Imagine living a life without any adventure or adversity; a life with no struggle a life with no challenges. It wouldn’t be much of a life at all or even a life worth living. Being alive isn’t about just breathing and being conscious rather its is about struggle and using that struggle to create value and to create a purpose in our life. Being alive and having a life is too precious and too valuable to be wasted. We don’t have time to hate ourselves or regret our mistakes because hate is just a waste of emotion and regrets only deepen the wounds. To be alive is to be at peace with yourself and with others, it 's about not being afraid of what 's to come next and embracing your faults and mistakes. Life and being alive is like the journey …show more content…
For example, millions of people died during the civil war so that African Americans like myself could be free and have better lives. it is not a choice but an obligation that we live our lives with purpose, whether that 's pursuing our careers and doing something we love or helping those that are less fortunate. By doing so we not only are we honoring ourselves but those who made it possible for us, so that all those lives that were lost during those harsh times were for a greater cause, because what good does it do for us and those who have fought long and hard for our freedom, if we are swearing your allegiance to a gang and getting locked up and ultimately losing our freedom. That 's not what living is about nor what our ancestors fought …show more content…
Chris McCandless saw life different than most people did. He wished to live in a way where he believed that he was his fulfilling his purpose. Although he left the ones he loved and gave up what he had Chris McCandless did what was necessary to feel alive. Many people like myself would disagree with what he did, and it contradicts with my definition of being alive, it would be wrong to judge a man who made his decisions based on how he believed what being alive is. With that said we can assume that what McCandless was trying to do was to find himself, but “life is not about finding yourself. It 's about creating yourself.” If McCandless were to embrace what he had and coped with what he felt was pointless, he wouldn’t have had to leave it all behind rather he could have used it to create his life
Life is a series of experiences in which each one of us grows into the individual we are now. Every move, each word and thought shapes our person.
...elligence to help him last an extended period of time in the Alaskan wilderness. In truth, McCandless was someone who wanted to find himself. He wanted to get away from a life in which he could not find fulfilment, which is something many others would be able to relate to. Although most people would not go to such extremes to find fulfilment, everyone has a different way of finding happiness and going after what their heart truly desires. For McCandless, his desire was to live out in the wild. Unfortunately, this man of great character did not succeed in getting out alive. However, that does not change the fact that he tried. McCandless knew what he wanted for himself and he persisted, regardless of the obstacles he faced. He put an incredible amount of effort into accomplishing his goals and never gave up, and that is why Christopher McCandless is someone to admire.
In one the passage was highlighted in the book “Family Happiness” that Chris brought with, the author Leo Tolstoy talked about how a person's life should be. “I wanted movement and not a calm course of existence. … which found no outlet in our quiet life.” (p.15) Tolstoy explained how a life should be excited and interesting not just living day by day without any enjoyment. Chris followed his beliefs. He believes that he should live a life that he would not regret later on. That could be one of his reason he was going into the wild to make an excited life. Another passage was also found with McCandless’s belongings is from Henry David Thoreau’ “Walden”. “All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. … a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched.” (p.47) This passage explains the fact that happiness can found in nature. McCandless wanted to found his purpose of his life and Thoreau stated about the importance of the nature. And McCandless believed Thoreau. If Chris McCandless had believed some authors, he would follows that in his whole
Chris McCandless does not wish to follow defined life structure that society enforces to simply be alive, instead, he chooses to take a seek a path to live a life with purpose. Such an eagerness to seek detachment from what is expected by society, is enforced by not only McCandless but also Thoreau. A primary factor resembling this, is McCandless’ view that many people “live within unhappy circumstances...yet will not change…they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism...damaging to the adventurous spirit(40).” The detesting tone risen through the confliction of “unhappy circumstances” and “damage,” to “safety, conformity and conservation,” emphasis his will to separate from a lifestyle lacking change. This is done
To begin with, McCandless’s decision to walk into the wild was acceptable because he wanted to become an inspiration and an individual. Emerson states, “There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance: that imitation is suicide” (Emerson). Chris McCandless left to shun the conformist society that he could feel changing him. Chris wanted the chains that bound him to be broken. Society takes the individual and locks it up and destroys it. According to Emerson, “It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion: it is easy to in solitude to live after our own: but the great man is he who in the midst of the crow keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude” (Emerson). McCandless left his materialistic family to be his own person ad to be unique. The world’s opinion does not make the man wh...
