From this class I know what is social worker. Before I take this class, I did not know there had a social worker job around us, and I did not think anyone could help others with less remuneration. However, after I talked with a social worker who I did the interview project. She told me she loves her job, that was fine when she worked with the little people. Also, she mentioned us when she decided to be a social worker she had to stay with a profession social worker and learn two to three years. For those …show more content…
years, she would travel to several different places to help people in need. She told us that was very good trip, if we love travel, because that is free trip and the important thing was we could help others. However, if we want to be a social worker at Washington state, that is not easy, because a master social degree is necessary. But she did not suggest us to be a social worker if we did not marry, because that is a not a good job to make more money. In my opinion, to be a social worker is not that difficult, we just need spent more time on that, but I am wrong.
The social worker should accept the service object from the heart, regard them as important partners in the process of work, and should keep the attitude of tolerance and respect to the value preference, habit and belief of the clients. It is not because of the physiology, psychology, race, Sex, age, occupation, social status, beliefs and other factors they have any discrimination, but cannot refuse to provide social services to clients for these reasons. However, I do not think anyone can do the service object from heart. One case was when I did the interview project, I called a social worker and tried to make an appointment with her. After I told she why I called her, she sounds like angry to said “NO!” and hang up the phone. I was shocked, because in my impression the social worker should be mild person. I harbored feelings of apprehension and tried to call the second social worker. The second social worker was more friendly and asked me if she need wore the formal clothes. Overall, that thing has surprised me and I think that is not anyone can be a social
worker. After this class, I know I just know a little field around my life. I have to say I am a timid person. I never watch the horror film, even war movies, because I am afraid when people died. I know the war is terrible, but I never thought that will be happen in real life. That is hard to image how bad if that really happen. However, after watch the videos which was a weekly discussion. In the video, the most child leave their country because of war. That let me know the other face of this world. I know I have to change myself, because I live in peaceful place and enjoy the comfortable life, but I did nothing meaningful. I am not sure what should I use in the future for what I learned in this course, because I will not be a social worker in the future. However, I already know this job is exist, if anyone need I can tell them where to find help.

Social work as a profession strives to help the welfare of those within the community whether its persons or families through advocacy. Often times clients are those who may be vulnerable and disadvantaged. Social workers aim to help people fulfill basic needs in their everyday lives and assist them by providing beneficial resources and intervention counseling. In this course we have looked at many different things that pertain to how social workers do their jobs and how they affect society. However there are a few main themes that we appear to have come across. Those themes are: oppression, the government and the individual. A social worker must be able to separate their personal values and biases from their professional career. However, a complete separation is never truly attainable and client to a more competent professional can be a difficult and grey area for social workers.
I have chosen social work as a profession because of my passion to help others. I want to make a difference in someone’s life and help them through the problems they are having. Whether the client needs counseling, guidance, or advocacy I want to be the person to help them. My drive for helping others and motivation to change social policies for the better is why I have chosen social work as my future profession.
As a student who began her college career without specific objectives, I never thought I would be writing a personal statement for an application to receive a Master’s Degree in the social work profession. However, I feel now that there is no other future for me than that of offering my education and personal commitment to vulnerable individuals in order to stabilize their lives. After careful consideration of all areas of social work, I have found that my main area of interest is in providing resources and encouragement for individuals with disabilities to gain the freedom to live independent lifestyles without discrimination. My personal goal in this profession is to make every possible effort in assisting these individuals with finding the means to satisfy their needs.
My interest in becoming a social worker started at a very young age. I remember always possessing the desire to help people who were in need and have frequently being the person who others have approached when faced with difficult situations. Often, I felt as if listening was not enough. I remember feeling unequipped to help them. When I spoke about this career choice with some of the big influences in my personal life, I was told no matter what situation I have ever been faced with I have always managed to handle myself appropriately in what were, sometimes, delicate situations. Whether these situations were with complete strangers or people I have known for years, mediation, has been something that has come naturally to me. In addition to
Social work was not a profession that I had considered prior to this year, but, after I researched it, I quickly learned that it was the perfect fit for me. I feel that this is exactly where the Lord wants me to be and I know that this is the right path for my life. It is a cliché to say that the reason I want to be a social worker is because I want to help people, but there is truth to that. However, there is much more to it than just helping people. I want to make life easier for people by connecting them with appropriate resources, educational opportunities, and/or support. I want to be able to use the skills I have to better the lives of others, ease their burdens, and allow them to live a better life.
Social Work is a person-centered real life human to human practical interactional job that requires more creativity and intuition. A social worker need not be highly technical, does not need to explain theoretical concepts and utter big words to the client nor are there reference guides or templates of what to do and what to give in specific cases. A good relationship between the client and the social worker is important in dealing with issues as the client is the expert of his own personal life and each human experience is considered to be unique as each person is treated with dignity and high confidentiality. Hence, social workers must achieve not only scientific technical and theoretical proficiencies, but moreso, a deep understanding of the human condition using contextual knowledge, personal experience, common sense, and wisdom with a heart on the job. Social work as a profession, just like any other profession has adopted and based its knowledge based on theories to guide professional practice.

When they are in need we must do everything in our power to make a change. Sometimes this involve advocating for them to see a change in social problems. The social work profession is defined as “a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people (ISFW, ‘Global Definition of Social Work’, 2016).” The definition may be true about the profession but it is more in depth than just that. To me, the profession’s primary focus is to help others through life as much as we can while letting them make their own choices and guiding them. In society, social workers are utilized in many different nonprofit and government roles. They serve the community in many different ways from monitoring parent visits to helping people through mental illnesses. Human beings are so complex and things that happen
