High quality daycares are scarce to come by these days, however they are out there. There are quite a few right in this area. It takes a lot for a family to have to actually go into a facility and observe for a day. I know if I was a parent I would want my child in the best daycare possible. Working at a daycare for about 2 1/2-3 years, I know a lot that they have to offer and I also know how they can be run in a negative way. A lot of the media stories are due to something huge happening to a child and then people start to back away from daycares not realizing that not all facilities are like that. The parent checklist is such a good tool for parents to use. They really should take it to their advantage and use the tool as much as possible. …show more content…
High quality daycares may be sparse, but in order for people to enroll their child, they have to have money. Daycare is hard to pay for as it is.
Infants in most facility are 200 dollars a week. For parents who rely on daycare, you then have to keep them home when they are sick and most of the time for 24 hours or more. That’s around 2 to 3 days of missing work. For 200 dollars a week, it adds up, more so when your child is sick. Am I saying children are expensive, yes and no. When it comes to daycare facilities, the place where your child usually spends more time awake than at home, then I would be willing to pay for a more expensive facility. I would be willing, but it wouldn’t be realistic. My dream is to become a future educator. Everyone knows that teachers do not get a high paying salary, so why I am I putting myself in that position? It’s something I love and have always dreamed of doing. When asked are some sectors of the population better able to access this care than others, yes they are. Even me becoming an educator, having to get my Master’s Degree, there are going to be a lot of high quality daycares I will not be able to afford. Knowing what I do know from working in daycares, I wouldn't feel comfortable or safe to put my child in just any old daycare. I would want to do the parent checklist, observe and maybe even observe my child in the
facility. Just because the daycare isn’t high quaility, does not mean it’s a bad facility. It means you're going to have to do a little more work by researching and spend a little more time getting to know the facility. High quality daycares should be more well known, but they should also be able to be affordable.
Some parents in the world do not discipline their children and do not care what the children. All they care about are them selves. At that point the social workers take the child and put them in foster homes with complete and total strangers. Some companies just put kids with people who do not care about the children just what they get paid. They just let the children go off and do what they want and do not supervise the children’s activities. The social workers should do more thoroughly background checks. There should also be more supervision in foster homes instead of little supervision, and the workers should visit the home and the children more often than they actually do.
There’s a high rate of homelessness among the children who was been in the foster care but age out. Many children are going to the foster care because of many tragedies they already had before they even understand what is life all about. Fortunately, for them, there are some people who try to help them out and give them a second shot at life. And having a child of my own gives me a full understanding how much a parent 's guidance and love mean to their lives and I am trying to introduce adoptuskids.org to help raise awareness of homelessness and adoption to all the people and hoping that the children in the foster care system will get a lot of help, support, and love.
Parents are always questioning whether they would like to have any more children someday. One of the aspects parents think about in this decision is child care. Child care can be pricey and the quality of the child care is also something to think about as well. Parents want their child to grow up and become very successful in life. Choosing a daycare from infant on, is part of the process to becoming successful as they grow. For one to add on to the family they need to think about the quality of child care, the price of child care, and attention of care: how their child will be raised. High-quality child care should be provided at public expense to all working parents!
which prove that a foster home is not the solution to help children in need. Although the
Children who participate in quality early learning programs tend to be more successful later in school. They are also most socially and emotionally competent. In addition those children show higher verbal and intellectual development during early childhood than children who do not participate in early learning programs (A Parent’s Guide to Choosing Quality Child Care). In order for a child care center to be a quality center they must have an educated staff, a program accreditation, and good health and safety practices. Parents choose high quality child care for many reasons. These programs prepare children for school in which they gain intellectual and social skills. Also the programs are a good opportunity for children because they receive age-appropriate learning materials and activities to let the children learn and grow.
Single moms are the most affected and providing childcare on campus is very beneficial to them. More than 4 million women attend two-year public institutions or community colleges, and more than 1 million of them are mothers. Many student mothers struggle to stay enrolled all the way through graduation. Most of them are more likely to drop out of school, and the reason is because most often there is no affordable or available childcare and the students have limited financial resources. The average daycare center cost for an infant is higher than a year’s tuition and fees at a public college. It makes affordable on-campus child care a necessary provision for students. Childcare on campus helps to contribute to the learning
Everyone knows about foster care but do not realize the impact it has on humans ' lives. “More than 400,000 children are placed in foster care annually, with more than 200,000 moving in and out of foster homes in giving year” (Brozak, 1). Foster care changes and benefits people live, from the child to the parent. By foster care you save more lives than just the foster child. Although, foster parenting come with barrage of challenges. It provides many advantages for the people in need. Having foster children in your home is a blessing to the child, foster parents, and birth parents.
Having your child in an In-Home daycare facility may not be such a great idea either. After reading the article The Hell of American Day Care, many parents vowed not to let their kids go to In-Home facilities. Because the rules and regulations for In-home daycare workers aren’t strictly enforced.
Daycare’s focus is mainly on a child’s development through social interaction with children and caregivers. There are head start programs that are geared to give children a foot in the right direction in order to be ready for preschool or kindergarten. The right kind of childcare can be a wonderful opportunity to promote the profound learning children experience from birth through age five (Selecting Child Care, 2002). When selecting childcare for your child, the Foundation of Early Learning has offered some tips that they believe will be helpful in the process. The foundation says that parents have always known that a good early experience is important for their child.
Foster Children who are emancipated out of foster care are in danger of becoming homeless because Foster Homes are allowing many unfit parents to adopt, they are emancipated before they can find a job that can support them, and they are not being taught the skills to avoid homelessness.
It’s been noted that recent studies specify that “more than half of all 3-5-year-old children in the United States attend child-care centers prior to kindergarten” and “Given these high usage rates, the quality of these early child-care experiences has become an important public policy issue” (Peisner-Feinberg 2001). It is believed that part of the issue is a result of parents not knowing what the primary purpose of daycare/child care facilities are and what high quality daycares consist of in considering a their child should attend.
When seeking a career, it is important to see the future growth of the job and the salary. It will determine how difficult it will be to find placement. Early childhood educators are the first people to truly show an impact on children and will always be needed. The projected growth of early childhood lead educators between 2014 to 2024 is 7% (Elrick). They will be needed in the upcoming future and the projected growth is said to go up even further. The median annual salary in the United States is $28,120 (Elrick). Many people do not choose this career because the salary is very low compared to the amount of hours spent. Early childhood educators spend a lot of time and energy for these children. They also have to understand that their pay is considerably low compared to many other
With all said and done, I think day-care is not a bad place for a child to be after all, as long as no one takes advantage of the situation. This means that the people supervising the children in day-care centers should not take advantage of their parents’ absence to mistreat them, and neither should the parents use day-care as an excuse not to spend quality time with their young ones.
As a child, I loved being babysat. Hanging out with older kids and having some independence from my parents for a few hours was a blast for me. I always knew that I would want to babysit when the time came, but I was always skeptical as to why it was considered a job, because it seemed easy to me. When I was around 8 or 9, I had two main babysitters. Babysitter A put on a movie for us and texted her friends on her phone. Babysitter B played games with us and made us fun dinners. Whenever my mom asked me which babysitter I wanted I always asked for Babysitter B. From that experience of always choosing one girl over the other I learned that being a babysitter is not as easy as it seems.
My mom was a hard worker when I was a child. She worked Monday-Friday from 6am-6pm at a nursing home and on Sundays she worked for a church. Even though she was always at work we still didn’t have a lot of money. We didn’t have a lot of money to afford a lot of things such as a babysitter. Age really shouldn’t determine a person's ability or maturity when it comes to this sort of thing.
