There is a lot going with Earth, it is constantly changing through climate change. Climate change is a global or regional change in climate patterns. It consists of changes in temperature, precipitation, humidity, winds, and seasons. The climate plays a fundamental role in shaping the economy, cultures, and Earth’s ecosystem. The climate is taking a hit due to global warming. Global warming is a bundle of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane that builds up heat in the atmosphere. As years gone by, global warming gradually began heating the Earth 's surface, ocean, and atmosphere. Although global warming is a problem not taken seriously or being known, people should be aware of the affects of global warming, how it is seen affecting the …show more content…
America’s per capita emission of heat-trapping gases is 21 tons. (“Ten Personal Solutions”) This is four times the global average and it is twice the standard living in similar countries, like France and Japan. This does not mean we should make drastic changes to show improvements. Making smart choices and understanding the areas that produce the most carbon emission, will show impact in reducing global warming. Transportation produces 30 percent of all U.S. global emission. Cars emit 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. To reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released, use cleaner fuels. Cleaner fuels produce fewer emission when being burn, like cellulosic biofuels. Cellulosic biofuels are alternatives that are produced from wood, grass, and inedible parts from a plant. Cellulosic biofuels can reduce emissions by 80 percent. (“Cars and Global Warming”) Another way to lower carbon emission is to upgrade infrastructures. According to David Biello, writer of the article, “10 Solutions for Climate Change,” wrote, “Buildings worldwide contribute around one third of all greenhouse gas emissions (43 percent in the U.S. alone).” (Biello) Investing thicker insulation can be money saving, but it is a long run because electric grids are in capacity tend to overload and the demand for power continues to rise. It takes a lot of cement, a source of greenhouse emission, to build buildings. The U.S. alone, releases 50.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere in 2005 from cement production. (Biello) However, with energy-efficient buildings and an improved alternative of making cement, it can reduce greenhouse
The climate on the Earth is changing. Ice age is interleaved with the global warming. In the present age, the temperature of the Earth's climate system continues to rapidly increase and it leads to global warming. Global warming is the process of gradual growth of average annual temperature of the atmosphere of the Earth and World oceans. The average temperature on the Earth was increased by 0.6C. There are various reasons for global warming, such as human activities, natural events, increasing of gases, such as carbon dioxide in atmosphere and solar activity (Global warming).
The article “an introduction to climate change” describes in detail about the causes of climate change, and its potential effect on earth. According to this article, the global warming is due to the accumulation of carbon dioxide and other pollutants formed from burning fossil fuels that accumulate on earth’s atmosphere so that light rays are reflected back to the earth surface causing the atmospheric air to heat up. In addition, the article also gives some relevant solutions to global warming such as reducing air pollution and use of “clean energy.”
Climate change. The two letter word so feared by scientists, so ignored by the average human being. What is it that makes scientists fear this phrase so much? For the concept of “climate change” has been seen throughout the history of the earths existence. For centuries, our climate has fluctuated through increasing and decreasing amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide and climatic cycles. So what is the big deal? The problem, and the reason why this concept instills fear directly into the core of scientists is the rate at which over the past 1,300 years atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have risen. This unnatural increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide, due to the immense amount of anthropogenic burning of oil and coal, affects the transfer
Climate change has become of the world’s major issue today. The earth’s climate is always changing in a very fast and also in different ways. Climate changes affect our lives psychologically, emotional and also physically. Climate change is defined as a long term change in the earth’s climate, especially a change due to the increase in the average atmospheric temperatures. Due to this change in temperature, a lot of changes has occurred in our environment, these changes include rising sea levels, flooding, melting of polar ice caps, hotter days, colder nights and heat waves. These climate changes plays an important role in shaping our natural ecosystem, our human economics and also the most important, it affects the human race. For
My parents grew up in small town in Mexico. There was a little river that went through part of the town when they were growing up. Every weekend or so they would go out and would go swimming with their families, it almost became a tradition to go swimming there until they noticed that the river 's water level was becoming smaller and smaller. Today there is no river anymore, instead it 's a road that travels through the town. Every time I visit my family in Mexico it would alway be nice and warm up until this year when I went in December. I remember waking up and getting ready to go to my aunt 's house in clothes for warm weather. As I open the door, the cold air punch me and I saw snowflakes falling down. It 's not supposed to snow in that
The environment is a very fragile ecosystem that has been damaged by human civilization and the pollution we provide through everyday activities. This is destroyed the atmosphere and had become known as global warming. The past two years has shown just how serious global warming is and will be in the future, and something needs to be done very soon and attempt to reverse these effects. This essay will discuss the start of the solution to end global warming, and what electing Donald Trump to presidency could mean to these plan.
