For example, a bundle at McDonald’s can feed up to four people at one time, and it only costs about fifteen dollars! So, in the long run, it is just easier to go pick up some fast food rather than wasting your time cooking an actual meal. Lastly, even though fast food is very cheap and in every corner, it is not healthy at all. Studies have proven that a person that ate McDonald’s for his meals for a full month ended up having some serious health problems. In conclusion, even though it is very easy to access and very cheap, fast food has some serious health issues and is very harmful.
Scientists claim that the consumption of fast food leads to rapid weight gain, heart attacks, diabetes, reduced immunity, irreversible changes in the liver, raising the level of cholesterol in the blood. The fat contained in fast food, mainly consists of saturated fatty acids, which are deposited on the walls of blood vessels.
You may be thinking that fast food is unhealthy, and at most fast food places it is. But, there are healthy options at restaurants that are considered “fast food”. Fast food means that the restaurant that you go to
Fast food has a harmful effect on society because it can cause Coronary Artery Disease. Nancy Clarke indicates “Fast food contains high amounts of cholesterol and salt, two nutrients that contribute to cardiovascular health problems” (parag. 2). Fast food is known to be unhealthy, it is high in fat, sodium, and cholesterol, which can cause Atherosclerosis and lead to Heart Disease. The U.S Center for Disease Control and Prevention claim there is a direct link between sodium and high blood pressure. Fast food is high in sodium and cholesterol can build-up plaque. The American Heart Association indicates “Atherosclerosis is a slow, progressive disease that may start in childhood” (parag. 4). Most patients have no idea that they could possibly have atherosclerosis. Trying to find out if someone has this disease is very difficult, the person would have to have a heart attack or stroke first. This is because it develops gradually, but when atherosclerosis starts to develop it usuall...
Fast food causes obesity. Sarah Muntel believes that fast food is highly processed, full of fat, calories, and sodium ( parag.5). 1,500 calories could easily be in one meal and the general daily recommendation for Americans is 1,500 to 2,000 calories a day. Having one fast food meal a day can lead to an increase in calorie intake which leads to weight gain. Obesity can be caused by many things but one of the major causes is fast food. The food has a lot more calories than you are suppose to eat in one meal. This causes the fat to build up in your body and you start to gain weight. Eating fast food excessively leads to a large weight gain and eventually obesity. Ananya Mandal suggests that eating out may lead to increased calorie intake and the risk of obesity because of larger portion sizes and increased energy density of foods (parag.9). The connection it has with the obesity is that the epidemic is caused by high consumption of fat, sugar, and salt (Hogan). Fast food is literally contributing to obesity by providing unhealthy food restricted to people at risk for obesity and even with those with obesity. In the article Fast Food, David Hogan found out the most fast food restaurants’ menus offer burgers, fries, soda, and desserts. Those types of food are unhealthy where burgers contain the high amounts of fat, fries contain a lot of salt, while sodas and desserts contain excess amounts of sugar. These types of food are considered as junk food that the body does not necessarily need to consume, but they are often eaten for the delicious taste from the high amounts of fat and sugar they contain (Wolin and Petrelli). Fast food is also providing quick service by frying a lot of the foods to provide a quick service and hot food (Hogan). Fried food is considered unhealthy from the high amount of fat needed to cook the fried foods which is restricted to those with obesity (Wolin and Perelli). Hogan also noted that McDonalds and Burger King are fast food restaurants that regularly compete in the fast food industry. Since unhealthy delicious food has been on demand in the food industry for many years, these fast food restaurants compete by serving those foods to stay in business (Hogan). Obesity is therefore
Fast food is prone to have high calories, and when people overweight have them, they are just adding up more fat to their body. So, 3,500 calories equal to 1 pound, by consuming a complete meal at a fast food facility, the individual would be way over that in one day. It goes without saying that the United States is among the leading countries when it comes to
Fast Food has many effects on ones body, most of them being disease related. The two of the main diseases that you can get from fast food are liver damage and cardiovascular disease. The reason that you can get liver damage from fast food is because the food is usually filled with an artificial fat called trans-fat. They use trans-fat because it makes it so that the food can be able to sit out longer then what it usually could if it did not have it in it. When you eat these trans-fats they build up in the liver and thats why you could get liver damage or worse, liver failure. Cardiovascular disease is the disease of the heart and blood vessels. You can get this disease from always eating high levels of sodium and cholesterol and those two things are truly what fast food is. Cholesterol can clog the arteries, increasing the risk of having a heart attack or stroke, High levels of sodium from fries, sodas or enriched meat products will increase your blood pressure, which can also increase the risk of heart attack or stroke over time. Once you damage your cardiovascular system it is hard to physical activities and not having it will make it hard to maintain good health. When one chooses to eat fast food the effects will show on the body and one will not feel as energized and your performance in physical activities will be poor. Fast Food brings obesity to the world. People do not realize all of the downfalls it brings to people’s lives.Sugar and fats and the high levels of both of them is what increases the chance of obesity. People who live close to fast food restaurants increase the chance of eating it and becoming obese. Fast food restaurants have preservatives and cooking oils, which maintain the products. The oils make it hard to...

