The Jung Personality Type Test is familiar to me as I have taken it before and know of its general premise. The test is popular in the business world but is heavily criticized by academics due to its low validity and reliability. I have taken the test several times and never received the same personality type twice. This does not mean that there have not been similarities in my results; on every test certain aspects of the results stay true and the percentages of specific personality traits stay within close range. The result of my Jung Test-- for this assignment-- classified my personality in the ENFJ typology with dominance in both the Extrovert and Introvert (E-I) traits equally, Intuition, Feelings and Judging. A few I found accurate include: outgoing, perfectionist, assertive, loving, organized, involved, open, leader, ambitious and complimentary. The ones I found questionable are attention seeking, easily hurt, emotional and image conscious. The two items I found to be unagreeable are hyperactive and group oriented (The latter item being one of my greatest personal struggles because I prefer to work alone.) The favored career choices were precise and I have actually worked in some of the professions mentioned before becoming a teacher. One or two I even continue to enjoy in my spare time (before Galen that is). My preferred choices include: casting director, film director, teacher (art, preschool, elementary), fashion designer, actor, work in the performing arts and school psychologist. Admittedly, from the list of disfavored careers a few seem intriguing, such as being a scientist (perhaps in another lifetime -- an Astrophysicist) or even a web designer; but, the others are, definitely and accurately, a resounding no. Anything with business and finances or engineering gives me severe heart palpitations. My Keirsey Temperament Sorter results indicate my personality type is that of a Guardian and make-up about 40 – 50 percent of the population. Guardians use their skills to keep everything running smoothly, have a lot of fun with family and friends, but serious when it comes to responsibilities. Characteristics include dependable, humble, trustworthy, loyal, helpful, hardworking, and stabilizing leaders. I’m the type of person that follows schedules and deadlines, but also likes to have fun and enjoy life. There should be a balance, and like the saying goes, work hard and play hard.
All the personality tests I’ve taken in class, such as sigi3 and DWYA suggest I could pursue a career in my chosen field. Based on my personality type I like caring for people and “helping others reach their full potential” (Do What You Are 2014). Personality, is defined as the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character. But when it comes down to it many different theorists define personality in many different ways. Within the Jung Typology Test (JTT) it states that my type of personality is introverted, sensing, feeling and judging. The results indicated I am an introvert over extrovert, the score showed 56%. There was a marginal or no preference to sensing over intuition at 1% for this result. Moderate preference to feeling over thinking at 25%, and a strong preference to judging over perceiving at 78%. So this is saying that I am an introverted sensing with extroverted feeling.
Personality types stems from Carl Jung spend time observing personality preferences, which he later on published in his in 1921. Carl’s discovery of the two major typical differences in human psychology such as extrovert and introvert influenced Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Myers theories and lead them to experiment during World War II. The Myers and Briggs personality test is unlike many of the personality tests you will find randomly online because it was designed to examine the ways in which you focus on the world and make everyday decisions. After taking this test myself I have found out a few things about myself that I did not really notice before. According to the Myers-Briggs test my personality type is INFP, which stands for Introversion, iNtuition, Feeling, and Perceiving. The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.

Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had.
