s football too dangerous for players? Because of recent discoveries about chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), many believe football is too dangerous, and rules need to change. Those on the other side of the argument believe football players know the risks and thus should be allowed to play. Today, I will discuss why I believe that football is a game with risks, but football should be allowed to continue in high school.

Rapid acceleration or deceleration of brain tissue within the skull causes brain tissue to change shape and can stretch and damage brain cells. A few years ago, athletes were encouraged to "shake it off" and tough out dings and bell ringers. During the movie, Dr. Bennett Omalu, states that getting a concussion is “like pouring wet concrete down the kitchen pipes-it chokes the brain.” He also referenced the the trauma is equivalent to the Woodpecker and the G-Force they exert when pecking repeatedly at the tree. That pecking is the G-force equivalent to hitting the head with a hammer. Dr. Omalu went on to state that the Cat Scans of these football players brains were normal. The irreversible damage caused by repeated trauma and concussions to a person’s brain are not seen on the scans.
