Everyone has a favorite sport; my favorite sport is football. I love the game of football, it is a fun game to watch and play. The game is also a physical game to play; I love to be physical. That’s probably why I like it; also, football brings people together. There’s nothing better than getting together on Thanksgiving to watch football. I like every sport, but football is my favorite because of the love I have for the game, the physicality of the game, and the way the game brings people together. My love for the game is one of the biggest reasons I love football. All my life I’ve been playing football, from the backyard to high school. Football was the first sport I ever played. There would be days when there was nothing to do, so my friends and I would just go to the field and play football all day long; in some instances we would stay out there all night too. Football has provided me with a lot of memories that I will never forget; one memory is winning our conference my junior year in high …show more content…
In every other sport, contact is against the rules; being involved in contact will get one a foul or depending on the sport maybe even thrown out of the game. Getting pumped up and knocking the snot out of someone is like nothing else. The only sport one can do this in is football. The position I play a football is called Linebacker. Basically the linebacker has one job: to find the person with the football and knock their head off. Since I am a physical person, I have no problem doing that. Football is all about contact, and that’s what I love the most. I have an anger problem and, therefore, I love contact; I never shy away from any kind of physical contact. A game of football after a long day of problems is good for me; also growing up with three brothers, I had to fight every day, so there’s nothing like a little physical game of
Football is an extremely violent game not only in the physical part but also in the mental part of the game. Players are coach to be vicious on the field. they are taught to get mad and take their aggression out on the other player. Which can be dangerous when two or more players are trying to hurt(intentionally or not) the other player by hitting them hard. High school sports are dangerous because rese...
Those hot days in those great summers football was my favorite pastime. I lived in a house with two sisters and no brothers the most close thing to a brother was my football some friends and the field.
Football is a very exciting sport to play and watch. Boys enjoy getting a touch down and kicking a field goal. People love to sit and watch their friends and family perform. Even though everyone gets a lot excitement out of it, football can be very dangerous. The danger can occur within getting tackled or just by running up and down the field. "Football is at a crossroads," says Jodi Balsam, a sports law professor at Brooklyn Law School in New York. "And that crossroads is about convincing the next generation of players and their parents that the game is safe to play and that the rewards of playing outweigh the risks." (New York Times Upfront, Charles) Football has always been a sport known for hard tackles and rough play, making injuries inevitable. Football is a dangerous sport because it can lead to problems with the head like: concussions, brain damage, and head trauma.
“A concussion is caused and or defined as, a direct blow to the head, face, or neck or elsewhere on the body with an “impulsive” force transmitted to the head” (Halstead 598). The threat that always seems to cause a major dilemma on football fields
Do you have that certain something that has affected your life for better? Football is that thing for me. I have played it as long as I could walk. I still remember the time when I was very little and my dad would take me to the front yard and we would play catch and talk about football for hours. I have enjoyed football in three big parts of life: Pee Wee, Junior High, and High school.
On T.V we see all of the cool catches and touchdowns, but don’t forget about all the huge hits or injuries we hear about. On espn they have a category “Top Ten Hits of The Week”. If you’ve ever played or watched it up close, then you know that being an animal was good. Don Sabo states from “Pigskin, Patriarchy, and Pain” that “I learned to be an animal. Coaches took notice of animals” (Sabo, p. 61). People say that “pain is part of the game”, and I completely agree. But isn’t pain pretty much what the game surrounds? Pain is the game. It seems as though they don’t teach the kids to play football because it’s fun. They teach the kids to play football because it’s manly. Making someone hurt is the objective as an individual player. Of course the ultimate objective is to score and win. But if you can break someone 's bone along the way, or make someone cry, than you have done well. I can’t count how many times i’ve heard football players bragging about hits or injuries they gave someone. In “Pigskin, Patriarchy, and Pain” Don Sabo says “If I saw an arm in front of me, I trampled it. Whenever blood was spilled, I nodded approval” (Sabo, p. 61). In other sports, that’s considered a foul. But in football it’s expected. It’s teaching kids in their developing stages to be aggressive and angry all of the time. Instead of just enjoying what they 're
Football is one of the most popular sports today, and for good reasons. The intensity involved is football is unlike any other sport, and this attracts people to football. The way the game has evolved over the years also intrigues audiences to gather around to watch. The sports industry today has become a great part of entertainment in the world. Because football is a very large portion of the sports industry, it is very important to many people. Large groups of people dedicate their entire lives to the game of football and without it, the world would be a completely different place.