...s usually a lack of the necessary nutrients, because most of fast food is only a small amount of vegetables, and a lot of kinds of fast food are fired, which makes food contains a lot of fat and calories and loses many nutrients. In addition, much fast food contains food additives. As I said, most food additives are not harmless for the human body. For these reasons, fast food is unhealthy.
A typical fast food meal is very high in calories and fat , and it doesn 't offer that much of the nutritional value. In addition, fast food contains a lot of artificial colors , preservatives and chemicals . In most cases, fast food can lead to many diseases such as obesity, which is a major risk factor for so many health problems. For example, heart disease, diabetes and high cholesterol. So, Fast food does really have a direct impact on the overall health. In the same way, many people think it is cheaper to buy a fast ready meal which it is not true. There are so many additional cost of fast food related to health such as obesity and heart disease. So,basically, you pay more for fast foods. In addition, you can go to any fast food restaurant and get a meal for five to ten dollars a person. However, you can feed multiple people for the same price by cooking at home. Also, there would be some leftover ingredients for future usage. It is good to know that fast food is addictive, which means you spend more money buying fast food. That being said, fast food is not really cheaper as people assume. It is actually more expensive as it leads to many additional cost
One of the effects is that junk food contains a high amount of unhealthy ingredients. The sugar and oil in junk food gives the body extra calories that the body doesn’t need which will later be unhealthy fats. Fast food also contains high number of calories and sugar, which does not gives the body any nutritional value. Junk food has a high amount of sodium, which will increase the risks of heart diseases. According to Eric Schlosser (n.d) in “The bad effects of fast food,” that fast food is popular because its convenient, it’s cheap, and it tastes good, But the real cost of eating fast food never appears on the menu. Your body and health should mean a lot to you, you should keep it clean and healthy. To do that
Lastly, it has become a habit to go eat fast food every time you are hungry because it “saves time”, but does it really save time? It actually does not. People tend to go buy fast food because it takes too long to cook a meal at home. In reality did you ever stop to think how long you take to drive to your fast food of choice and back to your destination? I don’t think so. Think about how much time you spend driving in traffic, ordering your food, receiving your food, and driving back to your destination. You can make a quick home cooked meal in the matter of minutes in less time than going out of your way to go buy fast food and it will probably be a healthier option. These are many reasons why fast food is not good for your health and why you should think twice about eating this stuff.
“Some fast food meals give you a whole day’s worth of calories” (Pietrangelo, 2014). Empty calories refer to calories with zero nutritional value. This can cause weight gain, shortness of breath, depression, high blood pressure, along with poor dental health and chronic headaches (Pietrangelo, 2014). Even though these fast food restaurants claim they are convenient, the foods being served are not so convenient in the long run. Some people even see problems shortly after consuming bad foods, such as acne and bad digestion. By eating junk food, our bodies are starved from the nutritional value needed to function properly.
Junk foods and fast food: society 's best friend but also its worst enemy. Everyone enjoys a little snack here and there and that snack is usually some sort of junk food or fast food. The reason behind people eating this food more than healthy food is because it 's cheaper and it 's convenient. The foods are typically ready on demand while healthy foods take preparation. Most likely, the healthy foods would be chosen over the fatty foods if they were cheaper in price and more readily available. Consuming large amounts of the junk food and fast food can cause issues for people such as acne, weight gain and low energy levels, and can aid in depression.
