I truly have a passion for children and learning. I enjoyed and was successful in school growing up and made many lasting connections with my teachers. Seeing how those individuals encouraged, developed, and changed my life in such a positive way, I want to be able to do the same for my future students. My mission as a teacher is to inspire my students to be lifelong learners and to teach them that every experience can be a learning one. I have always connected with children and believe I can provide an open, safe environment for students to come in and let their brains learn. I have always had a passion for nursing. As a child, I watched my mother getting up early, putting her scrubs on and headed out the door for a 12 hour shift. She was always content, and at ease to go for a long shift and even overtime at times. I love the fact that after work, she would always come home, satisfied with the day no matter how hard it was for her. She would sit and tell my brothers and sisters how she enjoyed the conversations that she had with her patients and what impact she had on their lives that day. Listening to these stories as a child, I knew that I wanted to become a nurse and listening to the same stories and helping people, making their day feel better. I wanted to follow my mom’s footsteps. At the end of a long shift, it is a rewarding profession, knowing that I am saving people’s lives, making them comfortable when they are near of dying, advocate and teaching them. As nurses, we care for patients through illness, injury, aging, health. We also promote health, prevent diseases and teaching the community; that’s what I love about nursing. I believe that this is the right profession for me because I have all the qualities that a nurse should possess when
My choice to become a part of the childcare profession was not just made casually. This decision was the result of a thought process about what I wanted to do with my life. I finally took a career in childcare because I believe that it is one of the most important duties performed in the community. Within this profession, I hope to find both personal and professional accomplishment. Hence, it is my desire to be a part of a noble profession.
Every day, children, adolescents, and their families experience the stressors of disease, injury or disability. In some circumstances, these children are sent to the hospital and trapped in a world where doctors, nurses and other health care workers come in and out of their small rooms poking, prodding and talking in a medical language that is foreign to them. With the assistance of a nurse to treat and care for the child, a Child Life Specialist (CLS) can help reduce these challenges and promote healthy coping skills and development. As a Capella student, my academic goal is to earn my Master’s in Psychology with a focus in Child and Adolescent Development.
The main reason I would like to become a teacher is the love for little kids. I really enjoy being around children. After teaching Sunday School to children up to 8 years of age for over five years, I feel that I can relate to them and connect with them very well. I also feel that students look up to teachers, so they are a very big influence on the children's’ lives. I would love to know that I could make such a big influence on a child’s life. In my opinion teachers have an impact on the life of every student they ever have in class.

My strong desire to help students with their academic, personal, and social needs make me a strong candidate as a school counselor. I believe education is a building process, everything from kindergarten through my college years has let me gained and expanded my education through not only learning facts and concepts, but also learning about myself. Through all that I have acquired, I believe Elementary Education is my true calling. My desire to pursue Education, specifically Elementary education came from a discovery of myself. As a college student you look for opportunities to gain knowledge and make a little extra cash on the side. When I took the opportunity to take a job for an after school elementary program called Bricks 4 Kidz, I never thought It would change my views on my major the way it did. I went into college with a mind set on Business Management thinking that was my true calling, but when I experienced how it feels to work with kids and how much I really enjoy it I started rethinking my major. When a student of mine grabbed my leg and begged me to not leave because he wanted me to stay and keep teaching was the moment I knew I was doing something right with my life and that Education was the perfect path for me.
Personally, being an educator gives me a chance to have a great impact on the world. I have always enjoyed seeing the look on someone’s face when they make a new connection or learn something. I have many strong beliefs in the education process and many times feel that the needs of the student are overlooked. As a teacher, the students would be priority and that is the backbone of my teaching philosophy. I know that I am not very experienced and have much to learn. This I will strive to do throughout my education and even when I enter the teacher workforce.
As a traditional Native American saying goes, “Certain things catch your eye, but pursue only those that capture the heart.” My heart was captured by pediatrics at an early age. My journey was started growing up in a small town of India with different but significant healthcare needs and limited availability of resources. During the school life, I was always attracted towards human biology. As a young student, I was very curious and used to ask many questions, and my teachers always explained every principle by scientific reasoning and rational thinking. There are many reasons people decide to enter the teaching field. Some enter because they enjoy working with people or children, others because they like being off during the summer months, and still others because of their love for a particular subject. Although all these reasons are valid, I feel my reasons are much simpler. The bottom line is that I love kids and enjoy working with them. My desire to make learning a more positive experience for them has only increased with time.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. My interest in teaching started at a young age. I used to watch my teachers in awe as they were able to find new ways to get their students involved and excited to learn. Their enthusiasm to teach was so inspiring. I would often find myself using that same fervor as I grasped each concept. I, then, was able to relay it to my fellow classmates as a peer tutor. To this day, becoming a teacher is a passion that flows through me. However, my enthusiasm and passion are not the only reasons I would be a good teacher. I aspire to see a student’s ability to grasp the knowledge they never before understood. I aspire to see a student succeed at something they never thought they ever could. I aspire to not only support students with academic skills, but also with life lessons about the value of community, pride in one’s own ethnicity, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and more. I am passionate about children and their success. Our children are our future. I believe children need great role models to help them navigate through the difficulties of growing up. My children had access to successful adults and had many opportunities to succeed; however, not all children these same opportunities. Outside of school, many children lack access to adults who can open their minds to new possibilities.
I am so excited about one day teaching our children. My goal is to be a positive influence on a child and I cannot imagine anything more important to do with my life than helping children. A quote from Herbert Kohl sums up my feelings of becoming an educator: “I believe the impulse to teach is fundamentally altruistic and represents a desire to share what you value and to empower others. I am not talking about the job of teaching so much as the calling to teach. Most teachers I know have felt that calling at some time in their lives.” My dream is to someday soon fulfill my calling.
Children are our future and it is up to us as educators to point them in the right direction. I always enjoyed school and found it fun and exciting. As I got older, I only remember the teacher's that made a difference in my life. I want to the teacher that makes a difference in a child's life. Whether it be as simple as a teacher, or advanced as a father-figure, I will be their for the children.
