Have you ever thought about having the ability to use your own (personal) electronic devices in school? Arguments consisting of teachers and students happen all the time on personal electronic devices. People are contemplating whether or not personal ale tropic devices should be allowed to be used during school hours. There are many pros and cons to this situation. People aren't really sure if they should allow the devices because once it's said that there allowed there's no going back and there is always what if the isn't such a good idea part. I think access to personal electronic devices in school should not be allowed.
Having access to electronics for too much time can be harmful. Electronics can be very bad for the eyes. "According to Dr.Blakeney, an optometric adviser to the College of Optometrists, computers will not permanently damage the eyes; however, they can cause strain or exacerbate existing eye conditions." Dr.Blakeney is telling us that computer screens (and any other types of electronic screens) will not permanently damage your eyes but they will hurt them. Electronic devices can get you addicted in an unhealthy way. You spend so much time on ten you don't even realize the time passing until you look up and notice the clock and time. Depending what your on you can get brain washed. Videos, video games (or just games), and sometimes even music/lyrics can brainwash you. Just like that a bunch of the information you had inside your brain, gone! So in conclusion, it's not so good to stay to long on an electronic device.

I think that access to personal electronic devices in school should not be allowed. Electronics can be harmful. They're bad for your eyes, they can get you addicted, and can cause a brainwash. Dangerous things can be accessed on personal electronic devices that are not being monitored. Students can find links to inappropriate things, cyber bullying can be a problem, and child predators. Students can get access to things that are not allowed on their own devices. They can play games, listen to music, go on social media places, and cheat. Try and persuade your friends to go against personal electronic devices during in school. If your school decides they want to allow access write a letter to your principal about why you shouldn't be allowed access and then get your friends and other people to sign it.
First of all, using electronics causes people to get distracted. According to Nicholas Carr, in the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” from The New York Times Upfront, “When we use our computers and our cell phones all the time, we’re always distracted.”This sentence stated by Nicholas Carr contributes to my claim of participating in “Shut Down Your Screen Week.” For instance, when students are at home using their electronics they get distracted from doing their homework. This is a way technology is affecting many students. This article by Nicholas Carr supports my argument of participating in “Shut Down Your Screen Week” because many students do get distracted while using electronics causing them not to do their work.
In this article, Kieffer describes the concept of the whole "Bring Your Own Technoogy" initiative that schools are leaning towards in our society today. Basically, as schools are adding more technology, they are considering allowing students to bring their own devices to save money. Later on in the article, Kieffer pulls examples from schools in the northeast Mississippi area that have already banned students from using cell phones on campus. This article suits my topic well because it provides a good proposal for why schools should allow personal devices on campus.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
There is so much to be discovered in our vast world of technology. Scientists and researchers work hard everyday to educate themselves and others on the advances capable of being achieved. There are people learning about new technology, different scientific and medical methods, and most of all medicine everyday. However, there is always a price to pay with hypotheses running their course through experiments, and that is the testing subject. Scientists feel the best choice for such research is to use animals to be tested, and that great achievements in the science world are worth it. Just as these scientists are, testing on innocent animals is completely wrong. Just because they are available for testing, and don’t have any ability to opt out in these experiments, does not mean they are right for the job.
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” (G.K. Chesterton). A soldier is a soldier no matter what. If they fight behind a screen, on the front line, or from a controller as long as they’re protecting this country, the people in it, and the people fighting for it they are honorable. Some think that because one does their fighting from a remote control drone means that they have no understanding of war, and in some ways that is true, but they are still taking someone’s life when they choose to press that button just like the solders on the front line takes someone’s life when they pull the trigger. Both people are fighting the same fight: they love the country they are defending the people in it they just do it from different standpoints. Drones
Imagine dedicating your life to a university not only on the academic level, but also the athletic level. With a full scholarship your time is dedicated to getting to class on time, finishing assignments, and making it to mandatory practices while also maintaining a strict workout schedule. With your day pretty much full of responsibilities, you do not have the time for a job to pay for anything that you may need outside of tuition, books, and housing. If your car breaks down or you run out of gas you have to pay for that out of your own pocket which is fairly difficult when you do not have an income to cover the costs and if you accept money or free services from any businesses, you could lose you eligibility as a NCAA athlete and lose your
Staff obviously chose no, because they had never experienced cell phones in school before, when they themselves were students. Back then, cell phones didn't even exist! Adults tend to think that tradition must be maintained. Out of the results, most people actually said that cell phones shouldn't be banned for many reasons. In conclusion, this essay tries to argue that cell phones are valuable tools in schools.
Electronics can affect humans physically and mentally, Dr. Stewart notes that there are physical, mental and chemical changes in adolescents of whom had an extended period of time on devices such as laptops or smartphones, primarily “depression and anxiety”. Society generally believes that electronics hold negative effects within their benefits, but it is commonly unknown that electronics are psychologically overwhelming, because they are constantly active and ever connected around the world. The overwhelming effects were even seen among myself. I would become consumed with the vast knowledge and power that I held in my hand, the sheer number of things I could do with the touch of two or three strokes on a keypad. This power drove me to want more hands-on information about technology and its components.
While generations of today have witnessed countless technological advances, there are also downfalls to these progressions. Technology interferes with education, attention spans, relationships, social interactions, self esteem, and even creativity. In order for technology to have more pros than cons, it is pertinent to keep a clear perspective. Monitoring how much you or your children spend time using electronics is the key to making sure that technology is not harmful.
Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. Cellphones attract the attention of building managers, teachers, parents, and students. Although teachers see them as a distraction and a way to cheat, they can be quite helpful to students. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves with a sense of security. By permitting the use of cellphones in school, students can increase their knowledge and complete school work by using applications and other features on their smartphones.
The part of society that is against the use of cell phones in school do it because of the interference that a cell phone can cause. Nevertheless we must accept that we live in a world full of technology. We miss out if we do not take the upper hand of the educational power of the cell phone. Overall, cell phones supply us with learning resources and encourage suitable use of technology. Therefore the schools should not ban cell the use of cell phones on school grounds.
Computers have caused people to the way they think there so addicted to it. Computers can cause arthritis in your hands. It also hurts because online dating has gone crazy. Now it is up to our parents to keep an eye on children so they won't be on the computer all the time.
The first reason to support that mobile phones should be banned in schools is that devices can be used to cheating for instance, text friends about answers during a test, take picture of test questions with mobile phones to send to friends, search the internet to answers during a test, and store information on mobile phones to look at during a test. It is suggested by Benenson Strategy Group (2008) indicated that 65 per c...
A computer is a wonderful tool that can help us with many things. The question is why are computers more than a curse than a blessing? Many children this generation have advanced in computers and technology more than their elders, and the ones above them. The internet is wonderful when researching for homework, but it is not good when it is becoming a bad habit and going on it. Computers have many effects on people and the youth. It can lead to less physical activity for many children and teenagers. Many times computers are being abused for all the wrong reasons. One thing that it affects the most is your vision and can lead to glaucoma a type of eye disease. Many of us are not aware of all the health issues that are caused by computers.
Many schools are now making new rules or guidelines to improve the educational impact that school has on students. One of these new rules or guidelines is a ban on cell phones during school hours. This new guideline upsets many students that use cell phones because they feel that it takes away their freedom. It is a privilege, not a right, that those students even have cell phones, and they are abusing their privilege tremendously. This new guideline is a superior guideline to follow, and in the long run, students will realize how this ban affected their learning experience. Cell phones should be ultimately banned for a number of reasons. Cell phones are a distraction to other students, it is a major distraction to the student with the cell phone, and there are phones in the school that students can use whenever they need.
