Would a person drive a vehicle if they knew it was not safe? With modern day technology, vehicles have become much safer than they were fifty years ago. Many tests are done on the different makes and models of vehicles to make sure that they are safe before people are allowed to buy them. Purchasing a vehicle is a big decision. Research needs to be done before making the big decision of what vehicle to buy. When making that decision, would you want to buy a car if it is not the safest vehicle out there? Not everyone can purchase a truck due to different life situations. If life did not influence how a person purchased a vehicle, would that person become a proud new owner of a vehicle if it is not the safest out there? Modern day cars are …show more content…
When an inventor comes up with a new idea for a vehicle, they first draw it up and use computer models to test their theory on how their new idea will hold up in a crash. After the new vehicle idea passes the computer testing, an actual model of said vehicle is made to put through physical testing. A crash test dummy is put in to the driver seat as the vehicle has “accidents” from all angles. Different makes and models of vehicles are first crashed in to walls from all different sides to test how they hold up. As the testing continues, cars are crashed into cars and cars are crashed into trucks. There are still some vehicles that are safer than others. It is with all of this rigorous testing that it has become known that larger trucks are actually safer than passenger cars. What makes a truck safer than a car, you might ask? According to Patrick Bedard of Car and Driver, “Large vehicles usually have more crushable distance surrounding the passenger cabin, more self-cushioning. They also have more empty interior space around the occupants, which gives more room for them to move against their restraints during the impact without smacking anything hard. Vehicle size protects in both single-vehicle and car-to-car crashes.” Just the bed of the truck could save occupants lives in the event of being rear ended. The engine compartment of a truck is also much larger than a car due …show more content…
I feel that if I were to be in a head on collision with a small car I could just go over the top of them. I also think that my son is safer in the back seat due to the large truck bed. I think that a large pickup truck is safer than a passenger car due to the size alone. As mentioned above, Car and Driver stated that the spacious cab of a pickup truck keeps passengers safer. I agree with this completely. The Ford F-250 has such a larger interior that it would take a lot of force in an accident for another vehicle to reach the truck occupants. According to the website fleet.ford.com, there is 40.8 inches of head room in the front seat of the Ford pickup truck. The back seat has almost the same amount of room at 40.4 inches. Consumerreports.com, states that a small car like the Chevrolet Cruze has just five inches of head room in the front seat. Some cars like sports cars have even less space. This means that in a collision, the occupant of the car is more likely to have head trauma than those of the truck. Leg room for the Ford truck and the Chevrolet Cruze is both forty three inches. Leg room is not quite as important as head space, broken legs will heal but head injuries can be more complicated. The large truck bed of the Ford pickup truck keeps the occupants safe in the event of a rear end collision. Truck beds can be anywhere from six and a half feet to
This truck was built and engineered to handle extreme hauling and towing work. Its foundation is a super-strong full-length, fully boxed steel ladder frame that makes the truck seemingly invincible; thanks to this frame, this truck will hold together on the roughest and most torturous roads imaginable. This solid frame also gives the truck the capability to haul and tow massive loads. This truck also features a heavy duty suspension system that does a good job of cushioning its passengers from the roughness of the road. You are assured of comfortable rides with this truck. The Ford F250 Super Duty 7.3 Diesel can be had in regular cab, Super Cab, and Crew Cab body styles, so you can choose the body style that is most suitable for you. The Ford F250 Super Duty 7.3 Diesel also offers a spacious, well-equipped cabin that can hold up to three passengers in the Regular Cab models and up to six passengers in the Super Cab and Crew Cab
In a car crash, the more weight there is, the risk of injuries drops (Williams, May Twenty-second, 2015). In most semi truck accidents (about seventy percent of semi truck accidents), when only the semi truck and trailer alone are involved, there are no deaths. But when another vehicle (such as a car, van, or pickup truck ) is involved, about ninety-eight percent of the time there is at least one fatality, which is really low compared to some other means of transportation (such as a train or an airplane) (EJustice, 2012).
...has way more space for when you go on long road trips. The reason people do not decide to buy Chevy truck over Ford or Dodge trucks is because they are not as comfortable, they're not as roomy, and they do not look as good as Dodges and Fords. Most people would look to buy a Dodge over a Ford to because Fords do not have the most comfiest seats and they do not have as much storage or leg room. Dodges pros outweigh its cons so there is no reason why not to own a Dodge. Dodge is much more comfortable than Ford or Chevy so buy a Dodge and do not get sore when you drive because driving is supposed to be fun.
The Dodge company does not make their claims lightly. They back up their statements with strong support. One example of this is their assertion that they have a "roomy, even more economic interior" and a "big, comfortable backseat" that help to separate their truck from the competition. Even more convincing is their factual evidence by J.D. Power and Associates, noted for their credible analysis of cars and trucks, who ranked the Ram Quad Cab as the "Most Appealing Full-Size Pickup" for the third year in a row. These facts, coupled with an appealing and vibrant picture of the truck, draws the reader in and makes him more interested in the product.