...cover who he was and his purpose. Although many think Chris McCandless suffered while living in uncertain conditions in Alaska ,Chris found his happiness. This is shown in the quotation, “I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL !” This passage shows that Chris had found his peace and happiness in the wild.
... in his attempt to run away from himself, he was unable to truly escape Christopher McCandless. And although he was not truly successful in running away from his identity, McCandless appeared to succeed in running away from society and running away from the predictability of what life would bring. Departing from the heavy burdens he found in his society, his life, and the world was the only way McCandless seemed to truly be happy and he did just that. He let go of his worrying and concern and focused on bettering himself by connecting with nature. Eventually, McCandless realized that happiness is only real when it is shared (189) but without running away from society and the people who cared about him, he would not have stumbled upon that realization.
What is life? No one seems able to agree, and there is no side in between. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, as well as one of the most seemingly unsolvable controversies. Pro-life advocates claim that abortion equates to full-on murder, while pro-choice advocates claim that women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies. With the right to an abortion under attack more and more, even clinics finding themselves under actual gunfire, abortion becomes a bigger debate topic than ever. A woman is a person more than the fetus inside of her, and she deserves to make whatever choice she wishes about her own body. Women should have safe, easy access to abortion in all cases.
Among the files and photographs on the Internet are shocking and perverse things. One particular type of files are called “crush videos”. These videos show well-dressed women stomping, or crushing, small animals under their feet. These small, harmless animals should have certain living rights as living things. These rights should be extended to all animals, no matter what size, shape, or type of animal. With these rights, there are activists that are trying to get people to see that animals are getting abused.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
Eggs came first. Millions of years before mammals, eggs existed, their hard shells unlike her mammalian sister who waddles around, heavily crippled with the burden of her womb. Eggs conferred evolutionary advantage.
Imagine being involved in so much pain and misery, pharmaceutical tests, vaccine tests, Military experiments and training and brain experiments. 125,000 primates are imprisoned in US laboratories every year. In order to take the Primates at a young age from their natural habits, trappers will shoot the mothers from the tree, shock the animals with dart guns and capture the babies who are still clinging onto their dying mother. Do animals not deserve to be cared for the same way people care for other people? In laboratories, primates go through series of experiments that lead up to their death. 90 percent of primates in laboratories develop psychological issues. After being taken from family, Primates are locked in a small steel cage and left to be alone. At most the primates are given cheap plastic toys, scratched mirrors and occasional fresh fruit such as an apple or banana. Primates will eventually begin to
I have always been to asking myself what is meaning of life? or what I supposed to do ? or what I have to achieve? . Meaning of life what 's you have been given? what you have given by different kind of human? Or what I believe or what I do not believe in life .Everybody have Meaning of life it depends between person to person, I found myself when I was young because my parents always talk about experience in their life.Throughout my entire life ,I have wondered about the significance meaning of life that has beneficial for the people, because the life is beginning odds and ending odds .Even though struggle of life, I believe meaning of life are ,regional ,ambition, participate ,achievement ,and happiness .Due to this, I
I can look forward to it and manage my expectations but happens when something gets in the way? I will never have the answer to “What is the meaning of life?”—but I will have the ability to try. There is a reason why I’m always soul searching to become a better me. It’s because the best me hasn’t happened yet. I will never be the best version of myself but I am always a work in progress trying to reach the ultimate goal. Life isn’t about being successful and leaving your “mark on the world.” Maybe life is about leaving a shadow so one can follow in. Maybe that’s why we’re all here—to try and make it easier for the people to come. My fulfilling life hasn’t been fulfilled yet—the best is yet to
Death is something that causes fear in many peoples lives. People will typically try to avoid the conversation of death at all cost. The word itself tends to freak people out. The thought of death is far beyond any living person’s grasp. When people that are living think about the concept of death, their minds go to many different places. Death is a thing that causes pain in peoples lives, but can also be a blessing.
