Do you want your dog to die? What if it bit someone, then how would you feel? Would that bite change your opinion on your dog? The law says it should. There are around 4.5 million dog bites each year and 850,000 of those people require medical treatment. The law recommends that each dog is euthanized for biting someone, which is the act of putting an animal to death or allowing it to die by withholding extreme medical measures, but is it really necessary? According to Dog Bite Law, 850,000 of those people required medical treatment, the other three million six hundred fifty thousand dogs shouldn’t have to be euthanized for what they did. Many people still view these vicious breeds as reasons for discrimination against owners. Dogs shouldn’t …show more content…
When a dog bite is reported on, it is almost always a Pitbull or a Rottweiler, why? Because they are stereotyped! Those two breeds are not the only breeds that bite, but because of the stigma put on them put on by humans, they are nearly always the ones to take the fall. This stigma has spread so far that many innocent Pit Bulls and Rottweilers, along with many other breeds such as Mastiffs, Chow Chows, and German Shepherds are subject to (BSL) Breed Specific Legislation. That is a law which regulates how your dog looks. If the “doggy police” believe your dog could be a threat to society based on how they look, they have a right to put them down. Now you may be asking yourself, what happens if my dog bites someone? Unlike Harambe, the famous gorilla, who on May 28, 2016, was shot and killed after a young boy climbed into his cage at the zoo and the zookeepers believed the best option was to shoot the gorilla, your dog will most likely not be euthanized right away. If your dog bites someone, you will go to the court, and you can have the opportunity to plead that your dog is innocent and doesn’t deserve to be euthanized. If you win your case, the judge will decide whether or not the dog will stay with you or be sent to a dog

People take pain killers at the first hint of pain, What happens when you can’t afford that for your pets? In the blog, “Is It Ethical to Euthanize Your Dog?” (2011), by Elliot D. Cohen, Ph.D, Cohen shares the heavily biased argument for euthanasia, favoring the against side. Cohen’s purpose was to inform the readers about the ethical dilemma concerning euthanasia. Euthanasia can be the ethically and morally correct decision for a couple of reasons; pain and suffering of your pet, overall quality of life, and the tremendous vet bills.
What words come to mind when one hears the words “pit bull?” How about aggressive, violent, or dangerous? In many cases, this isn’t actually true. Because of the negative media attention for attacks on humans and other dogs that pit bull breeds receive, many Americans place a stigma on pit bulls, tagging them as dangerous and vicious. This stigma typically applies to all pit bulls, not just the ones that are actually dangerous. To remedy the issue of dangerous dogs attacking other beings, the legislative act known as breed-specific legislation is being debated throughout the United States. Gary J. Patronek, a veterinary doctor, defines breed-specific legislation as a law than “bans, restricts, or imposes conditions on ownership of specific breeds or dogs presumed to pose greater risk of biting people” (788). Breed-specific legislation is commonly debated in communities that have recently experienced a dog-bite related injury or fatality (Patronek, Slater, and Marder 788). However, this law would ban all dogs of the pit bull breed or any related dog based solely on their breed, rather than disposition. Therefore, breed-specific legislation should not be enacted throughout the United States because is biased against pit bulls and is ineffective in reducing dog-bite attacks by ignoring other aggressive dog breeds.

They can suddenly become killing machines and destroy everything including kill people. They even hurt their owners when they are unhappy. The dogs stand about 50cm high and weigh between 25kg to 40kg. If they want to hurt people, nothing can stop them. Chris Thompson who was one of the people that fend off the dogs said that he had grabbed a pot plant and cracked it over one dog’s head and the shock made them disperse but then they came back and latched onto another person’s hand. A hard pot plant cannot cause any injury on the dog. Mr Keith Kirkpatrick, who is a Brisbane dog trainer and adviser to Brisbane City Council has said, “They’re not a good guard dog because when they bite they switch off. You can tap them on the head but there’s nobody home and their plan threshold is

I identify the justice of my rival’s claim, but I disagree with my rival’s 100 percent about pit bulls having the highest attacks. c. There are many people in the world that hate the way something about them looks. So their way of changing that is to undergo a surgery to fix their imperfections. There are also many ways that you can do the same exact thing with a pet. With any pet there is always things that people might want to change for a health reason or a cosmetic reason. With these procedures there are many pros, but there are also many cons that come with it.
This paper will discuss the prison gang issue that exists in our correctional system. It will list several powerful gangs that populate the prison and jails around the country. Descriptions of the gangs will be given along with their history and courses of action they take to maintain discipline within its culture. These dogs have been caged alone. They have been chained up in the woods, beaten, and made to fight by their owners. The remains of the dogs that had been fought to much, and just couldn’t make it were buried in mass graves, while the females were put on rape tables. When hunting larger animals became illegal, this is when dog fighting became popular. Pitbulls are known for their history with dog fighting. But it is not these dogs fault that they are being put into this fight. It is their owner’s. So really the vicious animal to blame is not the dog, but the human. Typically when Pitbull’s f...
Between the years of 1979 and 1998, there were several fatalities related to dog bites. The top 3 dogs related to these deaths are the Pit Bull, the Rottweiler, and the German shepherd. These numbers have increased over the years at an alarming rate. Why is it that these dogs are considered the most dangerous dog breeds? Some say it is the breed itself, born with a mean trait already wired into them. Animals, like people, are all born differently. Some people are born nice and others are born mean. Difference in personality is the same when it comes to animals. Every living thing has a unique personality. A lot of times, the personality of the dog has nothing to do with the breed of dog. One cannot determine what personality their child will have, therefore it would be pointless to determine what personality a pet would have (Pet-Owner Liability). Just because one Pit Bull is mean, that does not mean all Pit Bulls are mean. It is also important to take into consideration the size of the dog. It is easy to see that the top dangerous dogs are all large when it comes to size. Cesar Millan, also known as The Dog Whisp...
Seeing maimed animals are not pleasant images. Those images sometimes appear across computer and television screens. The advocacy groups who place these images in the public’s view are trying to jolt people into the realization that abuse exists. For every ten seconds that goes by an animal is getting abused (“Animal… Statistics”). One statistic states that “71% of pet-owning women entering women’s shelters reported that their batterer had injured, maimed, killed or threatened family pets for revenge or to psychologically control victims; 32% reported their children had hurt or killed animals” (“Animal… Violence”). Animal cruelty comes in several forms, some of which people do not know. There is animal experimenting, animal abuse, and mistreatment of animals. and through revealing the results from research, one discovers the horrific effects of animal abuse.
Many people would like to believe that animal cruelty doesn’t exist, but little do they know it is still happening all around the world every single day. The treatment we have on animals is unethical. It’s unreal how animal cruelty is still a thing because of the fact we live in a world of right versus wrong. Animals are looked as a form of product instead of what they really are, living breathing creatures. The use of animals in entertainment has been going on for thousands of years. Animals are forced into racing, captivity, violence, all for the sake of amusement to us. The children love to take a peek through the gates and cages of animals in zoos. People who are young and old love to watch the animals race. What people don’t know is that attending these events oftentimes means you’re supporting the abuse that is done to the animals. They have been taken out of their natural habitat, stripped from any rights they had, and forced to comply to the demands of human beings. The unfair treatment given to animals when used for entertainment purposes constitutes animal cruelty.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
