The gun control topic is one of the most controversial themes in the United States. Many citizens worry about the facts that guns are getting out of control and crime is increasing. I think there are solutions that will help to have a better control of guns in the U.S, such as reducing military weapons, reduction of capacity of magazines, and increase the age for buying guns to 24 years old. Firstly, when we talk about military guns, we talk about high caliber bullets and weapons that are specially made for warfare use only. They should remain only for military purposes. For instance, AR-15s, M4s, long rifles, sniper rifles should not be authorized to sell to civilians because this weapons has a high level of danger and they become more powerful …show more content…
For instance, an AR-15 magazine could handle 30 to 50 rounds of bullets instead to sell some magazines it could be only 10 rounds per magazine for handguns the maximum capacity for bullet on a magazine is 9 bullets. “As the Royal Canadian Mounted Police regulates for the weapons of military purpose they are allow using 10 rounds per magazine”. (Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 2015-05-11). This a way to reduce mass crimes, it will help to reduce long confrontations between criminal and law enforcement. This regulation could also help to reduce mass murders; criminals will not be able to have many rounds on their magazines to produce high mass murder impact. One example of mass shooting that involved an arsenal of ammunition and firearms were at the San Bernardino shooting that result in the death of 14 people and 22 wounded. (STAFF, …show more content…
This could reduce tragic mass shootings in the universities like the shooting in Virginia Tech “Seung-Hui Cho has 23 years old and was a South Korean immigrant spree killer and mass murderer who killed 32 people and wounded 17 others armed with two semi-automatic pistols on April 16, 2007, at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. An additional six people were injured jumping from windows to escape. (wikipedia, 2016) If the legal law to buy guns were until 25 years old probably this mass shooting could never occur. For example, an adolescent that have 25 years old will be more likely to be responsible for their acts, by the fact they are more mature. Other reason is that they understand the engagement with the law when they acquire a weapon and the consequences that come if something goes wrong with the firearm. They will need to have the proper education about guns management with a contract that will force the buyer to permit the police visit their home. The police can verified that the weapons are properly secure, in case those weapons do not be secure, the police could give him or her a warning and if the individual do not respect the conditions stablished by the police. The police can remove all the weapons and cancel the permit he or she might have and if they want it back, they
Ever since 1994, magazines retailed in New York can hold up to 10 rounds. This remains to be right in the present day. You could purchase, sell, and own any magazine that can hold up to 10 rounds; nevertheless of at what time it was factory-made. Uncertainty if you require a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds, you must to forever adjust the magazine so that it holds no more than ten rounds, correctly throw away it, handover it over to a law enforcement agency or officer, or sell it to a seller or an out of state buyer (New York State ). New York State: Even though at a documented range, whether you are there for leisure or for take part in shooting competitions, you can load the complete ten rounds into any magazine you have. Beginning on April 15, 2013, you are restricted to placing 7 rounds in the magazine in all additional places (New York State). "The SAFE Act stops lawbreakers and the uncertainly mentally ill from purchasing a gun by needing common background checks on gun buying, rises punishments for people who use banned guns, mandates life in prison without parole for anybody who murders a first responder, and enforces the hardest assault weapons ban in the nation. For hunters, sportsmen, and law abiding gun owners, this new law conserves and defends your right to buy, sell...
There are a lot of people who believe that these weapons should be ban. They say that these weapons are too dangerous and that they shouldn’t be available to the public to buy. They are very dangerous, but to purchase these guns you must have a background check, a license to carry them, and you have to have a gun safety license also. The level of security you have to go through to purchase these weapons is insane, and so is the price of these weapons.
The second amendment grants all Americans the right to bear arms. The ability to hold a firearm at any time as long as the firearm is registered. In the United states, all it takes to hold a firearm is a background check and a safety class. In a short reading from the “American Now” book a short article By Christina Tenuta called Responsible gun ownership saves lives she asks “do Americans really need guns?”, but are the guns really the problem? Although the second amendment requires some decent documents , the qualifications to obtain a firearm needs to be revised to a mental check, a family history check , and also to make it a priority for reinforcement to check on the registered firearm every six to twelve months.
In Colorado where twelve people where killed legislature has combated this with tougher background checks and limiting all magazines soled to a ten round capacity limit.according to politics/policy after Colorado enforc...

