In the old English epic poem, Beowulf, Beowulf is a hero and the son of Ecgtheow who save the Danes’ lives from Grendel, his mother, and the dragon. Finally, Beowulf risks death for the great good of society because he questions himself if he should fall and suffer death instead of his men, risks his life often when he was young, and fought in three battles with the monsters. Beowulf becomes a ruler for 50 years in the dark nights besides being a king and a hero. There is a caution action and excessive pride in a king like Beowulf. He is no more a Christian king than he is a worthy pagan and his death departs his soul. In the ending of the poem of Beowulf, his death got victory as a hero. In my opinion, I believe that Beowulf is a good king and a hero because his three characteristics as an epic hero has evidence for him.
