Describe/explain how the knowledge gained in this course have impacted your practice of physical therapy. This pharmacology course has enhanced my professional practice leading to improvement in patient outcomes. It has deepened my understanding of medications with each and every discussions and assignments. It made me a better practitioner by improving my knowledge, skills, attitudes, competence, performance, and quality of patient care. My attitude toward drug conversation is more positive. I believe I am more confident in discussing any aspect of my patients medications. I believe that I am more adequate as a clinician in providing explanations on how it works and how their body deals with it. I am communicating more effectively with my patients and to the other health care providers. I believe I am more open and concise in terms of factors that may affect their plan of care. Since I started this course, I was able to effectively interact with couple of doctors regarding our patient's reaction to medications that lead to proper dose adjustments. I am more knowledgeable in terms of types of drugs that we use to treat I have a better understanding of beneficial and adverse effects of drugs. I know about the signs and symptoms from adverse effects of each drug and from drug to drug interaction. An example of this is the interaction between hydrochlorothiazide and digoxin. During exercise, the intensity should be slow and easy and the use of Borg RPE scale as a way of measuring physical activity intensity level is important because the patient's heart rate may not rise in proportion to intensity of the exercise. 444Knowing how can you best prescribe exercise, its proper recommendations and considerations to safely perform the exercise is paramount during such situations.
