Humans are born to live a long and happy life, but not all humans live that long life due to health issues, murder, and/or suicide. We can’t help some of the health issues that cause us to die like cancer, diabetes, heart problems, and anything else imaginable. When you read the word “diabetes” did you think of someone that is overweight? Our human race is very quick to judge that everyone thinks that when someone has diabetes they are automatically overweight. People don’t realized it at the time, but no matter whether people are overweight, the richest person in the world, or the hottest supermodel on television we all end up in the same place, buried somewhere in a cemetery. Judgment will always be around to pressure people into changing …show more content…
The world is full of judgmental people. They might be judging other people to make themselves feel better. Like I mentioned earlier, when someone has diabetes we are quick to judge in saying that they are overweight or even obese, but then again that’s not always true. When someone thinks of a runway model they are quick to judge and say, “I bet she makes herself puke to appear like that.” Models are most women’s idols, they want to be just like them and look exactly like them since they seem to be normal. Being skinny is the social norm, being too skinny leads to being judged, and not being skinny is socially unacceptable. Judgement can be a way to become people to have a healthier and/or better life in general. Having that constructive criticism could be a positive push for some people. From the essay “Cruelty, Civility, and Other Weighty Matters,” Ann Marie Paulin states that, “Various articles and news magazine programs have reported that Americans of all sizes make far more than simple …show more content…
The same judgment may not follow from high school to college or even from home to work but it’s still there. I hope that people could rethink things before they decide to judge a person. On the same line as, think before you say. Utmost people don’t think about why the person is the way they are, they just jump right into judgment. Changing the way that we judge other people could make an enormous impact. Instead of judging someone compliment them even if you don’t think it is right in your mind it could be right in theirs and with that one compliment it could change their whole day. Being that judgement-free-person they might be able to die blissful. Once those who stop judging realize that they aren’t different from the person, to whom they are judging, will realize that we all end up in the same place. Whether or not the head stone is different or if they had a proper funeral. Everyone is different, and you can’t change that. People don’t realize that once they’re dead, they’re done for good. If they were the person judging others that’s what they’re going to be leaving once they’re gone. The person being judged will die in peace, being away from all of the people who were judging them. People should change themselves to who they want to be, not who other people want to be, to live a long and cheerful
Many will judge someone based on the clothes they wear or the way they style their hair. This is a selfish way of making themselves feel better. People tend to try to bring people that are higher than them to their level by breaking them down and insulting them. This is a selfish way to make them feel worthy, and they don’t think about how their words could affect the other person. People also want others to act and be a certain way, but they don’t think that they should have to act in that way.
Judging others is bad and can cause other people to be lonely because their friends will hear about what their friend did and they won't be interested in them. They can judge by their color or they can just judge them even if they don't know who they are. People can judge others saying this person is mean because they are judging others because of color or other reasons.
Like my mother always say " those who matter , dont judge and those who judge dont
A national epidemic is occurring, the war between food and people. In the United States, about “32% of children (from 2 to 19 years old) are obese” (Bernadac 1). As the years continue to go on the rate of obese children are increasing as well. In the past the problem did not have much consideration due to a low rate of affected children. Now families are suffering the long-term consequences of having an obese child. Some of those health effects are “Heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer and osteoarthritis” (CDC 1). A problem with this type of drastic effects may have a solution; method prevention for the future generations and correct treatment for those who are already obese can lower the rate.
Obesity is a serious problem that increases year after year and affects the lives of many Americans. It is a problem that needs to be eradicated, but who is responsible for this problem? Some argue that individuals are responsible for their own weight; that it is a private concern. Some others, on the other hand, argue that it is a public concern; therefore, the government should play a significant role to stop reduce obesity from the public domain. They also argue that advertisements for junk food are factors that increase obesity. As persuasive as the advertisements can be and even with the help of the government, it is our decision to not eat healthy and end up in a state of obesity.
