Gun control is getting way out of hand. They are actually trying to get guns banned. I believe that the government these days don't trust us. I'm against gun control because it takes away our given rights to own a gun. Some people believe that taking away guns will reduce or even wipe out the number of attacks or killings. The truth though is that nothing will stop the worlds problems. Even if we take away the guns in the world people are still going to be filled with hate and murder. In fact, if we bans guns in the U.S., how will people defend themselves against a robbery or some other heinous act. The answer is that it wont help. Even if guns are banned what's to that people won't but the guns illegally. In this world people will always find a way to get what they want even if that way is illegal. Another reason gun control is bad is that s goes against everything in the constitution. Our founding fathers wanted us to be able to defend ourselves and have the right to own guns. Besides, more people use their guns in self defense every day than to take the life of another fellow man. the ratio to people using guns for defense to that of killing is 80 to 2. That should prove that guns help more than they are a bad thing. The constitution says that we as americans can own guns no matter what. It is unconstitutional to take away that right without voting for it first. Most people only use their guns for fun or for self defense. But all the pro-gun rights think that people only use guns for malice and hate.Over 2.5 million americans use their guns for self defense every 6 months. If we had no guns what's to stop people with a knife or a pipe trying to rob or even kill us? america has a right to own guns and as loyal americans we s... ... middle of paper ... ...nseless people of america defend themselves against a robbery or something else. the answer is that they wouldn't. concealed handguns at least let you have the power to stop and assault directed toward you. If we had no guns we as americans wouldn't be able to protect ourselves against robbers of other things. There are elected officials that are actively engaging in the development of measures to destroy our Constitutional right to bear arms as per the 2nd amendment. Our inalienable right to bear arms is under assault by unlawful and sweeping proposals for gun bans, ammunition bans, ammunition caps, forced gun registration, prognosticated gun confiscation, and more, based upon tragic mass shooting events perpetrated by CRIMINALS and/or the MENTALLY ILL, that obtained weapons ILLEGALLY. This is why I am against gun control. It would eventually destroy the country.
Some people believe that guns should be heavily regulated. In fact, According to Handgun Control ¨laws such as the Brady Act, which requires background checks on gun buyers, have prevented four hundred thousand felons and other prohibited purchasers from buying handguns.” These laws have done their job. This system still has its flaws. They are trying to fix a system that is not broken and usually when someone tries to fix something that is not broken they break it. Also, when there are new laws for gun
First of all, banning guns will not stop criminals from having them, and there are so many ways that these people can obtain guns. It is pretty plain and simple; if you ban guns from everyone crimes will still be committed. Gun control “…ignores the reality that even if guns disappear, bad people will find ways to do bad things” (Wil...
Right now the government has limited firearm purchasing only to people who pass certain steps. Gun control has risen as a controversial subject in the United States today. Many say gun control or banning of all firearms will help protect and make our country a better place. Reasons many are wanting to ban firearms are that the 2nd amendment is out dated and unjustified in this date and time. Writer Eugene Robinson states that “farmers wrote of “arms,” thinking about muskets and single shot pistols. They could not have foreseen modern rifles or high-capacity magazines.” Many agree with Mr. Robinson saying that back when the constitution was written they couldn’t have understood what was going to come in the future. Citizens also believe people have no reason to fight against intruders that come in their home that’s what the authorities are for. If people what to defend themselves why waste the money and time on having police? In this day and age why have weapons why not cut out all firearms and just be one happy country, it’s that simple, but is it really that simple? (“Assault Weapons Must Be Banned in
People have questioned gun control long time. Many people wonder if anyone, aside from those who join the law force, should be allowed to carry guns. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” (Wright 4). Franklin understood that taking guns away from law-abiding citizens would not uphold their liberty. Some people who argue for gun control state many violent crimes involve guns. Others believe a child could find the gun and something bad could happen to the child or others when a gun is unsafely stored. People who argue against gun control might say there is a huge psychological gap between citizens who shoot to protect themselves or their property and those who go into schools and shoot at others. Criminals will always find a way around gun control laws and will be able to obtain and use guns illegally. The second amendment protects gun rights for individual citizens. Reasonable gun control laws and educational steps can be taken to protect the majority of U.S. citizens. Gun control does not only take guns away from criminals, gun control also limits law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves and their families when necessary.
For many years, America has witnessed mass shootings within it’s borders. In 2015 alone, there were 372 mass shootings (Oldham). The question most Americans are faced with is: do we need more gun control or is gun control the problem? With more gun control, it can be made mandatory that protective devices are used on firearms to prevent accidental harm. Gun control creates mandatory laws such as the requirement for an individual to pass a background check before he/she is permitted to purchase a firearm. Gun control has also been proven to prevent suicides due to the increased difficulty of obtaining a firearm. Those who believe that gun control is the problem claim that by removing one 's firearms, you are endangering them to threats that
Take a look at the history of our country and the role guns have played in it. According to the second amendment gun ownership is perfectly legal and guaranteed as a right. There were and are good reasons for this, luckily they are still practiced today. Back in the day guns used to be for hunting and, on the occasion self defense. But when the colonists of this country had enough of British rule, they picked up there own personal guns and went to war and the British saw first hand how powerful the rough band of average American gun owners were. Our forefathers knew that the general population if armed would be key in winning the war. And it was.
