For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed sharing stories with others. As a child, I would tell stories in any way I could. I would draw pictures, write short stories, and tell stories to anyone who would be willing to listen. As I grew older, my interest in writing and storytelling grew as well. While in high school, I was unsure of my career interests, but I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that involves storytelling. I am now pursuing bachelorʻs degree in Journalism at the University of Southern California. My first semester here at USC showed me the different possibilities that the journalism industry has to offer. As a journalism major at USC, I am required to work a four hour shift in our school’s media center every
Experiences such as these compelled me to start writing. Writing became my outlet for empathizing with others and valuing different ways of life. Also, I enjoyed stringing together various plot elements to form an articulate story much- as I would soon learn- how doctors consider several factors when deducing a diagnosis. Ultimately, my chief goal in writing was to understand and define
Every time I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always had different answers. An author, a photographer, even a video game tester. I've juggled lots of different careers, and yet I still don't seem to know which one I really want to do. When I was younger I always loved to write. Fiction was my favorite genre, especially when it comes to dystopian worlds. I always joked with my friends and family that after I become an author and "make millions off my first book", I'd be able to buy them whatever they desired. After I got a bit older though, writing just wasn't my top priority anymore, I lost interest in it sadly. Don't get me wrong I still like it, I'm just never in the mood to write anymore. So, being an author was crossed
RH: What inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and especially as a screenwriter? What kind of training have you had to prepare for these jobs?
Within my first two weeks on campus, I meant other journalism students who invited me to join The East Texan, the student newspaper for TAMUC. After a year as a staff reporter, I got promoted to be the feature editor. I had so many responsibilities such as conducting interviews, writing stories, creating story ideas, editing stories, taking photos, and creating the page layout for the feature page of The East Texan. As time progressed, I
that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field but I was not sure
My dedication to practice dentistry has catapulted me between countries and ultimately across the world. Throughout my journey, my passion has increased with every step. After I finished high school, my parents wanted me to pursue their dream of becoming a physician and specializes in either Radiology or Gynecology to take their position in their private practice. What my parents didn't realize was that I chose my future career earlier when I met Dr. Marvin, my endodontist. My decision to become a dentist was motivated by personal experience where I had suffered from a major oral health problem where I had an accident that caused my permanent front teeth to fracture. I was in pain for days and I was shy to show my broken front teeth.
From an early age on, I knew I wanted to somehow get involved in the sports media industry. However, there is more to it than just sitting around the table with your friends discussing sports; only a handful of sports journalists make it to a high level. It takes a strong work ethic to move into the higher ranks of this field. If you are interested in sports journalism jobs, pursue a Bachelor's degree with a major, minor or specialization in sports journalism and apply for an internship in the sports department of one or more media outlets," (Sports Journalism Careers).
Because humans are the only beings that tell stories, storytelling has become an integral element in human genetic makeup. Stories have been told for as long as mankind learned how to speak and communicate. The practice of storytelling has been passed down through cultural milieus, ballads, parodies, poems, autobiographies, journals, parables, and tales. In fact, many of these narratives have influenced how we learned and shaped our values, morals, and beliefs. Clark & Rossiter (2008) offer that narrative learning through stories, “involves stories heard, stories told, and stories recognized” (p. 65). In light of that, this paper will begin with a brief conception of narrative learning, followed by a personal narrative story that influenced my life as an adult, what was learned from this and why, and finally the importance of narrative learning as it relates to adult learners.
I was crying out, “Mom and dad.” From that point I started to write stories about how I was scared. Several years later, I still enjoy writing stories, essays, and anything. Some people might think that writing stories is boring, but for me it is not. When I was growing up, I would write every week about any topic, and I would show it to my parents.

Besides their journalism classes, sports writers typically write for their college newspaper. Sport information departments at colleges are common place and students typically rely on internships providing valuable experience. 1) Degree seeking students should tailor their academic career by majoring in journalism with a degree level of at least a Bachelor’s. 2) Background experience associated with writing experience and a plethora of sports knowledge is essential for any prospective sports journalist. 3)
One of the obstacles I have faced in my journalism is limited resources. All of the money I have goes to funding my living expenses while away at school and my mom has done all she can to help to pay for school. When I decided to go to Spelman, my mother and I made a promise to each other that I will utilize every opportunity because attending Spelman was a once in a lifetime opportunity in itself. The Atlanta University Center, mainly Morehouse, has introduced me to the world of college journalism. Especially college journalism that involves in depth profiles and male dominated spaces. Conducting profile interviews for a publication that centered on news for an all male college inspired me to launch a project that involved real profiles with
At recess I would go out with my small group of friends at recess and write stories and read books and then act out skits based off of those stories and books. We had no limits and we rarely got bored. My childhood best friend, Micah, was always put as the main character since he was the best actor. Other friends all payed certain kinds of characters that they liked and usually i would just play a minor character so i could sit back and watch the scenes play out and steer the plots in the correct direction. Sometimes we would have a story carry on for weeks or months and others lasted under 10 minutes. We based it all on how much fun we had and once we were no longer having fun we’d move on to our next plot.Micah wanted to be an actor and he would come up with a character he wanted and from that point on i would make a universe and story from that character and develop it more once more people wanted to get involved. For a long time i just wanted to be a novelist and write stories but i was never too good with
...here are intense amounts of writing opportunities; conditions for work are laid back, and informative training is needed. Journalists are all over the world writing and sharing their information with us. Whether it is a sports caster or a reporter they are all informing us with stuff we should know. Having a job that is enjoyable and fun is what it is all about. Journalism is a fun and crazy profession filled with many ups and downs, but at the end of the day when a piece of their writing is published it is all worth it!
I suppose you want me to tell you about my writing, it is hard to do that without explaining my love of reading first. I have always been fascinated by books; the characters they created and the places they imagined. I loved books before I was old enough to understand the written word. At night I would climb from my bed and pull them off the shelf one by one my eyes devouring their pages, my mother would find me asleep under a pile of them in the morning. When I started school and could decipher the words on the pages I was even more entranced. The book’s words and my imagination would pair to sweep me away into stories where I could almost imagine that I was there with them. I would cry for my favorite character’s losses and celebrate in their triumphs. Books were as Stephen King once said “a portable kind of magic.”
