Would you rather have a opioids that could keep you alive for a small amount of time or a remedy that could get rid of all of your problems but is illegal? This is the daily struggle of any marijuana user that takes the risk and dangers to get the satisfaction in life. Marijuana is a drug that is used by adults and kids with serious health issues, yet in our society we have a stigma that marijuana users are using the drug to get high, when there are people who are utilizing the drug for basic survival for everyday functioning. So the US Government should enact legislation that nationally legalizes the use of recreational and medical marijuana for medical research, economic benefits, and job growth. According to Investopedia, “In 2015, Colorado collected more than $135 million in taxes and fee on medical and recreational marijuana. Sales in the state totaled over $996 million.” This money can go to government programs, roads, and other programs. They are also giving money back to the people in the form of a $7.25 tax refund, But this is due to Colorado tax limit, which means that the state has a limit on how much in taxes the state can collect. So marijuana legalization brings in abundant amount of money for the state that they have to give the money back to the people. Other states should see this and legalize marijuana but they are saying that there is no market for marijuana in our country. When Investopedia say, Sales in North America grew 30%, to $6.7 billion, in 2016, and is projected to increase to $20.1 billion by 2021. To sum up, congressman should have no excuse for the legalization when there is a large market for the sale of recreational and medical marijuana and legalization can benefit the states for bringing in money to fund different state sponsored
