The United States of America has many states that have their students take homework home to work on, not a single school doesn’t send kids to school without homework. They are two sides on to why students should have homework and even more and the side that thinks that students should have none. I personally think that we shouldn’t have homework at all. One of the main reason to why I think that school should hold back on homework is because of sports. Why I think that it has an influence on the people that do sports is because it take time from them to rest up and get heeled properly. Getting enough sleep after a big game and not having to worry about doing homework takes stress off of a lot of student athletes. And also by reducing homework, after practice the students are to tiered to do and more likely to get the problems wrong, and that causes them to have a lower grade percentage. All in all having to do homework at the end of every practice can be a pain for many student athletes. …show more content…
After a long day of sitting in a chair listening to a teacher talk and talk about things that you know that you need in your profession is boring and a lot of time being wasted. Having homework invades with many peoples social lives and for many people, it cuts time from being able to hang out with their friend or significant other. It also cuts into family activities, for example if you and your family are wanting to go camping and then you realize that you need to stay home and do homework because your teacher assigned it forcing you to stay home while your family is out catching fish and having a great time but you have to stay
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” (G.K. Chesterton). A soldier is a soldier no matter what. If they fight behind a screen, on the front line, or from a controller as long as they’re protecting this country, the people in it, and the people fighting for it they are honorable. Some think that because one does their fighting from a remote control drone means that they have no understanding of war, and in some ways that is true, but they are still taking someone’s life when they choose to press that button just like the solders on the front line takes someone’s life when they pull the trigger. Both people are fighting the same fight: they love the country they are defending the people in it they just do it from different standpoints. Drones
Khristina Janer, a mother from Illinois, says, “I don’t feel like a parent. I feel like a drill sergeant!” when making her kids finish their homework after an extended period of time (Wallace). Many studies show the effectiveness of homework and all of the benefits it can do for us; the problem is: teachers are making kids do too much homework when they get home from school. The teachers don’t take in the environmental factors that could be harming any student 's ability to get a task done. Teachers automatically believe that kids are irresponsible or unmotivated when they don’t succeed in finishing their homework. When kids are given this much, or this difficult of, homework, sleep is being sacrificed. Even when they are doing all of their
Imagine dedicating your life to a university not only on the academic level, but also the athletic level. With a full scholarship your time is dedicated to getting to class on time, finishing assignments, and making it to mandatory practices while also maintaining a strict workout schedule. With your day pretty much full of responsibilities, you do not have the time for a job to pay for anything that you may need outside of tuition, books, and housing. If your car breaks down or you run out of gas you have to pay for that out of your own pocket which is fairly difficult when you do not have an income to cover the costs and if you accept money or free services from any businesses, you could lose you eligibility as a NCAA athlete and lose your
Over the years, the cost of college tuition has been one of the central issues limiting students, like me, from obtaining the best education that one could receive. Usually, this results in students settling for a school nearby rather than being able to have the choice to go to the best one in which they were accepted into, due to such skyrocket prices. Much of this problem or concern has to do with out-of-state tuition being much higher than in-state tuition, sometimes almost doubling the price of in-state tuition! Therefore, students are more pressured to remain in state rather than go to out-of-state schools that may offer a better education.
Albert Einstein once said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is it stupid.” Sir Ken Robinson stated that schools are destroying children 's creativity with their curriculum, there are many facts that support this idea. Students are required to think a specific way, prepare the way teachers want them to be prepared. Students also have their own opinion, because they are not afraid to be wrong, and need a way to move forward.
“Thomas Aquinas once wrote that it is better to know a little of what is important than a lot of what is unimportant” (Stancil, 252). Students should have a balance of street smarts and book smarts so they can be successful in whichever career they may choose. If the typical education focuses on teaching the students only certain areas they may or may not use, then how will the students be completely prepare for life? If education is supposed to prepare students for life, then can anyone really limit or define education? Kim Jones, a CEO who wrote an article on education, claims “Education does not have a single purpose; it serves multiple objectives, and the relative importance of each of these objectives can be very personal” (Forbes.com).
In conclusion, homework is a waste of time. Time that can be better spent is with family and having fun participating in extracurricular activities. Eliminating homework allows students the reward of free time and the invaluable time spent with family. Homework creates unnecessary stress and strain for parents and students alike. Also, homework allows teachers to pawn off their own teaching responsibilities to students and parents with hours of homework. Homework is not beneficial and it should be banned for students Kindergarten thru 8th grade.
In 2013 Apple sold over 33.8 million IPhones in total. About 20% of more than 4,400 11-18 year old students have been a victim of any inappropriate use of technology. This includes cheating, sexting, and cyberbullying. Some school districts are beginning to relax on policies regarding the use of personal electronics in schools. Over 75% of teenage students have cell phones. If that 75% brought their phones to school what would the other 25% of the students do? I strongly believe that personal electronics should not be allowed in schools.
Homework, it’s a waste of time, money, paper and trees. Some people don’t even do the homework or they just copy it off of others the day it’s due so, they didn’t really learn much at all. In addition, if we didn’t do the homework, we may have had a doctor’s appointment or something important we had to do.
TV is the most common technology device people use and they watch TV for almost all the time. Doctors who know about the advantages and disadvantages in health say that TV does more harmful performances than favorable performances while people who just watch a lot of TV say that doing this is good for them. Since doctors can help cure people and know what is acceptable for them, this would mean that the doctors are correct about TV harming people than on how the people who watch a lot of TV believe that TV can cause them to get benefits in their life from watching TV. This makes the people who just focus on the TV not know about the risks of doing this. The risks of watching TV that makes TV a harmful device to use rather than a beneficial device are that it can cause people to imitate awful behavior, can cause people to have problems involving their health, and that it can take people's time away from doing activities that help them become successful in their life.
I think kids have way too much homework a lot of them get in trouble for not finishing it that puts stress on these kids which makes them super stressed out so they have to stay up later and now they're sleep deprived so they don't get as much work done in school now they have to stay up later and i know what you're thinking if they had got it done at school this wouldn't be a problem but each class only gets 58 min tops which is not a lot of time and at lunch the kids have to eat some schools have advisory but that is still only 58 min tops which makes kids even more stressed out the students are not to blame the school board, teachers, and staff are i mean kids are killing themselves because of this stress
As a grade 9 student who attends Hillcrest School, i’ve noticed the number of students complaining about overwhelming amounts of homework they receive on a daily basis. I write to you in hopes to create a homework policy that most of the students that attend the school recognize as beneficial not only for them, but also for the parents and teachers. The homework policy comes will follow specific guidelines created so it's flexible for all students, grade one through grade 12.
Kids must have less homework because its effect the sports. One reason is When kids get home from sports and all they want to do is rest they can’t because they have to start their homework they have to start it otherwise it will be late. Another reason is Some kids have to stay home from their practices and games because they have too much homework and they have to finish They have to because if they don't get it done they won't
Another reason why homework should not be graded is its a waste of time. As a result students can not find time to do it. In fact a youtube video I watched said that students have other things to do when they are home like sports or a family event and I understand that “academics before athletics” but only 3% of students get an academic scholarship and only 2% get a athletics scholarship but 58% of students with a academic scholarship end up failing or dropping
