Pueblo Community College is the best college to go to if you are looking to go for two years and then transfer to a University such as Colorado State University- Pueblo. A lot of people use two- year colleges as a stepping stone to a four-year college and/or a bachelor's degree. To ensure that this is a good idea you need to make sure that credits you have earned at your two-year college will count at your four-year college, doing this will save you time and money. Signing up for a transfer program at a two-year college is also something you should do. These programs include the same courses you would take at a four-year college. This will ensure a successful transition. So, what happens when you transfer? Your four-year college will look at the courses you took and the grades you earned at your two-year college and decide how much credit to give you. Each course is worth a certain number of credits, A lot of the time three, and students need to earn enough credits, usually 120, to be able to graduate. Universities can be expensive, especially if the school is out of state of current residency. Attending a community college to save up money is a smart option for students. Being able to c...
A $60 billion plan is being invested by Barack Obama for two free years of community colleges for American citizens in order to help with financial need. That means Obama is trying to get community colleges to be free to students that need extra support as they are living or growing up in an unstable house. Yet, community colleges being free would cause problems for many students that do not belong there. Money then would be given to all the students that are attending a community college, even though some of the students do not need extra support, nor want to be there in the first place. By doing research, it shows that community colleges are affordable to those that put forth an effort and universities would be shied away due to the price
One does not have to graduate high school and go straight to a four-year university. It is sometimes better for a student to go to a community college and focus on transfer courses, or simply get an Associate’s Degree. On the other hand, there are young adults that prefer to leap straight into a university and focus on the specific program for their Bachelor’s Degree. Although they are both a lot alike, there are many differences between the two. Universities are known for having large campuses; consequently, resulting in large number of students in each class.
Graduating from high school is a proud moment in every student’s life. They must prepare what comes next for them whether it’s to get a job, start a career, or pursue continuing education. People should attend a two-year college before a four-year college because of money, teachers, and class size. There are many ways of thinking about whether you should start at a two-year college over a four-year college, and it’s not a wrong answer to which one you choose. The type of college you choose can determine the outcome on how you do in that type of college and how you handle the types of benefits that those colleges provide.
As students near the end of the academic year, they are constantly faced with some of the same choices the generations before them have been presented with too. The biggest question a lot of seniors in high school have to answer is if they are going to be attending college or not. There are a lot of legitimate reasons as to why a person might not attend a college, but I personally feel like everybody should have a higher education if they have the opportunity to do so. One of the biggest reasons that people do not have the opportunity to pursue higher levels of school is the fact that they do not have enough money to pay for it. With the staggering amount of debt, the majority of students incur in college, it is becoming a
What if one day the tuition of your community college was to become free? If you couldn 't afford college would you go? That’s exactly what President Obama is trying to propose in his State of The Union speech on January 20th 2015. In his words he claims “to lower the cost of community college, to zero”. I am a community college student freshman at Frederick Community College. Being a community college student I value my education and feel if this new proposal is to be put in place there will be people who don’t want to be there just like high school. Community college is something that runs in my family as my two cousins have attended a junior college in the past. I am in my first year at community college and can say that it is a lot different from high school as far as the expectations and work load. There are essentially some problems with this new proposal. Once I heard that President Obama
Attending college has changed quite a lot over the years. When it first arose, it was only accessible to the wealthy, and it was unheard of for everyone else. Only a few decades ago, a bachelor's degree could almost guarantee a comfortable job, and it was another advantage to any resume. In our current times, many students struggle and are unable to go to college due to the rising price tag that is not showing any signs of slowing down. A college degree is what most employers look for now-a-day, making it more essential than ever before.
If college counseling is to help students with college and this counseling would be better to
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
Then, when I dared to say that I was going to a community college, I could practically taste the judgement. Even though the current average up-front cost of a four-year university, according to Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill in “Should Everyone Go to College?” is $102,000, I was expected to rattle off the name of some
One of the biggest decisions high schoolers may have is whether or not they are going away to college or staying home. Although both types of colleges fulfill the same sole purpose, there are many differences of going to a community college than a four-year college. Not everyone is ready to move out and live on their own at college. There are many differences into a four year college but there is some similarities like the education, the relationship between the student body, and students independents. The education in a University is different than the Community College.
Riley Whitman 11/11/15 Editorial Free College Many Americans today still debate whether or not out government and country should fully implement free college. Those who are opposed to this idea are concerned with quality and accountability of education for all. For those in favor of the expansion of education, free college represents one of the great hopes for a better world. Even in the poorest nations, people believe and support in the funding of the expansion of universities and other higher learning opportunities are wise investments. Being a college student, I disagree with the idea that the U.S. should implement free college for all U.S. citizens.
The president of Complete College America said, “we think we are doing them a favor by letting them explore without guidance, but we’re really steering them away from success” (Kolodner). Generally, a major will require about 120 credits to complete. When you do the math, students will need to take an average of 15 credits each semester to even complete that amount during the four years (Kolodner). One of the reasons why many students find it impossible to finish college in four years is because of these useless prerequisite requirements they need to accomplish the first two years. Added onto all of the other stress that comes with college, students cram their schedule to make this a little more possible.
I have chosen to go to the local community college to get used to the college experience. College life can be an exciting time but at the same time it can be a challenge. I feel that starting out at the community college would be a better chose than "jumping" into life at a four-year university.
