Contact sports can give kid’s serious brain damage. This brain damage can potentially lead to deadly diseases such as CTE, a pathologic condition that stems from repetitive head trauma such as concussions. Younger children and teenagers brains are still developing. This could mean contact sports are even more threatening to children of a younger age, because they could lead to serious, sometimes fatal, brain damage and it can stunt a child's growth. These are just a few examples of what contact sports can do to a child, so the question is, if contact sports can affect people in such horrible ways, should parents let their young kids play?

For example Jake locker a former Tennessee Titans player retired after just two years because he was scared for himself getting too injured. This is a great example of an experienced football player who has come face to face with the dangers of contact sports and decided to take it as a warning to stop. This could be used as a warning to parents to keep their kids off the field. Adrian Peterson, an NFL running back, also has recognized the dangers of sports, this was shown when Peterson decided not to allow any of his three sons play football. This is proof that the sport needs to be safer, because the guys who know the most about it won’t even let their children play.
Many Parents who have seen their kids go through CTE also recommend kids not to play at young ages. Debra Pyka was one of them when her son Joseph hung himself in her garage. Debra said he was always the class clown and loved school but CTE took over his brain. Debra is now trying to make football a fourteen year and older aged sport because she knows better than most about what CTE actually can do.
