Grabbing another of the what seems, an endless supply of pizza, I place it into the Ziploc baggie waiting to be filled. My Saturday mornings consist of packaging food for low-income families. After Zesto’s packages the food, we place them in the freezer for the families. We have pick up located at the building downtown. Zestos’ also doubled as a thrift shop based strictly off donations of time and items for the store. I worked at Zesto’s my eighth and ninth grade years of school. Something that’s always stuck with me was the feeling of being able to make a difference in someone’s life. I grew too busy to be able to continue the work at Zesto’s, but the time I spent there stays etched into my mind. I carried on doing my schoolwork,
Many people have come and gone through my life. Like a revolving door, but it doesn’t matter how long they stayed in my life. To me, it only matters on how they made an impact on me. I think about Kurt Zuidmulder every day, he was a coach, teacher, and father. He was also a friend to the whole community of Hermantown, MN, and Hibbing, MN. He was the greatest human I have ever met, and I will never forget him. Kurt affected me through his larger than life personality, his incredible sense of humor, and his overall kindness.
The quality control in Pizza My Heart begins from procurement to kitchens at every location. The first thing that sets it apart from others is local sourcing to en...
The Hero’s Journey is a basic template utilized by writers everywhere. Joseph Campbell, an American scholar, analyzed an abundance of myths and literature and decided that almost all of them followed a template that has around twelve steps. He would call these steps the Hero’s Journey. The steps to the Hero’s Journey are a hero is born into ordinary circumstances, call to adventure/action, refusal of call, a push to go on the journey, aid by mentor, a crossing of the threshold, the hero is tested, defeat of a villain, possible prize, hero goes home. The Hero’s Journey is more or less the same journey every time. It is a circular pattern used in stories or myths.
Later that year, I was accepted into Spanish Honors Society, a volunteer based program to help out the Spanish communities near my school along with volunteering to help raise money for organizations that help less developed countries. One particular project that I helped raise money for through Spanish Honors Society, was Project Running Waters. The money raised for this event was donated to help people living in Guatemala receive fresh water through pipe systems that would be built. We raised over one thousand dollars to donate to this cause. Knowing that I can positively impact individuals in my community and in other countries makes me feel like I have grown maturely and am able to understand what needs to be done to make a difference to
Not only did we help students with their work, we also organized school fundraisers and organized things around our school. This is one thing that I would do again if there was something similar at Kealing. I am a creative, dynamic, motivated person and I would contribute that to the Kealing environment by working with others and simply by being at Kealing. I think I am a good fit for the Kealing Magnet Program, and I think it is a good fit for
Natalia Martinez is 32 years old and lives in her hometown Fairfield,CA with her husband of four years and two lovely children. You might of seen her working in the Solano County Office of Social Services but now she works as a stay at home mom. She takes care of her 3 year old boy, Ronaldo, while getting her 9 year old girl, Giselle, to school. She is a very humble but outspoken person who's not afraid to speak up when she has to, something she attributes to being the middle child and feeling the only way to be heard was to be loud, especially in a house with six children. She’s the type of person you always know you can count on whenever you have a problem. She faces every difficult situation in her life like Superwoman and does not let anything stop her from achieving her goals.
An unusual story involving incentives and morning cuisine is that of Levitt’s recalling of Paul Feldman who ran a bagel delivery service in Washington D.C. Feldman had brought in bagels to work every week while working at a research institute and in order to keep funding the bagels he had a collections b...
At Bianco, this seems to come naturally. Initially, people might try Pizzeria Bianco to sample the fabled food. After all, restaurant critics don’t just like this place, they rave about it: “I first ate at Pizzeria Bianco in 2009, and it rocked my world. It was the best pizza I’d ever had, and I’ve eaten at many of the top-ranked pizzerias around the world” (Olmsted p 4). However, what keeps people coming back for decades is far more complex and includes how Pizzeria Bianco makes them feel. The combination of exceptional ingredients, Chris’ genius creativity, the staff’s impeccable warmth, reasonable prices and a little bit of something magical makes for a near perfect experience. Beginning from the moment you open the door, up until the time you receive and pay the check, this place offers value: you get more than what you pay for
Over the years I have been very involved in my community and school. Being a part of something helps to define who you are as a person and the principles and values you hold as important. A personal experience that helps to show my talents and skills can be illustrated by my trip to Italy last April with the MHS Language Department.
Throughout my years attending Woodside, I joined the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). Being involved with these two clubs so far has provided me with the astonishing lessons that I will need in life to have a successful future for myself. Also, I am planning to go very far in life after high school due to these two important clubs because of the many ways they have helped me as an individual. Not only did I participate in clubs but I have also volunteered at Greenwood Elementary School. Being a volunteer at this school involved me working with kindergarteners and 1st graders. My duties included reading to the children, helping with any assigned classwork or homework, making sure they are safe, and assisting the teachers with anything they needed help with. I have always had a passion of helping others and volunteering at Greenwood was a very enjoyable experience for
Dr. D is a cardiothoracic surgeon. He was my hero. He may well still be, even though he is a throw-back to the days when I was more concerned about science than symbolism.
When I think about the people who have influenced me over the years I could spit out handful of candidates such as my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents. I would be telling half the truth if I had taken that stance. I started my second job about two years ago. I nervously awaited for a response of employment for six months after undergoing a background check and three part test (math, language arts and customer service). After ranking high enough on this test I was then sent to a paneled interview with six city recreation specialists. I was never quite sure what I would do in the recreation branch until they told me I would be a good match for a program called Kids Club. Kids Club is a program that runs in the CNUSD district and provides eight different elementary schools with after hour on site homework help, group games, craft, snacks, movies and during the summer we run an "Adventure Camp". The students I have worked with over these past two years have becoming a driving force for my career, ambition and motivation in my daily life. Working with kids have given me a whole new level of respect for patience and understanding. I've learned that everyone has a different story and their own struggles. Some of these kids have faced horrors I can never begin to imagine at their ages. It has inspired me

I started working at the Newark Museum during my sophomore year. I’ve been on several field trips and college tours, met a lot of people, and made new friends. There were many wonderful opportunities offered during this paid-internship Science Program which I’ve taken great advantage, such as collaborating with the head director of the Newark Museum, working as an assistant supervisor, and being a role model to my work colleagues. My main duties are to scan papers and books, post upcoming events on the Newark Museum’s websit...