Football was always something special to me and always will be, I started playing football when I was five years old for Little Devils Football. It all began after wrestling practice one day where we got to dress up in football pads and hit each other for fun. That day I fell in love with the sport and realized how fun it would be to play it throughout my life and how I would enjoy it. I Started playing the next season I could, I met some new friends and became best friends with my dear friend Mikey Schrand. Me and Mikey rode to practice together, games together and even hanged out together. I started the season playing middle linebacker and fullback. I loved playing and loved the positions i played. Times were with our coach being a former arena football player. I went to practice every day at seven p.m. and stayed till nine p.m. and man that coach made us run like no other coach, we ran more than a track team. I remember some practices were we would have to go to the notorious hill where it was basically straight up and down and we would do bear crawls up and down the hill for two ...
Walking through the halls of school, grocery stores or at work I can't help to notice all the football teams backpack’s,tee’s and hats but why is this? Is Football so exciting to watch or since football has been around for a long time does it gives a certain unity to have a team. As well as gambling and the fantasy football leagues that might have the people on there feet. Football gives the people excitement because it moves quickly and requires the hard-hitting contact of the defensive line plus the precision skills and speed of the quarterback and running backs. Football combines what people like about other sports like the hitting of boxing, precision passing of basketball also the camaraderie of baseball. Some people enjoy football because
“Football changed my life and it gave me a platform to get out my aggression and it gave me a sense of value.” said by Dwayne Johnson. When I had nothing to do at home I could always go and play football with my friends instead of going out and doing something I shouldn’t. When you grow up with a family that loves football and goes to a school where the passion is mainly playing football. I ask myself every day what would my life be without football. If it wasn't for football, I don't know where I would be right now. Football kept me out of trouble and it also helped me out in school when I needed it the most. If I were to describe what makes me, me I would have to say its football.
Football is America’s sport. In many American households, Sunday afternoons are dedicated to watching professional football on TV with family cheering on their favorite team, and going to a football game is the ultimate fan experience. Children idolize the best football players and want to grow up and dream to play football just like their heroes. Youth tackle football is a part of American culture, and the age of starting tackle football seems to decrease as time has progressed. More kids at a younger age are being exposed to football that involves extreme physical contact, especially constant contact with the player’s head.
The sport itself is very violent, and even with pads it can cause injuries. Many parents of players say that the sport itself is not very dangerous, and this is their opinion. But based off of evidence concussions are a main part of playing football, and last time I checked concussions were dangerous. According to DenverPost, “For Americans, "football" involves men in elaborate and expensive exoskeletons who try to run or kick an oblong object into their opponent's end zone. This requires no little mayhem. It is all about taking down opponents, which demands collisions, concussions, contusions, and more.”(Douglas Groothuis). Collisions and huge hits in the NFL and in junior Football leagues just add to the violent nature of the sport, and this can lead again to Concussions and other injuries that can destroy a sport players career. PSU. Edu says, “Beneath the carnival atmosphere lies the fact these fans have gathered to watch young men hit and bruise one another—a violent spectacle that is one of America's favorite pastimes. Given its nature and its prominent position in our culture, is football the Roman gladiator sport for modern Americans?’(Jesse Hicks). Jesse Hicks and many other sports fans around the nation love to watch the sport of football, but have you ever thought about the similarities of Football and Roman Gladiators? Its the same
Every Sunday afternoon at halftime of the Dallas Cowboys football game, my dad and I strolled outside and threw the football around. Together, we would run all of the different patterns that we had just finished watching on television. I shared a bond with my dad that no one else shared with me, and that was the intense love of the game of football.
American Football is not merely a sport, its a culture. In the south football is in some ways a lifestyle. From the rivalries to the championships its truly one of the most exciting sports to have ever been created. This is why I love it so much, it is much more than just a game it has a much deeper meaning to it. From the outside looking in, many people do not fully realize the impact it has on each and every player throughout its history. Football has made me who I am today.
Something that I enjoy is sports. I like sports because most sports pass time because I am not staring at a clock. Sports can also be fun, like if I score a point, or if at the beginning of the game most players get adrenaline. I can also socialise with my teammates. Some of the sports that I play are fun and help me with stamina and reflexes and strategies. And another thing is that why I should play sports.
