According to a 1997 survey conducted by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, “[A curfew] provides officers an opportunity to intervene with potential issues before problems develop. Periodic sweeps remind the public about the law officer. Curfew enforcement has, in large part, become a part of routine enforcement” (US Conference of Mayors). Most adolescents do not see a logical point in having a curfew, but they don’t always realize that parents and other adults only want what is best for them. Curfews allow for parents to keep an eye on their children, keeping them safe and away from harmful situations. It is important to inform others, adults and teenagers alike, of the advantages of a curfew, in order to allow everyone to take better care of themselves …show more content…
Sarah knew the council was only looking out for her and her peers’ best interests and safety, but she still did not enjoy the restriction. She wanted to be young and spend her teenage nights doing what she wanted. On the other hand, Sarah could instead use her time to start on work that wasn’t due until next week or instead study for upcoming tests. Sarah knew if she couldn’t do what she wanted, she could at least do what she needed to. Now that she didn’t waste her time on having fun and instead did her schoolwork, Sarah ended up getting ahead of her peers, and she soon became one of the best in her …show more content…
Curfews help students by allowing them time to finish or start on their schoolwork, improving their grades and performance in school in the process. As well as helping them in school, curfews will also give adolescents the necessary time needed to get enough hours of sleep to function properly. They will also keep teenagers from getting involved in drugs and alcohol, which could ruin their health if they decide to use these substances. If curfews are able to do all of this and more, then parents should be jumping on the bandwagon and supporting them in order to protect their children from harm. No parent would want to see their children hurt and know they could have done something to prevent it from happening, at least not any responsible parent who cares about their family. To this day, curfews have not been widely accepted, but perhaps in the future, this may change and more parents and other adults will be persuaded to consider the advantages that curfews will bring once brought into
As shown above, curfew laws can play a very critical role in a teenager’s life. It can assist with keeping the city safer, help them get enough sleep, and help them build their personal skill under a well-structured system routine. A lot of people might find curfew laws for teenagers unconstitutional and contradict the first amendment, so they decide not to abide with it. But by doing so, they are placing more a bigger experience to teenagers who are still working on developing their skills to take on new challenges. After all, Teenagers are the future of our society if we don’t teach, coach, direct, and offer guidance their future will be unstable and unproductive and that will affect the entire nation.
Today, teen curfews are commonplace and supported by voters. Bainbridge observes that according to Jet Magazine’s survey taken in 2011, 75% of the voters were in support of curfew laws (13). Parents arrange for young children to go to bed at an earlier time than teenagers (Psychologytoday.com). Teens receive the privilege to stay up later but this can mean that they will be out on the streets later at night. McKinny indicates that curfews are in place to protect the youth from crimes that may harm them or take the children’s lives (Time.com).
Today, teenagers grow up in a world that glamorizes underage drinking. We see it in television advertisements, movies, magazines, snapchat stories, you name it, and we have probably seen it. In the United States the minimum limit drinking age (MLDA) is 21, but in many other countries such as Canada and almost everywhere in Europe, their MLDA is 18 or 19. Many criticize the United States, having one of the highest MLDAs, due to the fact that teenagers haven’t had the opportunity to learn how to drink safely and responsibly. In America most students reach college from the age of 17 to 19 and are drawn into the world of parties, which almost always includes alcohol. The only prior knowledge students have on the subject is what they have gathered from watching their parents, or more likely what they have seen on television or
Strict rules create rebellious teens. Many people think that curfews are a fundamental way to keeping teens out of trouble, but this is not the case. Curfews are neither applicable, justified, nor are they a way to diminish criminal activities committed by adolescents. Curfews are ultimately useless because there are too many reasons that contradict why a curfew would work.

Curfews are here to stop teenagers from roaming the streets at night and causing trouble. In consideration of having a curfew for teenagers, the crime rate has greatly decreased. Many tests and studies have confirmed that curfews do keep teenagers out of trouble. Curfews have helped keep many of the streets safe and free of crime in various cities around the world, even cities in Michigan.
Yes, curfews keep teenagers out of trouble, but they do interfere in young people's lives. Curfews could interfere with teens who have jobs later in the day, especially at night. Teens could be out until midnight or later because they work late hours during the weekday or weekend. Curfews would be a slight problem if they can't be out on the streets after a certain time. Teens could go to night school because they're life may be too busy to have time to go to school during the day.
As an old saying goes “parenting does not come with a guide book”. Most parents fear and will agree that adolescence is the age when the kids are the most difficult to handle. It is the age in which the child is experiencing a transitional stage. The child is experiencing physical changes and psychological human development that brings a desire to try to connect to the world. It is the age when the child starts to become more independent and starts to think he/she knows it all, and that is when problems arise. In this report I will analyze the positive and negative impact of curfews on teens. I will make a comparison and draw a conclusion to answer the question if curfews help to keep teens out trouble.
How can a curfew keep my young teenager from doing illegal activities? Having a curfew provides teens with a limited amount of time to commit any criminal offenses.
For some these outings will be safe and amusing however crime rate tends to increase in the later hours. This will make students more susceptible to rape, sexual harassment, and many other traumatizing events. In the later hours the most common events would be partying. Now many students that party monitor their time spent so that will be able to wake up and get to school the next day. With this new schedule they can enjoy the extravagance of partying in later hours and still arrive to school so that their parents will not be suspicious or angry. As most schools contact the parents if the student does not show up, students will be able to stay later at parties and still not have to have the school contact their parents as they will be able to attend class. It has been proven that as people grow more tired their sense of judgement decreases. This means students will be more likely to do things that can harm them physically, emotionally or mentally at night. This can be things like underage drinking or attempting drug abuse. This will not only put them at risk of the many diseases associated with these items but also will risk them receiving a criminal record. There is also the risk of addiction which can destroy their futures. Addiction can result in difficulty to maintain a job because of their constant need to go out
Boundaries are necessary to keep individuals in order. For that very reason communities believe curfew laws will have a positive effect on teenagers. If these laws are implemented effectively not only throughout communities but in households as well great changes will be made. Curfew laws are needed to help reducing the risk of sleep deprivation among adolescents, to protecting innocent youth from harm, and to lowering juvenile crime rates. If everyone works together to make sure curfew laws are being followed then parents will not have to worry as much.
For most of the delinquent students got caught from their slightly misbehaving act for the first few times is not really a problem. What they don’t know about is that there is a program that can literarily handle even the most delinquent student must also bow down in surrender. The program is called “Weekend School”, also known for many students as “Hellish Torture School.” It was considered the most terrible and awful program and most students were afraid of. Because they believe that if they get into the weekend school, they have only one percent chance of survive. This programs it only available to most of the South East Asia countries middle school and high school. The purpose is to deal with delinquent students who get caught for their

Curfew is the time at which you should be back home and safe. Most High Schooler’s will argue that “it’s stupid” and “I won’t get in trouble anyways”. Curfew for High Schooler’s and younger children is an excellent idea because it keeps students in line and out of possible trouble. If curfew was enforced it would eventually help kids be more responsible and trust worthy. Although some might think otherwise, High Schooler's are irresponsible and can not be trusted enough to not have a curfew.
