In search for the elements involved in becoming a certified personal/fitness trainer I utilized three give cyber resources: O*net, Occupational Outlook Handbook, and Career One-Step. Of the three resources I appreciated the occupational outlook handbook more than the other two. Within the Triad hierarchy O*net would grab my attention next and finally career one-stop. One very big distinction between occupational outlook handbook and the other two resources were the statistics involved with the given information. Career one-stop was too simplistic when provided information about becoming a fitness trainer. Here is an example from the website,

If I was to rely on this site alone, I wouldn’t know a potential salary, education requirements outside of certifications that could enhance my probability of becoming a certified personal trainer. Unlike the other two sites, by simply examining career one-step I have no idea what job responsibilities are expected of personal trainers. However, O*net provided adequate amounts of information that I could use on my quest to becoming a personal fitness trainer. O*net provides a list of basic task of any trainer, tools and technology exposed to with this occupation, knowledge to acquire to adequately succeed at personal training, skills, abilities, work activities and other components that elaborate more than career one-step about what the job entitles and commodities to equip oneself when pursuing a career in personal training. Fitness trainers and instructors lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises (exercises for the heart and blood circulation), strength training, and stretching. Athletic training career is one of the careers in healthcare that requires hard work, dedication, and patience. It is competitive and because of that, it requires extensive schooling. Most jobs in athletic training field requires a bachelor degree from an accredited program but having a masters degree or a doctorate degree from an accredited program increases one’s chance of getting a better job or qualifying for an affluent position in one’s company. Meeting new people is one of the many ways being an athletic trainer is very rewarding. One of the many examples is assisting and caring others. I am interested in pursuing a career in athletic training. My school has a partnership with my local football team. I have always wanted to go into athletic training. Just imagine, if I got big enough in that, I can possibly be helping out a famous football player. Maximum requirement for an Athletic Trainer is to have a bachelor’s degree and be CPR and first aid certified (“O*NET Online. National Center for O*NET Development”). Getting a bachelor’s degree would take you 4 years to complete. Depending on what degree you want to achieve, the time will be longer or shorter. The cost of the education and training would all depend on where you went to college. You would go to an accredited college or university to get you education. In order to be an Athletic Trainer you have to have some special skills including active listening, which is giving full attention to what people say, asking questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. You also need to be sympathetic towards the players. “You need to have a strong work ethic and love what you do” (Hargis). Another special skill you need to have is being able to monitor performance of yourself and others.You have to be able to talk to others to convey info effectively.
