Animal cruelty is a problem quickly growing in today’s world. Animals are being beaten, starved and killed everyday and so many helpless animals die each year because of heartless owners. There are a lot of types of animal cruelty some of the common forms are scientists doing experiments on dogs, or when people abuse and mistreat animals. If someone wants to hurt an animal that has done nothing to them needs help so they don't think that way. Acts of cruelty and indications of minor personality flaw in the abuser someone has to really be hurt to harm a harmless animal. Acts of cruelty indicated personality flaws about people. God wants the animals he created to be treated well on this world. God expects us to care for animals.Throughout the Bible God has shown that he expects us to care for animals in particular ways. By legalizing hunting (Hunting) “people argue that hunting should remain legal because 2 million people die every year from low protein intake”. Animals and humans aren't the same humans are stronger in their body than animals. (equate) That is why hunting should remain legal. Somehow we need to know if certain medications are safe for people to take. Dead animals aren't needed around so they test on them. (experimentation) Dead animals are not needed in human lives so they should be tested on instead. Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being battered and starved everyday. There are many forms of animal cruelty; some forms are scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment.
Ascione’s (1993) definition of animal cruelty is defined as “socially unacceptable behavior that intentionally causes unnecessary pain, suffering, or distress to and/or death of an animal” exclusive of socially condoned behavior, such as legal hunting and certain agricultural and veterinary practices. Not all violent individuals have been previously cruel to animals but studies have shown that a great number of them have exhibited this behavior. A great majority of the literature calls for a better understandin...
Animal cruelty occurs all over the world. The human race has a major effect on the natural world, especially animals. Animal cruelty is an example of how man has taken advantage of his power. Those exhibiting cruelty towards animals have been proven to have a tendency to harbor violent psychological problems. Animal cruelty occurs all over the world. Fortunately, many countries have enacted laws and penalties to stop this harsh behavior.
Should animals have to go through pain and suffering? Should they have to go without food and/or water? The answer is no. Animal abuse happens everyday and it happens because people are barbarous or because they don’t know how to take the best care of an animal that they have. Whatever the reason it’s still not right and will never be okay. This paper will cover a brief history of animal abuse, the statistics, the signs of animal abuse, and what can be done to stop animal abuse. Animal abuse needs to end for the animals that can’t speak for themselves.
Would you like to try a dog limb with the salad? These are the exact word that I heard from the Korean air hostess when I was first traveling to the USA. I still remember she passed me a wrong serving plate. This incident really affects me a lot because I had never seen meat before in my life. It makes me think about how the meat industry is widely spread and how it is regulated by the governmental agencies. Factory farming is a system of rearing livestock using intensive methods by which poultry, pigs, or cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled conditions. Today, factory farming dominates the U.S food production to fulfill the excessive demand of the peoples. Most of the factory farms are run by the giant corporations and their
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
You wake up in the hospital, look around, and find a doctor hovering nearby declaring that you have just suffered through a heart attack; affirming that if not for your dog, you would have died. You remember back to earlier that day: sitting on the couch, feeling a little off, hearing your dog barking, sensing him nudging you, going to the phone to call the ambulance, and having your dog by your side until you were safe inside the aluminum walls of the emergency vehicle. Although it sounds abnormal that a dog would be the one to save someone’s life, situations similar to the one above are not uncommon. Dogs and other household pets have been shown to be able to detect medical emergencies, including heart attacks and seizures, in their owners.
According to the Humane Society, 4-5 million cats and dogs that live in shelters are euthanized each year! This does not include the total number of pets in families who choose to euthanize their pets. In the article, "Rare White Rhino Population Drops to 3 with Euthanasia at San Diego Zoo," we are told that there are only 3 White Rhinos left in the world, due to euthanizing. According to the Washington Post, a 41-year-old white rhino named Nola, was put to sleep due to a bacterial infection and age-related health problems. It is vital that we stand up and realize what is right for animals. We need to have a voice and speak for them because they cannot speak for themselves. We need to realize that the practice of euthanizing is not right. It is not our right to determine when an animal should die.
Every sixty seconds, another animal is abused (ASPCA). That is a lot of animals, considering that statistic is global. By definition, animal cruelty is : “... when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly, like not giving a dog or cat food and water. It is against the law to be cruel to or harm animals, even your own pets. It’s also called animal abuse, or neglect (PAWS).” Most everyone is fully aware that animal cruelty is illegal and punishable by jail time and/or fines. However, there have been many cases where animal abuse had gone unnoticed and unpunished. Maybe this is due to the fact that animal abuse takes many forms, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s really illegal or not. Illegal or not, it’s definitely
Animal cruelty is something that is overlooked in society, partly due to lack of knowledge, and partly due to human arrogance. People do not let themselves believe the fact that animals are being tortured for their own benefit. Taking advantage of nature, humans are enforcing their strength to further their own species at the expense of other species. As it is now, animal experimentation causes adverse effects, which outweigh the potential benefits which come of it. A change in the focus of the experimentation could solve the problem of unnecessary torture while still capturing the advantages.
“Life is life’s greatest gift. Guard the life of another creature as you would your own because it is your own. On life’s scale of values, the smallest is no less precious to the creature who owns it than the largest” (Biggle). Life is important no matter who or what they are, animals deserve a life as well as humans. Therefore, no animal should be scared of not being adopted or having a chance to be euthanized. Although animals are known to be able to live on their own for a minimum of two weeks, no animal should have to fight for the right to survive. As humans, they have the right for their freedom, so they should also. Having a large amount of people donating to Non-Profit Animal Welfare Organizations will be beneficial for abandoned animals and adoption rates will grow.
People around the world have grown fond over animals and keep a majority of them as pets in their households. Animals don’t know what’s right or wrong and shouldn’t be blamed for their actions. Many people abuse animals like dogs and cats just because they’re angry or the animal did something it wasn’t supposed to do. Animal Shelters around the United States have abused and killed animals just because there wasn’t enough room in the shelter. Shelters around the United States get away with abusing animals and usually get off with a slap on the wrist. These acts are repulsive and it should be illegal to kill animals in the shelter just because there isn’t “enough room” to put them there.
Creating an environment in which animals are regarded as a relative equal is not only difficult, but it is near impossible to control. The goal is to create an environment where animal rights become as natural to society as rights for the mentally handicapped and others that cannot speak for themselves. Many people would agree that animals are below humans, that they are a part of the food chain and need to be used to help humans survive. Stating that animals are meant to be used for human good puts us above nature, it places us as gods, and we decide when they live or die. There are many problems that need to be addressed like livestock and domestication of animals. All these situations need to be examined carefully to fully understand why they exist.
Animal Cruelty In the United States, an animal is abused every 60 seconds. Neglected and terrified, these animals are constantly fighting for their lives (“Every Animal Deserves a Second Chance”). As common and harmful as it is, animal cruelty was not a felony in all 50 states until just a few months ago (March 14, 2014) when South Dakota effectively set the new law, making animal abuse a crime countrywide (Berry). Just because animal abuse is illegal, doesn’t mean that people aren’t continuing to commit these atrocious acts of violence. Although laws against animal cruelty do help supply most of the animals in the United States with legal protection, they do not adequately aid the progress of an animal’s rights.
Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the human infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defense or survival. More narrowly, it can be harm for specific gain, such as killing animals for food or for their fur, although opinions differ with respect to the method of slaughter.
