When I married Winslow, I was still working at Kenworth’s Seattle plant. Rising to my seniority and my salary increasing, I moved to the new Renton plant that opened in 1993. The warehouse is 270,000 square feet. It is bright yellow, and red on the inside. Inside the plant 200 other works and I panted an average of a dozen cabs a day. I was a truck painter, and I was especially good at it. This job requires a steady hand, high attention to detail, and the ability to transfer the intricacies of a blueprint onto a piece of fiberglass. I’d have to mirror each side of the truck with a complex painting. It took a lot of patience. My partner Martha Parkhill would spray paint the truck while I prepared the masking tape inside the cab. One job could

utilitarian objects to propose creative solutions to complex problems. The art named The Neighborhood Machine 2010 1996 773 Bobcat is an example of industrial design. The bobcat is a moving sculpture and parts are functional. The other exhibit is Latoya Ruby Frazier Mother May I which is photos and video of the artists grandmother, mother and herself. The photos show real and raw emotions of the artists homes and family life. When looking at the photos you could feel the emotion captured in the photo. When looking at the pieces of art work there was a rhythm that moved you from one piece of work to another piece of work. These photographs were not posed so there is a raw emotion of the relationship between grandmother, mother and herself. The last exhibit in the MOCAD is the Woodward Avenue by artist Jef Geys. The style of this art would have to fall under realism. The art captures the Detroit plants along Woodward Avenue at every intersection beginning at Cadillac and ending at Sagninaw Street. In this exhibit you see dried
The young workers first used video and still cameras to record the site and used “housepaint, aquadhere, wood glue and plastic”(Michaels, 1988, p. 201) to paint over it, followed by acrylic paint rather than traditional soluble ochre when mimicking the original designs. Their renewal of the 5000-year-old design was referred to as looking “tea towel kitsch”, (Michaels, 1988, p. 201) contrary to the authentic primordial aesthetic that

Growing up all my friends had perfect jobs for teenagers. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time applying for jobs and searching for places to work because money didn’t come easy and I wanted to be in control of my own money. But I could never score a job. I applied to at least 100 jobs at least twice and I still couldn’t get an opportunity.
The Home Depot began changing consumer’s perspectives about how they could care for and improve their homes, by creating a “do-it-yourself’ concept. According to the founders, the customer has a bill of rights at the Home Depot. The bill of rights entitles the customer to the right assortment, quantities and price (of tools and home improvement supplies) along with trained associates on the sales floor. Home Depot describes their business strategy as a three legged stool, which stands for customer service, product knowledge and availability and disciplined capital allocation. (Moskowitz,
The concept behind the new buildings for the factory was to explore options of design that focused not only on the program of the factory, but to also consider the emotional and physical needs of the labor force. While J.A. Brinkman is considered one of the designers for the Van Nelle Factory, architect L. C. van der Vlugt and Chairman Kees van der Leeuw were a stronger inf...
Maybe it’s the fact that I tend to stay in my room all weekend, which leads to people thinking I’m studying when in reality I am probably binge watching a TV show or maybe it’s my glasses, but most people who don’t know me too well assume that I am smart. Now that is a great thing for me because I don’t have to try as hard to impress them, but I end up finding myself in a bit of a problem. The problem is that everyone thinks I enjoy admiring school textbooks. But the truth is I’m usually admiring my Justin Bieber poster on my bedroom wall. Ever since I was in sixth grade I’ve been a huge fan of Bieber. His music always brought a feeling of calmness and back in the day his “never say never” motto, was what I lived by. I might still be living by that motto because I’ve decided to write this essay
Much of my time was spent in the studio during my time in college. My professor, Nick Roudebush, saw this drive and hired me as the head studio assistant. As the studio assistant, my job was to fire the kilns, make clay and glazes, assist students in projects, and provide a creative and inclusive work environment. The first summer after I was hired, I petitioned to stay on campus and work in the
Frank Blake, who followed Robert Nardelli, decided to bring back Home Depot's inverted pyramid, with customers at the top and "CEO" at the bottom (Tobin 2010). Blake’s goal was to listen more to employees and customers.
When Joe schedules deliveries, he tends to start doing them late in the evening, what makes us be out on deliveries to 10 to 11pm and people don’t want their furniture being delivered at their house in the middle of the night. The way the business is being ran makes us look bad and something needs to change or the business will start losing customers and not making money like we should be. Sometimes the furniture tends to get dusty and nobody wants to clean it, and eventally i’m the one that always cleans the inside of the furniture store to make it look good and attract the customers attention to how clean it looks. I’ve heard over people saying that the furniture is dusty and that doesn’t sound good, it’s make us look bad. After dealing with all the commotion, i’ve decided to be in more control of my part of the job in making the store look more professional in getting what needs to be
I remember the year my Highschool team went to the state championship. My team the Kansas City Hawks went up against the twelve time champs The St.Louis Kings. What made them twelve time champs was us. Every time my team went to the championship The Kings met us there. All twelve times The King where the victors. January 25,2024 The Hawks were on a warpath for that Championship.
My life is like a novel, not one of that with a twist and turn at every corner, however a more unflustered yet compelling story. Since the beginning of my student career the one quality that has been persistent with me would have to be my fearless work ethic. While many friends of mine in my childhood would be reading Marvel Comics I would be the lone one reading on Pythagorean’s Theorem or the anatomy of dinosaurs. School has not been the easiest of tasks, and not taking any on level classes during my highschool tenure doesn't help. While many of my friends today go out shopping or catching movie on a Friday night, I would stay home and get ahead on projects or reports due the next week. Although doing homework on a Friday night is not
I believe that you never know how strong you really are until that strength is tested. High school is by no means an easy time for anyone, but some do experience a far bumpier road than others. Sometimes those bumps are small anthills, barely noticeable. Other times they are more like deep potholes on a narrow mountain road, a sure fire way to go careening off the path. I have been fortunate enough to have the perseverance needed to struggle through the obstacles life has thrown at me, yet it has not always been easy.
My mentor name was David Joe Ursy. He works for Joe McGee Construction. He works for Joe McGee on the farm portion of his business. He works on tractors, combines, welding, and farming crops. He has been working for Joe McGee for 20-30 years. To me it's fun and interesting. I like to do it some people don’t like it. When we started working on my project, I cleaned all the metal with a wire brush. Once I got it all the metal cleaned of rust, I started making the top after I got the top like I wanted it, I welded it and put all the nuts and bolts inside the table. I checked to see how it looked and took them out. I cleaned the camshaft and welded it to the flexplate.