So, the pick up truck will suit you if you are looking for a vehicle with a high torque and power. Durability Pick up truck are more durable than any other vehicle. This is because they have stronger bodies. Also, their rear bed is separate from the cab.
There are approximately 5,400 deaths per year that are linked to distracted driving, and thousands more were injured. (U.S. Department of Labor). Those fatalities are our neighbors, close friends, and even family. How can we prevent this from being so prominent? How can we make the roads a safe place to be again? These questions have many different answers, but many prove to be un-effective. I believe that the best and only way to resolve this issue is to implement tougher laws on cell-phone use in vehicles, and educate our youth to the best of our abilities on the dangers of distracted driving.
In the 21st century, our nation is facing a major issue, causing teenagers to lose their lives at the hand of the wheel due to inexperienced driving. “Teen drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 are four times more likely than older drivers to be involved in an automobile crash,” and statistics show. Automobile accidents are the number one cause of teen deaths. Driving regulations are in high need to be changed in order for teenagers to gain more experience with driving before taking the driving test, which could help save countless adolescence’s lives.
The move toward a more aggressively styled and higher riding vehicles have caused unintended consequences and risks. The risks include decreased “drivability”, obstruction of vision, and concerns surrounding safety. Current trends in vehicle design focus on addressing these problems to achieve appealing designs with the best qualities of both cars and trucks, as seen in all the new designs from the Land Rover.
Whether it is a text massage from love one or a bite of a sandwich, it is not so important than a human life. Distracted driving is an epidemic, so more tough laws should be implemented. The law for distracted driving should be tough just like a driving under influence. Distracting driving is a killer on the road, it should be banned because, it is the number one killer of the U.S. teenager in the road, not only the teenager in the road, but also cause a collision which is often fatal, and some incident were driver or one who involve on an accident became disable. Distraction is an involvement of driver where his or hers eye or mind are engage and performing on other things rather than driving, such as while talking on
...ture a risk-taking species. In ancient times we took risks just to eat. Later we took huge risks by setting out in little wooden ships to explore the earth's surface. We continued as we sought to fly, travel faster than the speed of sound and to head off into space. We rely on increasingly more complex equipment and constantly strive to design and manufacture faster and even more elaborate devices. It goes without saying that every effort is made to ensure our "safety"; to keep us from harm or danger. Every time you slide behind the wheel of your vehicle you are taking a risk. Driving is the riskiest activity in our lives. It is an inherently "unsafe" environment. The most perfect vehicles on the best designed highways on beautiful sunny days driven by fallible human beings crash into each other. The only way to drive "safely" (as we are all admonished to do!) is to learn more about the process. Learn more about your vehicle and how to maintain it; learn how to use your eyes to look far down the road; learn to spot problems before they happen; and also learn to deal with emergency situations. In most cases it's the human element that fails. After all, safe is only as safe does.
A car with good handling and stability is much safer to drive than a poorly designed one. This is because it grips better and is more responsive.
Automotive executives touting self-driving cars as a way to make commuting more productive or relaxing may want to consider another potential marketing pitch: safety (Hirschauge, 2016). The biggest reason why these cars will make a safer world is that accident rates will enormously drop. There is a lot of bad behavior a driver exhibit behind the wheel, and a computer is actually an ideal motorist. Since 81 percent of car crashes are the result of human error, computers would take a lot of danger out of the equation entirely. Also, some of the major causes of accidents are drivers who become ill at the time of driving. Some of the examples of this would be a seizure, heart attack, diabetic reactions, fainting, and high or low blood pressure. Autonomous cars will surely remedy these types of occurrences making us
"I'm a good driver.” Bad drivers are out there so why not protect yourself. "I don't want to be trapped in the event of an accident.” Look if you are thrown from the vehicle, you are 25% more likely to be fatally
Nobody goes onto the roads with a hope to die, we all want to come home to your families. This will be if we drive safely. Safe driving should come from within us and it is very much possible to prevent the road crushes that are being reported every now and then, occurring from mere destructions (2). Safe
Although there are many unsafe things that people should not do while driving such as, texting, reckless driving, speeding, and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, however, they still do it because they think they will not cause an accident. No one ever expects to get into a car accident one day while they are driving minding their own business heading towards their destination and suddenly being hit by someone ending up with head and back injuries and a broken hip bone or even fatality. The use of a seat belt may not save you from bodily injuries but it certainly can keep your body in place preventing you from being ejected out of a vehicle that has come to a halt. I’d rather be held in a car during a car accident than to be thrown on the side of a road any
