The comfort of taking a walk on a nature preserve to experience my own peace and quiet in the outer world conveys me calmness, so I am effectively able to clear my mind and abandon the urgency of measuring time. Accede the opportunity to travel with the natural rhythms of nature as well as overlooking the wonderful scenery it offers. That enlightens me to release the thought of overseeing everything in my life, so I am competent to relax and let loose. Furthermore, nature is a demonstration of stability in the environment to produce growth for all living creations.
As I walked this journey through the Eaton Canyon Fall trail at the Pasadena nature preserve, I recognized myself noticing the displays of nature’s beauty and connecting myself in

As the trail becomes bumpier with rocks surrounding the ground, I reached a point where I needed to start climbing a small hill covered with rocks and dirt, so I am adept to cross the other side and continue walking the trail. When I reached the top of the small hill, I stopped for a few minutes to appreciate the scenery. I notice the narrow stream of clear water swishing over the rocks and fallen branches. I started to climb down the hill and continue walking beside the stream to find where the water started flowing. After a while of walking, the sound of the peaceful stream of water started to become water thundering down into an identical pool. This contained an opening that allowed the water flow smoothly into the stream. I gazed at the large waterfall pounding down onto the rocks causing the creation of foam once it reached the bottom. I continued to walk around to find a place for me to sit and started walking towards a gigantic rock. I sat on the weird shape rock for a while, observing the waterfall and reflected on my experience that contributed a new perspective on how to view nature.
Being able to walk around in nature and actually observe my surroundings contributed a new perspective on how amazing it is to be connected to nature in a more mysterious and meaningful point of view. It gave me realization as a human I tend to forget to appreciate the resources' nature
In The Sense of Wonder, Carson, and her nephew are exploring the different landscapes of Maine. Carson tells us senses are important while exploring nature saying, “ Sense other than sight can prove avenues of delight and discovery, storing up for us memories and impressions” (Carson, 83). She first explains the way a smell can help us while exploring nature saying,” For the sense of smell, almost more than any other, has the power to recall memories and it is a pity that we use it so little” (Carson, 83). Smell just like any other sense is important, but the smell does remind us of memories lost before. The smell of grandma 's house or fresh baked cookies can remind us of many memories. The second sense Carson emphasizes is hearing. She explains, “ Hearing can be a source of even more exquisite pleasure, but I require conscious cultivation” (Carson, 84). Hearing, epically while exploring in nature, can be beautiful. The crack of leaves while you walk or the sound of birds ringing in your ear can be music through your ears. In The Sense of Wonder, Carson urges us to use all of our sense, use emotions and abandon teaching while exploring nature.
Have you noticed that we feel a powerful desire to connect with nature during difficult times? Whether we are injured, depressed or sad our inclination towards nature increases. Patients in hospitals recover faster if they are in a room with a nice view. Why? Because nature is so pure and powerful that can restore our spirits and heal our bodies and minds. The beauty of nature has been praised in art, poetry, writings and films. Naturalists, poets and writers have documented the many benefits of spending time in nature. "Calypso Borealis" by Muir and "I wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by Wordsworth are two great pieces of literature where our hearts are filled with an indescribable emotion. John Muir and William Wordsworth express their relationship
My life so far has been like a good hiking path. A path that is winding and twisting and encompassed with plenty of beauty. A path that is lined with trees like angels protecting you from the mysteries in the deep forest and that keep you rooted on the path you are destine to take. One that is filled with deep troughs and the most beautiful peaks you could ever image. Sometimes the path is rocky and hurts the soles of your feet until they crack and bleed, but other times it’s covered with a soft green moss that lifts your steps and revives your spirits. Through the last 17 years of my life, I have traveled that path and endured every step. I have gone into the dark abyss of the trough and have found in it the most precious grace of light. As I have gotten older I have come to recognize that the scary and shaky steps of my path have indeed been “fearsome blessings” (Buechner, 92).
Nature can keep its blissful purity untroubled in the moment, not convicted by what all society has brought into this world. Furthermore, many find nature as their safe place, the one place they can go too, and no one can interfere with their happiness. John Muir and William Wordsworth noticed the peaceful nature brought to their soul when traveling on their journey. Do not let your hands be weak, for you shall be rewarded.” – 2 Chronicles 15:7 John Muir and William Wordsworth both faced challenges to get to where they were going.
"Nature is a setting that fits equally well a comic or morning piece." (Emerson, 388) The cave gave them the sense of relaxation and freedom to discover themselves. Some people go out into nature to disconnect and clear their mind others go to seek answers whatever it may be but it does change an individual. "The surface of the earth is soft and impressionable by the feet of men; and so with the path the mind travels." (Thoreau, 407). Some might see it as if one were running away from problems but it is more as if one were to come back to view it with clear refreshed eyes.
Christopher McCandless’ long, fascinating, but ultimately fatal journey into the wilderness of Alaska is depicted in the biography, Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer. Late in the of summer of 1990, a very young Christopher McCandless left his ordinary world in Annandale, Virginia to pursue a solitary life in the untamed wilds of Alaska. Many will insinuate that Christopher McCandless’ actions were childish and idiotic, but a stronger argument would be that his unconventional thinking and desire to live life on his own terms allowed him to reach self-actualization.
