Babies Having Babies Teenage pregnancy is a serious concern in our society today where people become pregnant due to the misinformation. The United States had the greatest amount of pregnancies. According to the New York Times Company, over 650,000 teens between 15 and 19 become pregnant each year (Teen Pregnancy Statistics of US). In simple words, becoming pregnant at such an early age brings many difficulties for those young girls such as the absence of attending college to obtain a degree, lower expectations of finishing high school, and trouble with finances. Most teens get pregnant because they want to know what it feels like to raise a child or because they see others with children and they find them cute and want them to themselves. Therefore, the teen turns to their friends for guidance, which may be misleading. Still, some parents do not have insights on how to guide their teenagers on the subject of sex. They are unable to answer the questions and may even be shy to answer them in the best way possible. Further still, they may take the wrong approach and in the process discourage the teenagers from opening up about sex. Second of all, getting pregnant at a young age might be one of the possible child abuse of these young mothers. some teenage pregnancies may result from rape. Most teenagers may expose themselves, unknowingly, to situations where they are sexually abused. They may go to wrong clubs or in unsupervised camps for fun and get raped in the process. Lastly, teenagers tend to experiment with drugs and alcohol, resulting to inability to control impulses. Thus, it is becoming easy for them to engage in unprotected sex. Precisely, when addressing the issue of teenage pregnancy, underlying problems such as peer pressure, parents’ absenteeism, glamorization of pregnancy, and rape must be considered. To sum up, adolescents should be aware that to become parents only must choose the time and nothing else, they might ruin their future and even the baby can be born for a moment of pleasure or madness, so any adolescent must be responsible in their actions to avoid unwanted
Parents are not as smart as they used to be in the sex education area. Many parents are afraid to speak with their children. Some may feel that their children are learning about it in school so why should they say it again. Many teenagers are sent to foster homes because the parents are too busy to take care of their responsibilities. Neglect is a cause for teenagers to get pregnant. They feel that if they have a child that they can be loved.
After a teen gets pregnant they start thinking of a way to hide it from their parents,The big problems start then. Many reasons teens think of are suicide, abortion and many other reasons. Abortions are becoming more frequent due to the ignorance and intolerance of certain societies around the world. This leads to the death of many teenage mothers as well as their children. There a lot of things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual encounters at a young age. Another reason is the lack of guidance due to parents that do not take care of their children. For some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens pregnancy is unplanned (Website Title: Teen Ink,Article Title: Teenage Pregnancy,Date Accessed: April 03, 2014).
Even though many teenagers are not expected to be involved in such risky behavior, many are. According to Guttmacher Institute, “70 percent of teenagers have sex before their 19th birthday” (Jester), which shows the massive participation in such activities. However, many methods of prevention, including birth control, have been in the working toward the progress in decreasing unplanned pregnancies in teenagers. Having an open environment with multiple options makes the decision about counteracting an unplanned pregnancy significantly easier. Also, some forms of birth control can be given to teenagers without parental consent (A Wake-Up Call), which ultimately leaves the important decision up to the teenager who has been involved in risky activities, not the parents. Due to the increasing access to birth control, and other methods of preventing pregnancy, statistics show that pregnancies and births among teenagers is in fact decreasing (A Wake-Up
... is the direct effect of teens and young adults not being educated on the things that come with sex and the consequences of their actions. Teens need sex education because the knowledge will give them an insight on the subject and help them think about the proper precautions to take in order to be a responsible person insuring that they use the right contraception and/or abstinence in order for them not to have children as a teen. Other factors play into why teens become pregnant as well. In the results for my interviews, parent/child relationships should be established and upheld as a relationship that is strictly parent and child. Teens who do not have a true parent/parents in their lives to care about the important thing that contribute to the child’s well being such a becoming pregnant at a young age, tend to make decisions that are not healthy in their lives.
Teens don’t think thoroughly about their decisions when taking actions, which could end up as results of regret. Teenagers are not wise enough to understand how things work therefore they have their parents to help them out make appropriate choices. The choices that are made in early life can affect the teenager in their future. The parents should advice their teens about the dangerous and precautions in life and how to deal with problems the right way. Teenagers who get no advise from parents or any other adult sometimes tend to walk down the wrong path making wrong decisions. When it comes to have sexual intercourse teens should protect them selves to avoid getting themselves in sticky situations. Teen girls have the choice of protecting themselves in many ways but it should be discussed with a relative they could get advise from. Teens should not have access to emergency contraception without parental consent because teens are not mature enough to know the consequences of consuming emergency contraception, which they might regret later in life.

In America, one million teenagers get pregnant every year (National Abortion Federation, 2003). Of these pregnancies, 78% are unplanned because these teenagers start having sex at a very young age and are unaware of ways to prevent pregnancies. Thirty-five percent of the pregnant teenagers chose to abort, as they fear that the consequences of the pregnancy might have significant effects on their lives. The problems that come with teenage pregnancies include dropping out of school, receiving inadequate prenatal care, developing health problems, relying on public assistance to raise a child, and probably divorcing their partners. In most states, the law allows pregnant teenagers to take their babies for adoption without consulting their parents.

Teen pregnancy, it’s one of the growing problems in today’s society. Teens today have more problems than ever, and in many cases the parents mistake signs of the problems for mere puberty phase. Beginning problem, which often trigger the others, seem to be families. Deeply religious families are most often heavily strict, and that prevents the teenagers to be informed about real life and what are they getting into. When that kind of person gets in a situation where his or her peers are more experienced then them, the outcome is a pressure. During the puberty the teenagers, especially males, are having problems with controlling their needs. It is easy to get pregnant for today’s teenagers, because they face many unbearable problems.
Babies are born more likely to be born premature and/or suffer low birth weight. There are a lot of problems involved with children having children. There is a higher risk of low birth rate, premature labor, and stillbirth. The problem is teenage girls are not done growing and fully maturing, there for, when they become pregnant it induces problems not only on the baby but the mother as well. *A general rule: The younger the mother, the greater risk of complications for both the mother and child. Often pregnant teenage mothers deny the fact that they are indeed pregnant, therefor ignoring the proper care that she needs for the growing baby inside of her. There are no easy answers; that’s one thing that everyone agrees on when it comes to the problem of teen pregnancy. The Center of Disease Control and prevention affirmed on June 26 what other agencies, such as the National Center for Health Statistics, have been saying over the course of this year: “The teen pregnancy rate is dropping. The number of teenage girls across the country who became pregnant fell 12 percent between 1991 and 1996. This drops affects girls, of different races and socioeconomic backgrounds, in all states. But the problem remains; The U.S. teen pregnancy rate is the highest of any industrialized countries. Babies born in the U.S. to teenager mothers are at risk for long-term problems in many major areas of life, including school failure, poverty, and physical or mental illness. The teenage mothers themselves are also at risk for these problems.
Other causes of teen pregnancy can be due to the “teen rebellious stage”, and girls that feel like they aren’t getting enough attention and think getting pregnant is the only way to feel important (Kirby 89-94). Most teen girls are asked to drop out in the later stages of pregnancy because they do not to “encourage” other girls. High schools are starting to try to educate girls in their care they not only want to teach them about sex, they want to teach them what to do if they ...
The relationship and behavior between children and their parents is crucial to the ways these children shape their own sexual ideas and values A child who perceives his relationship to his parents as supportive and close, is more likely to sexually behave in a way approved by his or her parents than a child brought up in an unhealthy environment.
