Safety on College Campus’

A college students health and safety is one of the most important parts of their college life without it would they have the college experience? It is unpredictable as to when you are liable to be in any danger and knowing your surroundings is the key to being safe. Especially starting out as freshman it is best to respectfully decline having any information or photos published for any reason on campus for it isn't uncommon for upperclassmen and fraternities to use this information to “target” naive freshman. When entering college it essential for students to be aware of their surroundings and where the emergency phones are. The UCA’s police department has 27 sworn officers who work to promote safety on campus. To maximize safety on campus lock your doors when ever you leave, walk in well lighted areas at night when walking with friends. If desired a UCA police will escort you on campus. All exterior doors are locked 24 hours a day for your protection so do not prop open the doors. Refrain from or minimize the use of alcohol. Alcohol plays a significant role in date rapes, fights and battery incidents, vehicle accidents and other serious …show more content…

The UCA Police Department is located on campus at 6 W J Sowder St, or directly between Estes Stadium and Christian Cafeteria. Persons needing EMERGENCY assistance any time may call the University Police CommCenter by dialing 9-1-1 from any campus or residence hall telephone. If it is not an emergency assistance can be obtained by calling 450-311, the police can also be summoned by pushing the call button on any blue light emergency telephone located throughout campus. For other assistance on health and safety a local access telephone and a reference center of free crime prevention, safety, and health brochures located in the lobby. The UCA police department also provides self defense classes throughout the school year or as need to groups of people looking to learn techniques in order to protect themselves and everyone