Each day we walk outside and we see something beautiful. It is called Nature. Outside it holds so much more than we can see. We love the world around us and it is up to us to see it. The world shows us all that it can hold. The problem is we look at the world and see simple things. We see things that have no meaning, but are just objects. However, everything in Nature can have a hidden meaning. “Vivid pictures of landscape, but in them the Yankee point of view through which nature is seen is as vital to the meaning as the things portrayed.” (Lynen) Nature has meaning behind each part of nature. The problem of nature is each person has a different interpretation. One thing that might seem beautiful and wonderful to me is complete terrible or scary to another. We base our meaning off our own experiences. People who have been trapped alone in the forest are usually scared of going back into a forest by their own. We base what we know and how we feel off of past experiences. Robert Frost wrote the poems, Acquainted with the Night and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening which describes nature that has three main hidden meanings: things hidden in the stars, mountains hold amazing features and pure white is a beautiful and wonderful thing.
Beginning with the creation of the world, hunting has been over thousands of years for a number of reasons. Nowadays, hunting is considered one of the most interesting outdoor activities that have many advantages. However, hunting is a very controversial topic, for some might consider it very harmful and dangerous for the environment. Although this point of view is adopted by a part of the society, one can counter it with a numerous reasons. Hunting provides several benefits for those who partake in it and for the environment as well.
“The Earth is 4.6 billion years old. Scaling to 46 years, human have been here 4 hours, the industrial revolution began 1 minute ago, and in that time, we’ve destroyed more than half the world’s forests.” - Unknown. One major environmental problem in our world is deforestation - what is that, you ask? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, deforestation is the action or process of clearing of forests. Some consequences of this include a large contribution to global warming and climate change (about 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide each year), loss of biodiversity especially in tropical rainforests, and the extinction of many known or yet to be discovered species. But, through some Debt-for-Nature Swaps, leaving forests
Everywhere we look, we are encircled by nature and its wonders. Nature comes in many different ways. It depends on us how we view nature. Everyone has their own opinion and reaction to nature. When we hear nature the first thing that comes to our mind is trees, flowers, mountains, waterfalls and many others. Flowers have their own significance which lightens up life. We all admire flowers and love their natural scent and colors. They make any occasion colorful. I went to Butchart Garden in Victoria, Canada and this is where I fell in love with nature.
My family and I rarely went on outings; my parents were always busy or at work. Likewise, family trips or vacations were something my parents could not afford. The first time I ever fully experienced the beauty of nature was when I went on a week long trip with my fifth grade class to an outdoor school. This was the first time I went on a real hike and the first time I was really in the middle of nature. Walking through the forest, listening to the birds chirp and the graceful movement of the leaves in the wind changed my perspective. That week, I realized how much beauty there was to discover on Earth. My relationship with the environment started during that trip in fifth grade as I realized that the world is such an immense place full of things to admire and unearth. It was something wholly new to me. I fell in love with the
Along the way there were many species of wildlife. I saw numerous eye-catching reptiles, most of them were lizards that were multicolored with blues, yellows, reds, and oranges. At one point, I even saw a jet black snake with yellow speckles scattered throughout. Eventually, the path came out of the trees and led us to vast openness with nothing but saguaros and enormous mountains. As soon as I saw the opportunity, I pulled out my phone and started to take multiple pictures. However, when came back to reality and managed to pull my eyes away from my phone screen, that was when I actually took in nature’s beauty. When I looked through the gaping valley, it felt as if the world had halted to a stop and all my worries vanished. That was when I realized that it is honestly better to take mental pictures rather than taking physical
The power of nature is all around us and can be found almost anywhere. One is able to study nature through experiencing it firsthand, looking at a picture, watching a movie, or even reading a familiar children’s story. I believe that by learning more about nature we can grow closer to God. Emerson states, “Nature is so pervaded in human life, that there is something of humanity in all, and in every particular” (Emerson 508). Like Emerson, I believe that humanity and nature were created by God and we can learn more about the Spirit of God by studying nature. I also see that nature has the power to influence our emotions and actions. I see evidence of this through various landscapes such as the desert, the beach, the mountains and the jungle. I thought about the vastness of the desert during a recent trip to the desert with my class. I think about nature and my love for it when I am scanning through my photo album and see pictures that capture me enjoying the mountains of Utah. When I watched the movie The Beach I was struck out how nature, specifically the beautiful beaches of Thailand, influenced the actions of every character in the movie. Of course it is hard to read a legendary story such as “Jungle Book” and not see what a powerful effect nature and its’ animals can have over humans.
I used to go there to be alone or to dream with my eyes open admiring the blue sky or the clouds. I liked to go there to lay down on the grass, listen to the wind, kiss the flowers and watch the leaves moving. It was hard to go up the hill to get there, but I wanted to see everyday my seven trees, to see how the color of the leaves changed and to feel the softness of the grass.
Our planet is suffering from severe pollution, which ranges from contaminated air, water and soil as well. Humans are doing nothing to reduce the amount of pollution that is harming our earth. To understand how pollution works first you must understand that there are different types of pollution. The most common types of pollution and the ones that I will be focusing on which are the ones doing the most harm to our planet are air pollution, water pollution, soil contamination and littering. In order to help out and reduce pollution in our planet people need to be more aware of what these problems are and about the severe damages that they are causing our planet. Before industrialization really jumped into place and had an effect on large cities, nature had its own way of cleaning up its own air and itself. Wind scattered gases, rain washed many substances and the rest dissolved into the ground; while plants absorbed carbon dioxide and made it into oxygen. With big cities growing more every time and with more towns that were becoming more industrialized a lot of more waste began to be released into the environment and the atmosphere and soon this was more than enough for nature to handle. In order to stop and reduce pollution people need to understand the damage that it is causing our environment and our planet as well. People need to be more aware of how they can help out and do their part in reducing these problems that are causing our planet to die slowly with people not even noticing it.
