserve to have their lives out to rest knowing something could have been done that’s why we need to have these teachers armed. This is a cold world if someone enters a school with a weapon teachers need to have their weapon ready too for the sack of their children. A school is a fun place to learn but to also keep safe. This is why teachers should be armed.
I was watching TV with my friends kids and attempting to find a movie they might enjoy. Unluckily for the children I had to pass by consecutive news channels. At first I passed by quickly through the first three channels but then I noticed the rest of the news channels that I did happen to glimpse had headlines saying school shooting. I couldn't help but watch the news for a bit to fully understand the situation. I discovered that many young children at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut had been shot and died. I was saddened because of those children and parents who had to live through that experience.
There are plenty of ways we can prevent school shootings and one of them is by adding more school security officers. If there is more security, then it would be easier for them to give a warning when there could be a pote...
On April 16th, 2007 Cho had created one of the most deadly school shootings in America. ( "Virginia Tech Shootings Fast Facts." CNN.) It was unfathomable to think that in the close future, America would encounter many more detrimental school shootings. This is including the shooting of elementary students in Newtown, CT where Adam Lanza had shot and killed 27 children and faculty. Lanza had been known to have significant health issues that had kept him from living a normal life. (Sanchez, Ray, Chelsea J. Carter in Atlanta, Yon Pomrenze in New York, and The CNN New York Bureau Staff. ) Both of these shooters had killed themselves shortly after their attacks. School violence has become a nation-wide issue.
Two students killed and thirteen others left wounded, six schoolmates shot by fellow classmate, 13 people dead and 23 wounded in a High School, Four girls and a teacher are shot to death and 10 people wounded during a false alarm in school…Those were the headlines of all newspapers at one time or another. High School shootings have been occurring throughout the United States. Why is it that a student would come into their school and open fire? Why is it that no one notices the signs before the incident? How is it possible that they were able to bring the firearm into the school? Those are some questions people need answers to, especially those concerned with what will happen next.
The schools had also brought in school officers to have on school grounding during school hours. They feel that they need these type of secured to have their children protected. Parents feel a little say knowing that there is a police in school patrolling. In several school they have started to do searches to make sure no one is bring anything dangerous that could harm a person. This is super important to makes sure no weapons are on school grounds. Schools have also put on their policy that if any weapon is found on the person’s possession there could be serious
No one can really give a definite answer for why school shootings actually occur. We look for clues and patterns to help to look inside the mind of those who do go into schools to kill others. First let us look at the Columbine shooting. The two reasons that were most believed in why Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed thirteen students and their own were because they were bullied and wanted to get back at the guys who hurt them throughout high school. The other reason was we would never know. It was just a freak thing that could not be explained. The two killers wanted to be legends. They wanted to cause the most deaths in American History. They did wire the bomb properly so they were not able to kill as many people as they had planned. The bomb in the cafeteria would have killed at least six hundred people. The survivors were supposed...
There have been 175 school shootings in the United States since 2013 (175 School Shootings). Mass school shootings have become an immense problem in America in the past few decades. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of cases of school shootings and this is becoming a problem in society and a problem for school children and staff. There are too many people who are able to map out a plan and shoot innocent school children. Too many lives are being taken due to school shooters and America as a whole needs to come up with a plan to stop such crimes. The problem with school shootings will never be fully eradicated, however, there are measures we can take to prevent these actions by creating stricter gun laws, becoming more aware of unusual behavior, and providing better security in schools.
A seemingly normal school day in Newtown, Connecticut, who knew that it would turn into one of the most devastating days they would ever experience. About two years ago, students at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, were involved in the most devastating event of the year. According to an article by the Huffington Post, a mentally troubled man in his twenties named Adam Lanza shot 20 children and six staff members, with his mother’s weapons. His mother had apparently grown up with guns and thought it would be good to have them in their house. Prior to driving to the school, he even shot his mother, but his motive is unknown.
Last Thursday, October 1st, 2015, I sat in the Student Center lobby at Spring Hill College watching in horror as the FOX Ten breaking news reporters revealed the horrifying details of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. As the utter shock of this news ricocheted through the room, I couldn’t help but think that these innocent college students were challenging themselves to make an impact in the real world. They were simply going about their busy day, when in the blink of an eye, their lives were taken from them. Passing midterms, graduating, thinking about the future- these are the things college students should be worried about, not being anxious wondering if their institution will be the next victim of yet another school shooting. Today, law enforcement officers are killed, children are murdered, gang shooting and mass murders happen daily, yet the sad part is, we, as Americans, pretend it doesn’t happen.
Some school are making their school a gun free zone. However, it is true that some people try to attack gun free zone because they know that no one has a gun to kill them back. Even people call the police, it takes time for the police to come and shooting does not take that much time to kill people. To solve this problem I think the campus safety should carry guns. Also, teachers may have a right to have guns, too. When the shooter comes into the classroom the teachers are the only adult that could protect the students. To protect children they all have to be trained how to use the gun. Also it is necessary for teachers and campus safety to have a mental health care periodically. There are many scientist who are researching about what kind of people tend to become mental illness and when do they become so. Unfortunately there is no strong evidence so, it is very important to watch out for the mental health of people who carries
