Oceans are the largest bodies on the planet and contain 71% of the total surface area on the globe. Thousands of species inhabit the bodies of water that are found off of the coast of continents. Many of the species of life that are found off the coast have been fished for thousands of years for their luscious meats found beneath their scaly skin. Many fish have been seen as a delicacy in some parts, such as the Bluefin Tuna which can be sold for up to $176,000! With something like this, there is always going to be someone preparing to get there hands on these riches of the ocean for cheap or no-cost at all. This leads to overfishing and Illegal fishing. But this may soon no longer be a view held by everyone if the WA government continues to support and allow the shark culling off Perth's major beaches. Hi I'm Maya Koentgen, a marine biologist, ecologist and fellow beach user, and I'm here to tell you why shark culling needs to stop. At the moment hundreds of innocent sharks are being caught and killed and why? Because they are simply swimming in their own homes that us humans have invaded.

This is because there are hardly any laws or restrictions telling them where they can and cannot fish. Sally Driscoll and Tom Warhol report in, ‘Overfishing’, that itt wasn’t until 1956 where we saw our first regulation, the United Nations organized the first UN Convention of the Law of the Sea or the NCLOS which helped promote rights of all countries by establishing boundaries off shore. Meaning that some seafood fished in certain areas of the ocean cannot be sold in certain countries, and in some areas it is illegal to fish unless you have a permit from that country. Everybody has one thing in the world that they feel strongly about. Weather if it is a stuffed animal, person, or a job. We all praise something. I believe that we need to stop whaling. Every day whale after whale die. Why? Just because people want their meat and to make oil and some money. We need to find a way to stop these terrible Pandemic. There has to be another way to make money and oil than killing this marvelous animal. If this was happening to you what would you want to do to stop this?

However, hunting is a very controversial topic, for some might consider it very harmful and dangerous for the environment. Although this point of view is adopted by a part of the society, one can counter it with a numerous reasons. Hunting provides several benefits for those who partake in it and for the environment as well.

In the documentary Blackfish, the director and writer Garbriela Cowperthwaite (2013) tackles the topic of animal captivity. Within the film Cowperthwaite specifically examines the captivity of orcas at Seaworld. Cowperthwaite's film argues against Seaworld's procedures regarding orcas. Garbriela Cowperthwaite effectively persuades the audience by providing video evidence and including varying interviews.
Conservationists and the ranchers that are having financial issues caring for their animals, without utilizing hunting, can take advantage of other resources to gain revenue. The ranch operators need to find alternatives to gain a source of income such as acquiring sponsors, donations, conducting guided tours or perhaps, providing educational programs. There are more humane methods of earning money than the killing of animals. The summer blockbuster hit, Jaws, sparked a vilification of sharks that has spread throughout the world. Following Jaws, sharks fell victim to the stereotype of the horrendous man-eating creatures which needed to be annihilated. Because of public opinion on sharks, the hunting and finning of sharks has gone unnoticed for years, becoming a significant problem in our oceans.
In the primitive years of cinema black characters were subjected to use of several stereotypes. These stereotypes were used in a cookie cutter type manner, with black characters playing almost the same roles in film. Donald Bogle a scholar in this field defined many of these stereotypes used in cinematic films. The film The Littlest Rebel by Edwin J. Burke used many of these stereotypes but one of the most prevalent categories of stereotyping was the coon. This was one of the most degrading of all the black stereotypes used in film at the time. Defined by Donald Bogle, the Coon was a source of comic relief and depicted to be unreliable, crazy, lazy, and a stumbling, stuttering idiot (Bogle, 7-8). In the film, The Littlest Rebel (1935), the character James Henry showed the cinematic stereotype of the Coon perfectly. In every scene of the film you see can see how unintelligent this character is through his speech and actions.

Scientists are in agreement, we are teetering on the sixth mass extinction and humans are the cause of this round. Due to the destruction of forests, pollution of the ocean and freshwater sources alike, over hunting, over fishing, and mass amounts of CO2 produced by the human population we are destroying the earth that sustains us.
Animals have been disappearing from our world at an tremendous rate. As the world 's population goes up, the animal population goes down. There are people who do not care or simply choose to overlook that animals are going extinct at an incredible rate. People choose to kill endangered species instead of rebuilding them. There are conservation efforts that are trying to slow or even stop this process. The Merriam-Webster definition of extinction is when an animal species has ended or died out.
Going to the zoo as a child became such a memorable experience that would last forever. I enjoyed looking at each animal as if I had never seen anything like it before. One of my favorite animals to admire was the panda bear. It was so different compared to all the other bears, and it seemed a lot friendlier than the others; so much that I wanted to climb the fence to pet it before my parents could stop me. Thankfully they did, because the mama bear was nearby. A couple years ago I visited the Baton Rouge zoo with some family members. We took a stroll through the zoo appreciating how close we can get to wildlife. In one of the cages I saw a baby panda bear playing with a blue ball and some rope. All I could think to myself was, I couldn’t imagine this cute, innocent animal going extinct or any other animal for that matter. Well according to the National Wildlife Federation, or the NWF it is very possible. Scientists say that if we do nothing to help endangered species, then those animals will be defenseless to extinction within the next century. The three mammals that are on the endangered list and I think are most interesting is the Panda bear, the Javan Rhino and the Tiger.
Save the Animals How boring would the world be without wildlife? Why should we have to kill endangered animals to help save them? One must be aware of how some magnificent big and small animals are coming close to extinction. The cause of this tragedy is due to trophy hunting, meaning that hunters only kill for the head or certain body parts of the animal. There are many reasons why it may be acceptable to have trophy hunting, but also how it can damage the wildlife, making them face extinction at an alarming rate.
Picture this you wake up one day and there are more than 1,000 people living on your land. It’s a pretty large piece of land with enough supplies to support your lifestyle. However, with 1,000 more people living in that same area, it has become crowded and compact. The next day, 1,000 more people come to live on your land. This continues to happen every day for many years, soon supplies start to become scarce and space starts to be a rarity. Sadly, this is our reality. There are 7.4 billion human beings on the face of the Earth and just in the United States alone there are 323 million. According to some estimates, there are somewhere between three and seven times more people than this planet can possibly maintain over a long period of time.