Even if the reason of climate change may be the natural cycles, we humans are the major determinant to it. The huge amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing the climate change and this amount is rising day by day, as a result of our actions. Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, generally absorb and emit the heat in the atmosphere to keep the Earth’s climate habitable. However, as we continue to burn fossil fuels, this habitable Earth’s temperature will blow up, and as a result, some species will die out due to various problems which are caused by climate change. According to EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the most obvious consequence of climate change is the rising sea levels, which will cause some seashore habitats to become unavailable to live to its species.
There are many topics that are debated nowadays, like equality, government, obesity, and so on. But not many people take the time to think about an even bigger problem that could possibly take away our home, the earth, forever and wipe out humanity completely. The underestimated, Climate change. Climate change has many devastating effects on anything that lives on Earth.
Climate change is a persistent issue that is on the rise, and many people have strong opinions about it. Even though climate change may be a powerful debate among many people, it is still a valid threat because many people don’t realize the dangers it can bring in the future. Scientific research shows an increasing trend in global warming, which is already impacting the earth this early. NASA has been on this issue for many years, and they have made predictions that the temperature will continue to increase dramatically over the years. Overall, climate change is a drastically expanding problem that is affecting the world and people need to know how to take action, think about the future, and come together to resolve the issue and the life on
“Climate change is no longer some far-off problem; it is happening here, it is happening now.” - Obama. Everyone can agree, climate change is a huge issue affecting all of us and not many people are doing anything to stop it. Even major politicians admit that there is a massive problem occuring. Although many people do not believe in global warming, there are many studies proving that climate change is an issue because of fluctuating weather patterns, wildlife becoming extinct, and environmental suffering.
What if I told you in 136 years the world will slowly come to an end? What if I told you that it is all our fault? In the year 2016 going into 2017 there is an extensive problem called climate change, climate change is a change in the global or regional climate patterns. Although it seems as if this problem is on a small scale it will continue to be atrocious, limiting us in every way possible. Despite the turmoil climate change will cause the only way we can limit or stop this problem is changing our ways now.
Global warming has become on of the most controversial issues in the media today. While most of the Western world countries have generally accepted the premise that man's chemical emissions in the atmosphere can and are affected by the world’s climate patterns, in the United States, the issue has become so politicized with many republicans challenging the science behind the theory. Global warming is a greenhouse effect whereby gases are trapped on the earth’s surface causing it to heat up (Maslin 14). It is based on the worldwide temperature records that have been maintained by human beings through their activities since the 1880,s. In addition, global warming is not only caused by human activities only but also through climate changes in solar radiance. The problem is that, humans continue to contribute to the global warming phenomenon. All citizens should work in reducing human activities that cause global warming and also support the development of nuclear power. Scientists deem that, global warming is mainly caused by human activities which accelerate the natural process by creating greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Human activities have become a great contribution to the greenhouse effect and this means that climate changes are inevitable. They further argue that, if these activities continue and are not reduced, it will lead to more trapping of energy radiated from the earth and this will likely lead to extreme weather and global warming. Global warming should be at reduced levels or else, it will be catastrophic.
The environment is slowly being destroyed and habitats are being disrupted due to the increase of global warming and its not happening only in one way but in several ways. As stated from an article, “Severe rainfall events and snow storms can delay planting and harvesting, cause power outages … and other wise make it difficult for people to go about their daily business” (Union of Concerned Scientists). The environment has been severely destroyed due to the unexpected weather events that have lead to the disruption of different lands that we use for farming and harvesting and that has stopped farmers from doing their jobs. There have been other affects of global warming on the earth and as stated from the article Effects of Global Warming, “Ice is melting world wide, especially at the Earths poles. This includes mountain glaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica, Greenland, and Arctic Sea Life” (National Geographic)....
Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the human species face today, yet the majority of the population does not pay attention to it. People are not aware of the dangers and do not care about it much because the main effects will affect the next generation and not themselves. Global warming is happening and it is the reason for changing weather and weather extremes such as earthquakes, floods and wildfires. Global warming is caused by societies lifestyle and these lifestyles destroy the environment and affect the whole world. The use of cars, trains, planes, as well as wasting energy for people’s entertainment has a price; this price is that society is in danger.
Global Warming One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”).