Should the 2nd amendment be revoked or changed? Many Americans would say “No,” stating that guns are dangerous and times have changed. Others might argue that having the right to bear arms keeps people safe and less threated by the outside world. In this debate, both sides of the 2nd amendments constitutional rights will be argued. The upcoming presidential election has been influencing voters to revoke our 2nd amendment rights which could change the democracy on which our country was founded.
Gun control is both a crime issue, as well as a safety issue. It can range from moderate to extreme. Gun control goes as back as the 17th century where Japan was using guns for war making as to current tragedies occurring in schools. Guns have never disappeared, they have only multiplied in numbers to numerous amount of guns, ranging from small to big. Gun control isn't only a problem but it can also be solution depending on how it is being used and the person using it. Gun control can be controlled with many methods but in the end it matters how the person is going to use the weaponry.
Written on December 15, 1791 was the second amendment of the constitution. It states that "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."(Cite)? United States citizens have used guns for various reasons that include protection, hunting, and sporting reasons. The topic on gun control is a very complex topic that is discussed daily. It is such a big issue that it has both the democrats and republicans firmly established in their positions. One of the main reasons this has been such an important topic in recent years is because of all the murders and massacres that have happened recently in the United States. As our newly nominated president, Donald
Just in the US there are over 100,000 people shot each year. 72 perecent of all violent killings use guns as the weapon. 40 percent of US homes have guns, 57 percent of people in which do have guns believe there should be major restrictions or a ban on guns. In January 2016, Obama announced new actions on gun control, these actions include an update and expansion on background checks. The Supreme Court held a collective right that to own guns is a purpose for maintaining a militia. There should be more gun control laws because it would help reduce the high rate of violent crimes. More laws need to be made to protect oneself from harm of others.
The United States today can be a scary place. Someone that is disgruntled, has a mental health issue, radicalized through terrorist propaganda or for any other reason can take up a firearm and mass murder innocent people. It can happen anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Anyone that pays attention to any news or newspapers has probably heard something about gun control. It’s a hot topic in this country and around the world. There are a lot of problems with gun control and regulating guns in the United States. Before you can talk about solutions you need to isolate the problems keeping the solutions from being realized. When high-capacity magazines were used in mass shootings, the death rate rose 63% and the injury rate rose 156%. If the constitution passes laws on high capacity magazines guns, then it will reduce the gun ownership. It proves that these guns are making people from killers into massive killers. People are inspired by others. When an individual sees other people using a gun, then, they become interested in using that machine too because that is the nature of humans.
There are numerous challenges faced by today’s youth. Teenagers encounter many obstacles and choices as they become adults. There are things they agree with, disagree with, think that should be different, or wish to remain the same. A controversial topic in the United States today is whether the age limitation for buying firearms should be changed.
Along with many other reasons, guns do not need any more restrictions. No one seems to be taking into account all of the other means of deaths and the death tolls of those actions. Many of the murders in the United States are committed with a variety of resources such as hammers and clubs, drugs, and even vehicles. According the FBI crime files, in 2006 the amount of deaths executed with clubs and hammers were 618, meanwhile the amount of murders rifles were used in was only 438 (Hawkins, “FBI: More People killed…”). This clearly portrays that rifles are not as much of a problem as it may seem. It shows that something so simplistic and common can cause more deaths than a sophisticated rifle. No matter what the weapon may be, simple or complex,
Gun control can be defined as “the use of law to limit people's access to handguns, shotguns, rifles, and other firearms” ("Gun Control"). In other words, the government initiates a set of new regulations that gives the government the right to strip and monitor the firearms owned by the gun owners. The new demand for legislators to acknowledge and reform the gun laws present today because statistics show how guns has contribution to killings in America and the horrific tragedies. Every year in the U.S., an average of 100,000 people are shot, according to GunPolicy. Out of that 100,000 people shot, some of those victims consist of children, bystanders, fathers and mothers. The lethality of guns in 2011 firearms was responsible for 32,163 deaths in America (Alpers). Firearms have been used recklessly and claimed thousands of lives of Americans, increasing the death rate. If gun control was in effect and passed by legislators the deaths in America from firearms would not be so large. What also contributes to these facts is the ability to obtain guns for violent acts of crime which why the government need to suppressed and monitored firearms.
Some people are for the increase on gun-laws and regulations, and others aren’t. Regardless of what some people’s opinion might be, something has to be done. Whether it be in deciding to make sure everyone who wants to buy a gun has to undergo an extensive background check or the government deciding to regulate how many guns one person is allowed to have in their possession, either one of those would have a major impact on the total number of mass shootings that occur
