Personal Privacy and Companies
It is certainly a different world nowadays. You can no longer go on the internet and surf without the potential threat of your privacy being compromised and invaded. When the internet first became big you didn’t hear a lot about the issue of privacy and computers. Maybe it was because the public was naïve, but that is not the case anymore. This issue is fast becoming the heart of heated debates about how to save your privacy. Privacy is a term that is dfifficult to define, it’s different to everyone with about a zillion interpretations of the words exact meaning. So let’s take the time and gain a better understanding of it’s meaning. According to the Webster’s dictionary, privacy is seclusion or isolation from others – secrecy. On the surface this doesn’t seem like it would pertain to information systems, but think again. Everything we do on the Internet has the risk of being watched or observed. It may be from other companies or scary enough the government. This issue is fast becoming the number one concern from users of the web. How can these people keep tabs on me? Technology has been a definite blessing, it’s also has the potential to be dangerous. A good example exists right here on campus. We use our social security numbers for virtually everything, from registration to purchasing books at the bookstore. If this number fell into the wrong hands it could prove disastrous to the person of that number. They would then have full access to any and all information they chose to use. They could access your banking files, your credit report and credit card numbers. They could ruin your lives in a short period of time. So in this respect privacy means a lot more than just i...

... other from access the customer’s information without consent. They will be able to choose the level of privacy they wish to have. While some analysts feel that they don’t see a trend toward software geared the consumer for at home protection, there is a definite surge toward the protection of clientele information. While most companies make a profit off of their customer information databases by selling them to third party companies, some companies like Earthlink have developed a competitive priority not to sell the information. They feel that the information they have on their customer is a privilege to possess and that the customer trust us by giving Earthlink their loyal business and we do not want to violate that. As technology grows so grows the need for companies to listen to their customers and implement a solid privacy policy that the people can trust.

During the first year of Magic Johnson as the owner, the fan attendance went up 8.6 percent. "When I got off the boat in L.A. (in 1979), the Dodgers were on the first page of the sports section," said Earvin "Magic" Johnson. "I checked the Lakers on the third page. That's how far down we were. I said, 'Wow, this was a Dodger town.' Three things: Dodgers, No. 1. USC footba...
In 1992, the Bulls came roaring back after winning the finals in 1991. They dominated throughout the year and threatened the league’s record before finishing 67-15(year by year). To begin, consider how countries handle the privacy of individuals in general, not exclusively in the electronic environment. Most countries around the world protect an individual’s right to privacy in some respects, because “privacy is a fundamental human right that has become one of the most important human rights of the modern age”2. Definitions for privacy vary according to context and environment. For example, in the United States Justice Louis Brandeis defined privacy as the “right to be left alone”3. In the United Kingdom, privacy is “the right of an individual to be protected against intrusion into his personal life or affairs…by direct physical means or by publication of information”4. Australian legislation states that “privacy is a basic human right and the reasonable expectation of every person”5. Regardless of varying definitio...
The 1960s were dominated by big men. In fact the 1961-62 season was known as the season of giants. During the 1960s era, Bill Russell’s Boston Celtics won eleven championships in thirteen seasons. During the 1980s, the game of basketball grew tremendously. This was all due to the huge rivalry of Magic Johnson’s Lakers and Larry Bird’s Celtics(NBA.com NBA Top Finals Moments). The 1990s saw the era of Michael Jordan. Jordan became the NBA and was perhaps even bigger than it. After the Jordan era, more players from around the world began to join the league(NBA Hoops Online, NBA History). Finally, the two thousands were run by the legend Kobe Bryant and the future Hall of Famer LeBron James(NBA.com, NBA Top Finals Moments).

Change is the only constant in life. And therefore it should be understood as part of a continuing work in progress that calls for a much broader canvas that seeks out competing voices, and works with the resulting ambiguities, contradictions and tensions of messy reality (Graetz, F. & Smith, A., 2010). In this submission I try to show that organizational change is majorly based on the environment surrounding it much more than the desire of the members or change agents working in that organization. This view diverts from that of Lippitt, (1958) who suggests that implementing planned organizational changes successfully depends on premeditated interventions intended to modify the functioning of an organization. It also diverts from the traditional approaches to organizational change that generally follow a linear, rational model in which the focus is on controllability under the stewardship of a strong leader or ‘guiding coalition (Collis, 1998). In this discussion therefore, comparison made between the different philosophies of change and I try to show that successful change implantation largely depends on an organizations appreciation of what goes on around it rather than what they have planned as a strategic direction.

The word “privacy” did not grow up with us throughout history, as it was already a cultural concept by our founding fathers. This term was later solidified in the nineteenth century, when the term “privacy” became a legal lexicon as Louis Brandeis (1890), former Supreme Court justice, wrote in a law review article, that, “privacy was the right to be let alone.” As previously mentioned in the introduction, the Supreme Court is the final authority on all issues between Privacy and Security. We started with the concept of our fore fathers that privacy was an agreed upon concept that became written into our legal vernacular. It is being proven that government access to individual information can intimidate the privacy that is at the very center of the association between the government and the population. The moral in...
Privacy in the Workplace Introduction Technology has developed in leaps and bounds over the past few decades. The case is that the law always has difficulty keeping pace with new issues and technology and the few laws that are enacted are usually very general and obscure. The main topic of this paper is to address the effect of technology on privacy in the workplace. We have to have an understanding of privacy before trying to protect it. Based on the Gift of Fire, privacy has three pieces: freedom from intrusion, control of information about one's self, and freedom from surveillance.1 People's rights have always been protected by the constitution, such as the Fourth Amendment, which protects people from "unreasonable searches and seizures".
Perhaps the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, said it best when he claimed that privacy is no longer a “social norm.” Virtually everyone has a smart phone and everyone has social media. We continue to disclose private information willingly and the private information we’re not disclosing willingly is being extracted from our accounts anyway. Technology certainly makes these things possible. However, there is an urgent need to make laws and regulations to protect against the stuff we’re not personally disclosing. It’s unsettling to think we are living in 1984 in the 21st century.
Putting things in proper perspective, the Western Conference is loaded, five or more teams will win 55+ games and at least seven playoff slots are already locked up. When you discuss the Western Conference playoffs teams, in no particular order, you must mention 1) Golden State Warriors 2) San Antonio Spurs 3) Oklahoma City Thunder 4) Memphis Grizzlies 5) L.A. Clippers 6) Houston Rockets 7) New Orleans Pelicans 8) Dallas Mavericks. It is debateable to state, with certainty, that the Lakers are better than the Portland Trailblazers, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz or Sacramento Kings today. The Lakers have the talent to exceed ESPN’s Summer Forcast and win 30-35 games. The Lakers are moving in the right direction and have more talent on their roster than last year. The purple and gold have a good mix of veterans and young players. The Los Angeles Lakers do not have the look of a playoff team in the stacked Western Conference however this is where the challenge of making the playoffs when no one thinks you can comes into