The second amendment to the US Constitution shows that it is unconstitutional to have complete and total gun control. The second amendment states that “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” This means that it is the right of an American citizen, abiding by the constitution, has the right to bear arms. Currently, there are over three hundred and seven billion people residing as American citizens. Within the homes of these Americans, forty five percent have a registered gun in their household. As a diverse nation, there are many reasons why there are guns located within a household. Sixty percent stated the gun is used for protection against int...
Guns do not kill people, people do. The American Dream is being able to work towards and achieve whatever makes you happy, whether it be owning your own business, joining the military, or staying at home raising a family, but the only way to reach your dream is to do it without living in fear that your dream will be taken away. In the last couple years mass shootings and attacks on schools have sadly become a common tragedy. Those who have been victims of public shootings or any other life scarring event due to a criminal, along with anyone else who has watched the coverage of the tragedies on the news is somewhat living in fear, but if concealed carry laws were passed then living in fear would be significantly lowered along with crime rates. According to Mike Miller, author of What Happened to Chicago’s Murder Rate After Illinois Upheld Concealed Carry and Why it Matters, “three to four crimes are stopped by a handgun than are committed in the United States every year” (Miller). People would feel much safer knowing they would be able to defend themselves if the time ever arose. When we think or hear about guns most of us jump to the negative effects and stories we have heard. The only stories we hear about guns are how a person’s life has ended because of it, but we never hear how they save a person’s life. It is important to remember the commonly used phrase when talking about concealed carry, “Guns do not kill people, people do.” However, guns are an effective way of protection and states should not make stricter gun control laws because it is ineffective and creates additional problems in today’s violent society.
...he gun debate in America, has many people talking about how dangerous guns could be. Trying to avoid people to buy guns or eliminate guns would not help because guns could be brought illegally. Background checks would only work if the government makes the law stricter but since is not yet strict, then things will still remain the same. Instead, of making more laws, the government should let people carry guns with them because the gun could be used for protection. There could have been a possibility that in the San Bernardino shooting, the 14 individuals who died in the attack, could have survived if those individuals had a gun. Who knows where and when a shooting could happen? No one knows but the one who will commit the crime. That is why having more guns could reduce individuals to get injured or die in a shooting. Which means that more guns will equal more safety.
Some of the reasons for gun control are that it will help the government get a control on us.Hitler in world war 2 used gun control against the jewish people to better control and corral them. Historians have documented most everything about it except what made it so easy to attack the defenseless Jews without fear of resistance. Their guns were registered and thus easily confiscated.(stephen halbrook)If the government started registering guns and know their location left and right they could overthrow us with a flick of their wrist. Imagine your local police coming to your doorstep in your house and taking your only good form of self defense. Then turning right around and kidnapping your children and kids and including yourself.I mean thats what the jews were facing during the holocaust. This is why so people do not support gun control for fear of government taking over us and loss of their guns.also some people use guns to provide food for their family thru the form of hunting.you take away their guns you take away their ability to provide for their family.I believe the government doesn't have a right to take our guns to get a hold on us.But its actually better when the government lets us carry weapons around in our everyday lives.
There is one reaction that is always to be expected after a mass shooting, and that is the call for an increase in control. This can be defined in numerous different ways, and can include a great deal of different aspects. People who call for an increase gun control in the wake of mass shootings are, in general, people who believe that more guns means more crimes. Gun control advocates cite studies that state, “Higher gun prevalence is associated with an increase in homicides, and suicides, and possibly even more residential burglaries” (Ludwig 17). Often times, after mass shootings, those in favor of more gun control look to countries like Australia, Canada, Great Britain and Japan, and their strict gun policy and cite this as the direction
Opposition to federal controls is very strong. People opposing gun control say that federal policies don’t keep firearms out of the hands of high-risk persons; rather, it often creates barriers for law-abiding citizens and violates a citizen’s constitutional right provided by the Second Amendment. Many say, and I agree that widespread gun ownership is one of the best deterrents to crime.
Gun control is an awfully big issue in the United States today. Many people in America don’t agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns and freedom away from law-abiding citizens. Many citizens have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns aren’t very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection when used correctly. The second amendment states “the right to bear arms”; does this grant everyone the right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for the good guy average Joe to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea, and are taking part in the loss of our freedom that was given to us.
A dark shadow crept through the dark house, drawers slid open, valuables were softly removed. Suddenly the lights switched on, the mechanical noise of a 12 gauge cocking splits the silence. This is a criminal’s worst nightmare, not the police, but an angry victim armed with a gun. Our country should avoid gun control for many reasons including; the constitution states in several places that honest citizens should have ready access to firearms, disarming citizens leaves them defenseless, criminals will still get guns illegally, and finally that people, not guns, kill people.
Guns have a long history in the United States. Guns are used for self-defense, but they are also used for hunting. Since guns are a part of the American culture, it is almost impossible to get rid of all the guns in the country. However, by training people how to use the guns properly, giving people the right mental care, and limiting the number of people who can have guns, could stop school shootings in America. Anything in the world could be dangerous if people do not know how to use them.
