“A gun is a tool. It has no emotion or feelings. It cannot make decisions or take action. It does not know hate. It does not discriminate, take sides, or judge others. It is morally neutral. It is no better or worse than any other tool. A gun has no action without a user. Remember that” -Anonymous. As our world seems to grow increasingly violent, and mass shootings seem commonplace, many government leaders are pushing for certain gun laws that would ban the public from owning firearms of any sort. This is wrong, because as United States citizens, we have the right to bear arms. Despite a recent increase in gun violence within the United States, government leaders should not create laws which would restrict gun usage, should it involve magazine capacity, concealed carry, or the eradication of assault weapons for the public.

Gun violence is studied to determine its causes and how to reduce it within society. In many studies, it has been proven that firearm owners have used their weapons in self defense many times (“Methodologies for Studying” 2). When citizens were given the right to concealed carry, crime was reduced, especially violent crime (“Methodologies for Studying” 3). This has been proven in Florida, where the concealed carry law has been active since 1987. However, there will always be some form of danger around when guns are present. One theory is that often, a person killed in a homicide is an owner of a firearm, proving that being around guns causes crime (“Methodologies for Studying” 2). Studies say that even if firearms were inaccessible to criminals, they would not hesitate to use other legal weapons to commit acts of violence. ...use as United States citizens, we have the right to bear arms. We must be allowed to keep unrestricted ownership of firearms, and if we are not given this, we must fight for it. Our country was founded upon the freedom, and one of these freedoms was the right to bear arms. If we lose this right, it will display a loss of our basic human rights and our dignities. It is believed that by eliminating guns, violence will cease to occur, yet criminals will always be able to obtain weapons, no matter if there is a law or not. We must be able to have armed, honest, courageous American citizens in our society to be able to protect the innocent from firearm attacks. Recently in Illinois, the right to concealed handgun carry was granted to citizens, showing that the right decisions are being made in government, leading to a better, safer tomorrow for all American people.
