To be an overachiever is not doing as much as you can. Overachieving is doing as much as you can for the good of others. Overachieving is doing as much as you can because you enjoy it, not feeling obligated to. Overachieving is doing the most for your school, your community, your peers, and yourself. The clearest example of my overachievement is my participation in my school’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America. In the beginning of my junior year, I received an email from my school’s business teacher asking for volunteers to run the new Career Connections Student Center. This group of people turned into the Future Business Leaders of America. In our first year of being a chapter, we received the Pay-It-Forward grant from First Federal Grant. I have a neuromuscular disease that causes me to become tired easily and sometimes can prevent my involvement in certain activities. It sometimes tempts me to do less, but I do my best to not let it prevent my overachieving. Overachieving is something I do to help improve the lives of others. I accomplish this in many ways. I tutor a local student in math, and she has greatly improved her grades, and in turn, her self-esteem. I help young children reach their competitive and personal goals through swimming. I mentor a “student succeeder”. I am a role model for underclassmen. I do all these things because they improve the lives of others at little expense to myself. My reach can only spread so far, so my overall goal is to teach others to be dedicated to improving the lives of others, that way I can reach as far as possible. My results can be measured in this reach. The farther I reach, the more people will have benefitted. I believe I am an overachiever because I devote nearly all of my time to them in hopes to benefit others, despite the physical challenges I face daily and the emotional challenges that follow the physical
