Over the past year I’ve done many extra-curricular activities that not only help myself, but our community as a whole. I’m applying for the participation award because in my opinion I am eligible to receive it. My first reason is I’ve been doing sports. Softball season started so I’m on the team to try to help SMS to get a banner. I’ve also played on the badminton team as an alternate, and a girl’s doubles player. Coming up, I’ll also be participating I track and field, in as many events as possible. This year I want to move on to compete against other schools, so the more sports I do, the better my chances are of moving on. Closer to the beginning of the year I was on the girls’ basketball team. During the school year I’ve always been thinking about my future; whether that is the next day, month or term I always consider life’s consequences. If I don’t study for one test, which could affect my grades and that could affect my end of the year report card marks. Last year I got the Award of Excellence, and have always been thinking about my actions and whether that will affect whether I could receive it or not. Even if I didn’t want any award, that would change my actions towards coaches, teammates, classmates, or teachers. Throughout the year I have exemplified Check 3 to everyone. It’s always important to be kind and put yourself in others’ shoes. When I was an alternate for badminton, I was scorekeeping for the grade six tournaments. One of the players on the grade seven team hurt them self and I had to step in. I made sure the injured player was alright before going over to play at the other tournament. Whenever I tried out for something and made the team and saw someone else who hadn’t, I didn’t go up to them and brag, I told them they did good and made them feel better, whether they were my friend or not. I respected the environment by putting back equipment when I took it outside or if I signed out a book, I made sure it stayed the same way as when I got it. Finally during my peer’s presentations or my teachers I always listened respectfully and intently.
