Every new school year that begins teachers, parents, and student are under the pressure of being successful and every year we try something different a change to make the school better. Theres pressure because of all the rule changes and requirements. One of the changes that can make us a better school is having little homework or no homework at all. People can agree that it is way too much homework on our hands. Teachers are trying to get through lessons fast trying to show through grades and paperwork showing what we learned. There are people that say that there isnt any evidence to show us that homework helps students achieve things, too much of it can overwhelm students and cause them to disconnect from the purpose of school. On the other …show more content…
Students have 6 classes and you have class assignments every day most of them are homework and most the time students have homework in every class every week and its overwhelming because theres days we have 2 to 3 things do the same day. As a result, Obviously, this is a threat to our health as a developing teenager. With so many hours spent in school and homework almost takes my whole day up and like i said before we already have other things we have in our schedule causing us to stay up later than 11 o’clock at night later than we should. With this in mind, doing this on a daily basis can affect a teenagers growth, and result in stress and losing control over their peace of mind because everyone knows that no good sleep leads to other health issues mentally, and physically and can affect easily our performance in school. Stress can cause many things including: no sleeping, low grades, fatigue, unhealthy eating habits, depression, and many more. A teen should not have to face these kind of struggles at such a young age. Most of the times in school kids knowledge are based off of kids doing their homework or not and that makes teenagers feel discouraged. Alot of times you can see that kids do good on tests than they do on their homework, so it shouldnt define how smart you are, being taught how to do something with packets and books just isn’t the same as being taught hands on by an actual human being . Kids lack inspiration
Are children really being sent to school to get a rigorous education? This is a tough question. Children in America are being sent through a public education system that reeks of political and corporate manipulation. This design attempts to force every child into the same mold, which does not let the individual child express themselves, be recognized for their personal strengths, or get support for that with which they struggle. There are many things that continue to contribute to the degradation of education in America, and some of these are private investments in charter schools, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), and an overemphasis on standardized testing.
There are new types of public charter schools that are another form of opportunity inequality because they are almost a public and private school blended together. These charter schools are becoming more popular and their number of students is growing exponentially. A website called uncommonschools.org defines what a charter school is and how their different when they write
NAEP is part of the U.S. Department of Education, it is central to any discussion of whether American students and the public school they attend are doing well or badly.(Ravitch, Reign of Error, chapter 5, p44) Test scores are not the only way to measure education, but also to the extent that they matter and improving. The NCLB is gone now and the common core instead, because there were many disadvantages. For example, the result was disappointing, schools’ foundation was lacking and schools neglected students’ personality and accountability leaving millions of children behind and did not eliminate poverty or close the achievement gap. However, it had some reform on other aspects, I will talk about in the following paragraphs. Due to all students
Since we established our first schools in America, we have been in a constant state of change. We have progressed from schools made purely to teach young white boys the bible so that they could become preachers, to schools that allow women, to schools that are made to prepare everyone for their future. Even though we have had an abundance of good change, we have also had an abundance of bad change. Education Reform, in concept, is a great idea. Society is changing so our schools should be changing at the same rate. Our schools are struggling and we need to work towards reforming them for the better. The problem is, this reform is being put in place and decided by people who have never taught a day in their life. There are many different examples of reforms put in place by people who have never taught, that are failing out students. No Child Left Behind, Common Core State Standards, Race to the Top, and other reforms are all examples of these failures. We need to look back on the mistakes that we have made through these reforms, and use this knowledge to improve future reform.
When you think about school one of the first things that pops into people’s mind is homework. Basically if you have asked your parents or your grandparents they would say that they remember the homework load. Now we all know that homework can be beneficial but also can be very unhealthy with all of the stress that it causes. Over the years the homework load has increased because of the fact that schools think that they need to try to keep up with other countries in academics. And will doing all of this homework now be all for nothing later? The homework load has increased these past couple of years and it is causing a lot of stress on kids and overall is not helping their academics in the long run.
What classes or subjects should students learn about in school to make them well-educated and fulfill the goals of public education? Say what your goals of public education are. This K-12 and state what would be important if you were making those decisions.
Adolescents all around the world stay up playing video games, playing on their phones, playing around with their friends, or cramming in an assignment that’s due the next day due to their procrastination. With all these contributing factors, sleep is the last thing on any teen’s mind. School work has a big effect on teens while trying to do it and do it right and get a good night’s sleep every night. The more and more sleep you get each night, the easier it is to get better grades in school, understand things better, and progress easier and faster. Lack of sleep can cause teens to not care thus making their effort poor on their work while their drive and motivation to learn is
The United States is a never-ending battleground for issues to fester. We as a group of people seem to only be happy when we are unhappy, and everything is open for conversation of improvement. Others can classify our society’s constant need for change and enhancement, as a curse or a blessing. Nonetheless, the education system in the United States is always a hot topic for people to discuss, as it has not been a success with all of its parties. Yet we strive for perfection as a society and as we do, we look at the groups of people that control the decisions made that influence the masses of students that progress through the system. Who can we blame? Is it the teachers union? Or, are the administrators failing these children? How about the school board? Well if it’s not any of these groups it has to be the government, right?
If teenagers don't get enough sleep that can start to become a safety hazard mentally and physically. There have been many students in situations where school can become to difficult and if you're not getting enough sleep that obviously doesn't help. Students in these kind of dilemmas can be to over whelming so people can make very intense situations such as drugs, bad hobbies, and sometimes committing suicide. Too much pressure can be way too much power especially for a student in high school or middle school because they are so young. This can be a very
Aside from this many people still argue that there is not a gap in education. Education is fair, america is fair. If a boy living Chicago, well below the poverty line, wants an education he can get it!
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education. It also keeps everyone up; it has kids and teens staying up until they finish it, the parents trying to help them and the teachers grading it. So, I think that homework is a waste and kids and teens should choose whether they want to do their homework for extra credit and practice or not.
Proper school funding is one of the keys to having a successful school. Americans believe that funding is the biggest problem in public schools. School improvements revolve around funding. There needs to be funding not only in the successful schools but also the schools that aren’t doing as well. In documentary, Waiting for Superman, it talks about how smaller class sizes will help students. Funding is what will help the smaller class sizes. State funding mechanisms are subject to intense political and economic scrutiny (Leonard). Studies have shown that funding is inversely related to accreditation levels (Leonard). School funding needs to be increased, but there must be accountability as well.
Homework is way to stressful for kids who already have enough to do at school, so why give them work to do at home that just adds on to the headache Known as work? Teachers give out homework because they think it is helping kids education. What they don’t know is that the work they are giving out just overwhelms students who don’t know how to do that work. It also means that some students could possibly be getting bad grades for things that they don’t understand. This is very important to my claim because if we have less homework none of these things will happen to students who don’t understand the topic. What can take more experienced students 5-10 minutes can take others longer time periods to complete the work given. giving students less homework you should receive better quality homework. That paragraph should
Education has played an important role in people’s lives and receiving the best education is a right to all humans, but now in days we can see that our education system is in deep distress. This is made evident by the low rate of graduates; that’s why our education system needs to be improved. Many people think that our government is responsible for our bad education system, However, teachers are the real issue even though many teachers are saying they 're doing their best, they’re not. How do we improve our education system? For a start, we need to provide better teaching programs for teachers to improve their skills and make them earn their tenure instead of just giving it to them.
