Myers-Briggs Type Indicator The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test is the best-known and most trusted personality classification tool, which is used to determine the character of a person, and indicate psychological preferences. During World War II, Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers constructed the MBTI, which was based on the psychological theory of Carl G. Jung. The purpose is to help people's lives in managing and training, dealing with stress, resolving conflicts, and career guidance. There are sixteen distinctive personality types which were created from its elements such as I (introversion), E (extroversion), N (intuitive), S (sensing), F (feeling), T (thinking), J (judging), and P (perceiving). ESTPs do not like theoretical debates or think about the unrealistic future. They are only interested in the present moment, and they concentrate all their efforts on what they like to do rather than think about what they can do. ESTPs do not often plan for detailed action; they often rush into the workplace, find faults, and take immediate action. If necessary, they do not mind turning around and fixing their mistakes. ESTP people also tend to view rules and obligations as guidelines rather than unbending rules. ESTP personality can also make them inadvertently hurt others because ESTP is based on facts and logic (element T) rather than emotions (element F), so their words can easily hurt sensitive people. People with this type of personality have no interest in pointless theoretical discussions; in contrast, their passion is all about the areas they perceive to be real and exciting. This personality perfectly fits me, due to the fact that I love studying practical class than learning theoretical lectures. The Myers Briggs is a very useful tool to analyze individual’s personalities; for instance, ESTP types are outgoing, involved in their community, friendly with the general public, and they get energy from being around people. ESTP personality stands for Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Perception. In this case, John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt both had the same personality ESTP type, which means they share many of the same characteristics. For example, both of them are enthusiastic, excitable, and fun to be around.
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
The following information can be found in the “Results and discussion” section: “The analyses reported above show that MBTI items fail to form the factors hypothesized by the test’s authors” (Saggino, Cooper, & Kline, 2001). The information I found in this study complimented the conclusion of the other article I reviewed. They both concluded that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator had many faults and was not reliable nor valid as far as solid science is concerned.

Based on this knowledge Isabel Briggs Myers developed the Myers-Briggs Type indicator (MBTI). This test helps individuals identify and study their individual preference and those of others. However, in reflection of my past teamwork experiences in class, I am often one of the organizers and stronger voices, connecting me with being a natural leader. In reflection of past job experience, I found it related to a low tolerance for incompetency and also being a natural leader, but did not demonstrate being a visionary or argumentative. My past job experience includes refereeing youth soccer matches and serving at Anthony’s Beach Café. My experience refereeing youth soccer matches forced me to become a leader, taking control of parents and the players, allowing me to mature well being in a position of authority. Well working as a server at Anthony’s I have developed very high expectations for myself, displaying my low tolerance for mistakes and increasing my productivity. If you’re an introvert or extravert, if you use intuition or sensing, if you use thinking or feeling, and if you use judging or perceiving.The test asks questions that determines those traits. When I took my personality test I turned out to be a campaigner. A campaigner is very talkative, and do things that they want to do not what others want them to do. We are very nice and friendly. We are also very easy to talk to. If you are having trouble knowing what a campaigner is like, this whole essay is going to be just about them. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has recognized my profile as Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking and Judgment (INTJ). As an introvert, I can get nervous among other people. It does not pose a problem for an individual. On the other hand, in order to be an effective leader, it is important for me to keep a profound communicational relationship with my subordinates. Without proper communication skills, it is not possible to establish a functional relationship with my subordinates. This may jeopardize the success of any activity that we are involved in. The introvert part is perhaps the major barrier which may keep me away from being an effective leader.

After reviewing the detailed videos about my personality type, ESTP, I found most of them to be accurate. When the CEO, Rob Toomey, mentioned perceivers are very relaxed when in stressful situations. Typically, I tend to not stress out about small things in life. Although, when I do get stressed, people wouldn’t be able to tell unless I have bags under my eyes from finishing a project. This also ties in with procrastination since I sometimes put off assignments to feel the sense of urgency. However, depending on the level of hardness of the assignment I will distribute the workload in small chunks, similar to a judger. My four-letter assessment was ENFP; the percentages to my assessment were Extravert 3%, Intuitive 6%, Feeling 28%, and Perceiving 19%. I would describe my four letters as being someone who thinks before they act and very observant. I think one of the main things I learned about ENFP, is if something interest me, I am likely to care more about it and work hard. However, if it is a topic or activity I don’t like, there is a chance I won’t be involved with it. As an ENFP, I like to do my own thing and make my own decisions no matter what.
