Personal Statement: Ms. Hammond

My favorite teacher was called Ms. Hammond, and she was my science teacher in High School. She had a pleasing personality, and she was an ideal teacher. She had a good behavior and teaching style. She interacted with the students physically, and mentally. She was very enthusiastic and creative. Patience, tact and a sense of humor because it will help her through the harder times. According to the perception of students, a good teacher must have strong and effective communication skill, ability to motivate students and must have sound knowledge of subjects (Malik et al. 675). Ms. Hammond not only motivating students to learn, but she was teaching us how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. She had a

passion for teaching and she conveying that passion to everyone, most importantly to your students.

A good teacher will regularly update material and method. At the beginning of school, she told the students every discipline they need to follow in her classroom. I consider her as a good teacher, and I believe she had all the qualities of a good teacher supposed to have because she loves teaching, she was supportive and engaged to her students. She was able to relate well to children and enjoy working with others.

Firstly, she had a lot to do with their students' motivational level. She did not lecture the class for the whole period she must mix things up with class activities. She was making sure that every student in her class understood the lesson before they leave the class. She was always in her classroom, ready to talk to me every time I need help. She guided me through by showing me the different

way that could use to do best in an exam. When she teaches, no one can't speak about anything but only the topic that she discusses. She did not only read the material from the book, but she gave us an accurate picture of everything. At the end of school, she gave some of the student certificates of recognition, I was one of that student then she said, "I had fun teaching all of you, and I congratulate you all for your hard work." That changed my life completely because it motivate me to remain active in my classes because hard work always pays at the end. She teaches in ways for all students to be able to learn because she knew that all students did not learn in the same way. She makes her class fascinating because she connected fun activities with our learning process. Sometimes when there was activity like ACT, SAT, FCAT, etc... She lets the remaining students that were in her class watch movies, and then summarize the movies and return them to her for their student's grades. She used to have group activities, but there was always be a leader in each cluster. When she gave group project, she let the students pick the topic they wanted to do the project and choose people they wanted in their groups because it would be easier for them to meet outside of school.
Secondly, she encourages us to ask questions so that we may be able to understand the subject well. She never loses her patience with those students who take long to grasp the subject.
Ms. Hammond gives all the student her attention whenever they need her help with anything. She was an excellent combination of kindness and strictness. She encourages the students to ask each other and her anything concerning the subject so that a healthy discussion generates new ideas and increases our curiosity about the subject. Sometimes when I do not understand the homework, I stayed in the after School tutoring to explain it to me what I suppose to do. If the students not pay attention and talk too much in her class, they would receive zero for conduct in their report card. She wanted all students to participate in class discussion. Sometimes a partial of students went on eLearning online to do some activity, and another partial of students go to read books.
Additionally, she expected the students to read materials before coming to class because she would ask the question such as "what is the meaning of this word?" Sometimes when we read the story online if any student wants extra credit; the student just has to read a part of the story.

For each lesson, we have to do an experiment, but examine the experiment and write notes in our lab notebook because she would ask each student in the group to explain the procedure steps and the result. She always wanted the students to disinfect the table before and after class because it is a science class the bacteria is everywhere, so we have to make the environment safe and secure. According to Murray, a good teacher helps the child realize her strengths and encourages and challenges the student to learn through those strengths. Her tests were hard and tricky, but if the students truly understood the lessons and paid attention to her lecture they can pass the tests. Several times she complimented me like "Good job, you did well in the tests" and it make me feel good and proud of

myself.
In conclusion, she was a great teacher because she advised, engaged, and motivated student to do well in her class. She used several learning strategies in class because each student does not use the same learning strategy. Shows a high degree of maturity and respect, and then the students can emulate this, thus fostering understanding of each other's limits. A good teacher should have all the qualities mentioned above. These are not only qualities of an excellent teacher, but the basic indicators that a person is an expert.
