At the ripe old age of 18, my firm conviction is that experience builds character. Growing up, I have been through interesting times, some good and others bad. This, I feel, has made me who I am and what I stand for. I characterize myself as someone who is hungry to effect change, not just to the world, but in the way people look at the world. My experiences have guided me to the conclusion that my prime interest lies in Engineering. One of my earliest memories is of my grandfather calling out “Let’s fix this”. Very often, the two of us would be oblivious to what was happening around us, with greasy hands, screwdrivers and a stubborn gadget that my mother had declared dead. The satisfaction of bringing it back to life could never be equalled by any other experience. This is what led me to believe that fixing things and examining what made them work was something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. …show more content…
It grew, not by leaps and bounds but in little ways. I recall sitting in my father’s factory looking at the people working at something that I did not understand but was fascinated by. Over the next few years, I would closely observe the work done in my father’s factory, eventually learning processes like electroplating, heat transfer, vacuum metalizing and pressure die-casting. I soon got the opportunity to intern with factories in and around my city. I interned with Eminence Electro Appliances PVT. LTD, US Metal Products, and Octus International during my vacations. During these programs, I was introduced to Printed Circuit Board(PCB) designing, Surface-mount machines, Infrared and Radio Frequency technology in remote controls, LED and AC motor manufacturing processes, and ceiling-fan assembly. I also learnt about upcoming energy efficient devices like Smart LED street
One summer, my dad and I spontaneously decided to build a treehouse and spent the entire day making a ladder and climbing the tree. I’ve always enjoyed building and creating things, not using directions, and using my brain to create the final project with no outside help. Activities I’ve done with my father have made me want to become an engineer. Specifically, I plan to use my math and science skills toward benefitting others, parallel to how my dad has strengthened
During my interview, I spoke with Keven Carpenter, founder of Porticos. Porticos is a mechanical engineering firm which specializes in product development. From attending this interview, I learned that mechanical engineering can be both rewarding and devastating. For example, most of the time, mechanical engineers in product development do not get patents and projects are often discarded. However, there are instances where a project became implemented in everyday technology and becomes patented. According to Kevin, this is an overwhelming rewarding experience, that many engineers and unable to participate
...o cultures the way I was. The logical and practical approach that this experience has given me has also heavily influenced my love for engineering which I developed while working in Professor Maruthi Akella’s Aeronautics Engineering lab in UT Austin. The precision of the mathematical aspect along with the creativity of the design aspect make engineering the perfect mechanism for exploring my capabilities and exceeding my potential.
My interest in Psychology began in 2012, when I had the opportunity to research on my own about the subject. After I embarked on an introductory course in Psychology to relieve the boredom of working in a call centre, I then was motivated to continue with my studies. After securing my Higher and HNC in Social Science – I continued with the HND.
The mind must never be kept idle because of its tremendous capacity to absorb and learn. After careful consideration of my aptitude, interests and experiences gained while pursuing my under graduation in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, I have decided to pursue my Masters in the field of Computer Science. Being a dynamic and ever evolving field, many new developments are expected and there is immense scope for research on new products and applications. To progress and make a mark in this field, I realize that it is important for me to pursue my Masters from a reputable university. I have always dreamt of taking up research.
An 11 years old kid lying on the ground in a dark room crying, shaking, and trembling with intense pain in both of his ears. The pain was similar to as if someone was hitting with some sharp object inside his ears and every time he would feel the shock of pain, he would pull both of his ears while enduring the pain. The pain would raise every couple of second and with each shock of pain, the kid would lose part of the hope that he had of surviving. He would experience so intense pain that he had never anticipated and all he could think of that “he is about to die.” This was the experience that I felt when I had a severe ear infection in both of my ears.
As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. At UWEC, I would like to get involved in anything musical, along with various clubs and Greek life. Similarly, another goal of mine is to have a job on campus. Having a job will not only help me make some
Real knowledge, like everything else of the highest value, is not to be obtained easily. It must be worked for, studied for, thought for, and, more than all, it must be prayed for”
Like that one story grandpa would always tell you about that one time he asked his wife to the dance when they were kids. You get to use your experience to help someone out that is going through the same type of situation. But if you wouldn't have taken on that obstacle, how would you be able to give that person advice? Receiving more experience from challenges can be healthy while your brain is still trying to grow. Technology is one of the biggest challenges we have taken on since the beginning of
Electrical engineering is the major that I am pursuing during my college career. I decided to pursue this major because it is a career, which requires knowledge in other subjects, it is a career, which changes often, and everyday it provides a person with new problems to solve.
I am applying for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Solid Mechanics to expand on my study of and experience with materials. I have thoroughly enjoyed studying Materials Science and Engineering as an undergraduate at UCLA. I now look forward to moving into graduate study in a field of engineering with a related, but different perspective. Materials Science and Engineering has allowed me to explore both materials and other fields within engineering, contributing to my strong interest in combining my study of Materials Science and Engineering with Mechanical Engineering. I have completed basic coursework in most areas of engineering, learning statics, thermodynamics, basic programming, and circuit design. This has provided a strong foundation to continue graduate study in other engineering disciplines. I
Medicine is a very complex and interesting felid, it 's constantly changing with the new advancements being made all the time. My interest in medicine came at a young age from going to various doctor’s appointments for myself and family members. I found it fascinating how doctors took care of people. I also enjoyed the interaction between the doctor and patient, whether it was a positive or negative interaction.I was very inspired by doctors and wanted to be like them. But I didn’t fully consider a career in medicine until I began high school.
An ambition to learn and grow and having passion for engineering have prompted me to go in for graduate studies. Chasing my Dreams! While growing up at a young age I was always intrigued by objects that produced mechanical work and energy be it prime movers such as automobiles, construction and mining equipment, turbo machinery such as jet engines, space shuttles or complex mechanisms of mechanical watches, I used to spend a lot of time trying to learn and figure out their basis and propositions, it was necessary for me to explore my inner conscience to understand my fascination towards machines and their ingenuity, Mechanical engineering seemed a direct consequence of my convictions. I have always admired my father as a civil engineer and his hard work and struggles throughout his life; He has always been a role model for me. He motivated me to pursue my dreams so I decided to pursue my undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering
Everyone wants to be something from a doctor to a stylist, I want to be a mechanical engineer. This is something I have always wanted to do in my life, the opportunities that exist in this field can lead to anything. Mechanical engineers are able to do many tasks in the job environment from designing, to developing, and also building. In addition, as new companies are starting up they will need mechanical engineers to help them develop their product. All of the engineering fields have great pay, that is able to support my family and also my parents. In the work environment of a mechanical engineer, they usually are around an office and sometimes where their product is being used at. To be able to apply for a mechanical engineering job you
Everyone, at some point in their life, has made a mistake. Sometimes we get lucky and only falter a little, making it through the problem relatively intact. Other times, we mess up a lot and have to fix what was damaged over a long period of time. However, the same is true for most, if not all cases—those who make the mistake learn from it. Often times, our failures teach us valuable lessons that we only gained because of the experience we gathered after messing up. I have personally achieved a wealth of knowledge and experience just from all of my own little mishaps, and a few major ones.