In the media there are people who view women a certain way, and if we don't hold to the standard that we are not as good as other women who are the size the media says we have to be. In an article it said that "Large women in America are to all intents and purposes invisible in today's thinness-obsessed culture. A big women is neither seen nor heard, and is defined purely in terms of her weight and other people's prejudice." (Goodman par 1) This is a hard thing for women that a heavier to understand because they want the person to think that they are heard. This plays into the way that they think and the way that women look at their bodies. You can see this happening with different types of televisions shows, which put on the show thinner women. "Practically the only television programming that addresses her directly consists of weight-loss ads, the message: lose weight. You're not real women unless you're thin (Goodman)". It is hard to think that this statement could be true, but
I either don’t think I’m as thin as everyone else or as pretty as everyone else. I also have skin problems that I get judged for. Many people have body image and personal problems that they’re
Today I will be outlining my plan to help education parents and children alike on the dangers of childhood obesity. With this plan I hope to better education parents and children on how to prevent and fight this current health issue. As a parent myself I’m very interested in this topic and help solving this situation. This plan will discuss what childhood obesity how we can help solve this problem. With the proper education I feel we all can make better decisions in our children’s lives as well as our very own.
America is one of the most obese countries in the world, and the reasons are quite obvious. Take a look around. Fast food chains on every block, more and more technology to make our lives easier, and high amount of stress are just a few factors to weight gain in our country. There are many different views on obesity and how the people think it should be resolved, whether it's government making the change or the people taking care of themselves. Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Are we doing enough to bring these statistics down? No. In the last 40 years, there has been a growth to more than 160,000 fast food restaurants in America (“Adolescent and School Health”). Restaurants (such as Wendy's, McDonald's etc.) serve more than 50 million people per day, generating about 65 million in sales annually. Only since obesity has become a national epidemic have fast food restaurants changed their ways. But we need to do more than just change the kind of oil the french fries are fried in. Better yet, why don't we remove, or intensely decrease the number of the unhealthy fast food chains, and spread more healthy fast food chains, such as Subway? Is it something government could take act in? Should the United States government take measures to fight the rise of obesity in the country, or are choices concerning diet and nutrition better left to the individuals, free of government interference?
People are always complaining about how they aren’t as pretty as models on billboards, or how they aren’t as thin as that other girl. Why do we do this to ourselves? It’s benefitting absolutely nobody and it just makes us feel bad about ourselves. The answer is because society has engraved in our minds that we need to be someone we’re not in order to look beautiful.
People may judge others, but we don’t know what other people are going through if don’t talk to them. We seem to judge and assume what kind people we go to school or work with. At the end of the day, we are all just human being trying to survive and live our
Another truth we learn about human nature is that people are so quick to judge someone without getting to know them. An example is in high school classes when a student might ask a question that everyone already knows he/she can be labeled as stupid or slow. Maybe the kid wasn't paying attention or maybe they need to be taught in a different way.
“You want to remember that while you're judging the book, the book is also judging you.” ― Stephen King Every one of us judges the people around us; whether we’re conscious of it or not. The fact is, how others define you is how you end up defining yourself.
Susan Bordo states in her article “Never Just Pictures”, that children grow up knowing that they can never be thin enough. They are thought that being fat is the worst thing ever. The ones responsible for this are the media, celebrities, models, and fashion designers. All of these factors play a big role on the development of the standard and how people view themselves. Everyone at one dreams about being the best they can in any aspect. But to achieve that most believe that one of the big factors is outer beauty. So people look at celebrities and fashion designers, and believe that to be accepted they have to look like them. That’s when they take drastic measures to change their appearance because they’ve been influenced by the Medias idea of “beautiful.” This feeling mostly happens in women but in recent years the gender gap has become smaller. Now men also feel the need to look good because of the media. On the TV, instead of having infomercials ...
Body-shaming can have a negative impact on a person's physical and mental health. They can end up with so many body issues. As teenagers, they can become self-conscious and have self-esteem issues. Mentally it may make the person feel ashamed and like there is something wrong with them (Loughlin, 2017). People also need to realize that skinny shaming is just as hurtful as fat shaming (Gies, 2017). Also, some skinny people can’t help that they are naturally thin it’s in their genetics. For example, I was born with a thin body type and eat whatever I want. It is very difficult for me to gain weight no matter how hard I try. The critical comments being made about a person’s body can lead to a development of eating disorders that can even be fatal (“Anorexia Nervosa”, 2015). So before you tell someone to go eat more remember that that person may be battling a serious illness like anorexia or bulimia and anorexia disorder has the highest mortality rate of any of the psychiatric illness (“Anorexia Nervosa”,
