Introduction (USE FOR DISCUSSION FORUM) 1. A common saying in the military is “You get what you put into,” but for some service members this is not always true. 2. Certainly the military affected me a lot of different ways but the first comes to mind complete loss of trust of men and women. 3. Another important way the military affected me was my overall health. 4. Consequently, the only positive things the military has affected me in a good way is that I have a decent clearance job and my ability to pay off the debt that was created during my military service. 5. The military affected my trust in people and my health, but the only positive thing that came out of it is the job that I do now. Conclusion 1. The military is supposed to be …show more content…
The military, itself, is not the bad thing, we need it, but the military environment can destroy a person’s trust. 3. The current active duty healthcare has dramatically different than it was in 2002. It is more involved with the service members and no one longer goes without medical treatments. All medical complaints must be addressed or the service member’s supervisor may receive a reprimand in their service record, which could their promotion standing. 4. My current job pays well, I do like it for the money and the ability to finally pay off my active duty debts, but it is not what I do not want to do the rest of my life. 5. 6. I truly hope the military service does improve even more in the next ten years, hopefully it will be just as a positive thing for not only for men but also more so for women. …show more content…
No one else will ever service any branch of the military again, because of mine and two other female members who also experience almost nothing but bad things in the military. e. The military can be a positive experience for most men but for the majority of women, it is a bad thing not only on the women’s trust of fellow humans but it can kill her health in a short period. 2. Main Idea 2: a. Another important way the military affected me was my overall health. b. I was a runner and swimmer who had completed my first 4K marathon in 2001, so the physical fitness was not an issue when I first enlisted before my service time. c. During my service time, I was refused medical treatment from pneumonia early on, which later on developed into lung damage and chronic asthma. d. It was taken me nearly ten years just to recover my health enough to be able to go to the gym, walk on a treadmill and not pass out from the lack of oxygen. e. The military changed my health for the worse but it did not change my own wanting of a better
Men have always been looked upon as the leading sex. Looking back through history women have been the ones who take care of the home and children, while men are the ones who work and go to war. However in recent years there’s no doubt that women have become much more equal in the work force. Nevertheless men are still the ones who are forced to fight our wars when the time calls for it. Many think that women should be entirely equal to men having their choice to be drafted taken away but the fact is that they are physically at a disadvantage, too emotionally oriented, and the increase of female presence would have a more negative impact in the military in the way of social interactions.

The purpose of this essay is to discuss the issue of rape and sexual assault in the military. The number of attacks for rape and sexual assault in the military are at an all-time high. Women have recently been allowed to fight on the front line. While this may be a huge achievement for women-kind, for this woman, it is a very scary thought. I am a junior at Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences; a school geared towards students wishing to enter the medical field. I may be forced to join the military one day if a war breaks out and women are needed to protect the country. I would be happy to serve my country if I did not have to be scared of my fellow soldiers. Rape and sexual assault are major issues in the military and have been for many years without much effort to decrease the attacks. I am suggesting that unless the rape and sexual assault issue is fixed, the amount of people joining the military, specifically the women, will decrease greatly.
The gender integration in the military has always faced questions of social acceptance, weather society can accept how women will be qualified and respected in the military as today. As of today, the decision has been made and allowed women to fill about 220,000 jobs that are now limited to men which includes infantry, armor, reconnaissance and some special operations units. The recruitment numbers of women have been increasing since than which reflects the importance of severing as role model for future women to join infantry and other ground combat jobs which they have been prohibited from. Women have extensively served in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, but discrimination still continues till today. The military requirements are physical tests and standards such as long deployments aboard ships, exceptions for infantry which male units perform better than women. Women’s acknowledgement has not really changed which stated by Carter “ He said there are “physical differences on average” between men and women and that “thus far, we’ve only seen small numbers of women qualify to meet our high physical standards” for some units “ (Bradner, p. 3).There are not many exceptions for women fulfilling the needs to open opportunity jobs in the military but with little hope which men inhale the endurance and strength that are not viewed towards
Canadian military soldiers have been fighting for the country’s freedom and justice for many years. Soldiers have been dedicating their lives to protect the citizens of Canada by facing horrible circumstances such as killing, injuries, and new environments, which leave the soldiers’ well-being in a devastating condition. In recent years, the issue of soldiers’ health has become more apparent. Soldiers are coming back from deployment with poorer health statuses then pervious years and not getting the services they need, affecting the various strategies health care providers particularly nurses use. The government or military has not done enough to provide soldiers with adequate resources after deployment, mainly focusing on providing them with
...an reality, sometimes there’s more involved than just wanting to be healthy, there’s always money in the way, which can mess up reality counts and military files. Also war doesn’t always have a negative effect in veterans, to something bad there’s always a good side; Posttraumatic Growth.

..., which seems to happen all too often when it comes to the treatment of women in the military.
Women have changed people`s ideas on war for the past two centuries of American history. “People are realizing females have contributed to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan,” stated Professor Megan Mackenzie (Harris 2). Although women are not fighting on the front lines, they help in many different ways in the military such as being nurses and women Air force Service Pilots. In his career, General Martin Dempsey has noticed an improvement in the culture, discipline, and physical prowess since women first joined the military (Harris 2). Leon E. Panetta once stated that women are willing to fight and die alongside men, proving that everyone is committed to the job (Roulo 2). In November of 2012, four female soldiers planned to sue the Department of Defense because the “brass ceiling” was stopping them from proving they could fight (Harris 1). The American Civil Liberties Union and others supported them because they thought the military was discriminating against women (Harris 1). Women have shown that they are committed to helping though their contributions to past wars and battles in American history.
I’m a military brat. Most people think that living the military life is everything happy, when in reality it’s not. It’s not horrible, but you have to get used to not getting too attached to people. The reason is because many people come and go. You could know someone for one year and then they have to move, and you feel like you’ve known them for five years. Moving is the worst part about being a military brat.
Serving in the military allows you to be granted with benefits. Benefits such as health care. If you’ve served in the military you are eligible to have health care through the state. To apply, there are certain requirements you have to reach such as nature of discharge, length of service, and so on. There are also different types of medical insurance you could qualify for. In other words, military veterans are guaranteed to be insured, in any way possible, for risking their lives for ours.

My life in the military was challenging yet rewarding. I have received an enormous amount of training for the two different jobs I served in. I have been to a multitude of duty stations. Also I have been deployed four separate times and worked many soldiers along the way. I had enjoyable careers while in the Army and have done and seen a lot.
Throughout our nation’s history, women have played an important role in the military. It has not been until recently however, that women have been able to fully contribute to the military and be recognized for their past achievements in this area. With this new recognition and admittance, many debates and problems have arisen. One of the most common debates surrounds the idea of women in combat positions. Others include the issue of pregnancy, housing, and the physical requirements in order to serve. One problem that has arisen is that of the sexual harassment and rape of some women soldiers.
...ure. Some women crack when its time to choose when bullets are flying over there head. Most women don’t want to go to the combat field because they are afraid to get shot. Because most women are mothers and I think that mothers in the army should not have combat jobs because they might have children and they should be able to go home to there kid. That’s why I think women shouldn’t be able to have combat job.
