“You may have to fight a battle more than once to win.” People who try will succeed, while people who don't try will not succeed. This is true for me because if I hadn't worked for my snake, I would probably not have her. It took me many years to convince my mom to get me a snake. I wanted one since I was 10. I got my snake when I turned 12 at the Arizona Herpetological society. I have been taking care of 3 dogs, 3 fish, and a lizard. I also babysit my brothers a lot so that contributed. I have worked hard for my snake. I wrote a couple other essays for my mom to get my snake. The battle to get my snake took a while, but I pushed on, and even though my mom doesn't like snakes, she got me one. So I may have won in the end, but I had to lose …show more content…
I got makeup little by little, but now I have it. My mom has a lot of things I want on her NO list like no dyeing my hair, no tattoos when I grow up, and extravagant clothes. I have wanted to dye my hair for a long time now. Even though I just want to dye the ends of my hair she says no. When I grow up, I hope to get a tattoo in memory of my dog who is really old right now, named Sevy. Even though I keep losing the battle to dye my hair or get a tattoo I will persist. One day I hope to win the battle over getting my hair dyed, but I think it will be a long time. When I turn 18, I hope she changes her mind about dyeing my hair , and getting tattoos, and even if she didn’t, I will still get them. There is probably going to be a lot more battles I will face with my mom when I grow up. I might lose some I might win some, but I will grow from every …show more content…
If I’m playing a board game or card game if I'm not doing good the first couple times, I will be a sore loser and not try anymore. In Monopoly I don’t play as a character, I play as the banker so I don’t lose. I don’t like most board games, especially if I tend to lose. There is this game that we got on Christmas called Exploding Kittens I don’t play it because I'm not good at it, so I just watch. I don’t really like those kind of games, but games like Minecraft even if I die I will try and try and not stop. If I have goal I try harder in games. In Monopoly being the banker helps me with my math without paper because I'm Dyslexic. My main goal in math is to be the best I can, because I skipped 7th so sometimes I don’t understand because they learned it last year, and if we have a review, I have to learn it all new and that is a battle. I might have to fight this battle more than once which might be
Video games are much more than just a way to pass time. It is an opportunity to experience new people and social environments, find out interests and skill sets, and to also, in an extreme case, find a career like Markiplier has done. In short I just wanted to say that I wouldn’t be where I am with my goals today if it weren’t for Markiplier’s ability to make his fans see his support of their dreams and the highlight of the most important things in reaching your goals of which include taking chances, believing in yourself, and never giving up. In the words of Mark, “never give up, no matter what may set you back, and know that at the end of the road, you’re going to have something that you can be proud of.” Don’t stop until you’re where you want to be, and even then just keep moving
The section of the book private victory’s, and the habit win win. Talks about how you should never even think about losing you should always think about winning. Also you should always try to find a solution to a problem and try to make it a win-win equation. And i feel that i am not so good at this skill and i need to
How often do you make excuses to yourself that you can’t do something? Some people say maybe twice a day, but if Kyle Maynard from the book: No Excuses can achieve his goals, then anyone can if they believe and put in as much heart as he did. The book is about a young man who grew up with no limbs. He might have the disability, but he still will achieve anything that is placed in front of him. People need to push their self to receive what they want and not just expect it to happen so easily. When Kyle wanted to do something, his parents wouldn’t stop him. They loved him as much as the world and would do anything for him. You shouldn’t let poor excuses get in the way of your dreams. These excuses stop you from doing what you want to do and
Some life lessons are better to be learned at an early stage at life and for my situation it’s good that I did. I learned that one should never depend on others when it comes to doing your own work. You have to work hard to get what you want, you can’t just wait for others to do it for you. This is one of the toughest lessons I learned and it’s good that I learned it. Although, it was tough for me the way I learned it.
In support of the belief that video games benefit people intellectually, there is a claim that game play provides cognitive, motivational, emotional, and social benefits (Granic, Lobel, Engels). In partial response, video games cannot offer cognitive benefits because they do not offer real life lessons. Yes, game play may allow someone to gain knowledge that will later be applied to the video game, but there are no positive real world techniques to be obtained. Playing video games will not increase and individuals motivational skills. The defense is made that failure within video games is intended to serve as motivational tools, providing multiple chances to reach success (Granic, Lobel, and Engels). While the feeling of success may be prevalent when an objective is completed, this fe...
The beauty of life becomes apparent from the tail end of a five hundred pound turtle. Crouching uncomfortably, my hands under her cloaca, I caught the eggs. Each made a subtle ‘plop’ as each cue ball-shaped egg exited the safety her womb and found its new home in the plastic bag held between my hands. It was a frigid January night in Costa Rica, and I was working with The Leatherback Trust to relocate the eggs of the highly endangered leatherback turtle in order to ensure they were safe from environmental harm. My cohorts and I worked tirelessly, patrolling the beach for hours on end in the darkness of the night to find the rare vulnerable turtle making her tire-track trail up the wet sand of the beach to her final nesting place.
Many people today feel as if gamers are unsuccessful people in life who have no sense of reality. These very people underestimate the abilities the gamers possess such as, ability to multi task, ability to comprehend complex situations and solve them efficiently, and the drive to persevere. Research shows “positive failure feedback reinforces our sense of control over the game’s outcome. And a feeling of control in a goal-oriented environment can create a powerful drive to succeed (McGonigal p67).” It further states “To optimists, set-backs are energizing and the more energized we get, the more fervently we believe that success is just around the corner.
I have a love for cats. Ever since I was a teenager I always wished for a cat of my own. When I moved in a three story apartment in California, the Manager of the complex said that cats were allowed in the units. I mentioned to my Aunt at the time that I was searching in the newspapers under advertisements for cats wanted. One cool breezy evening, my Aunt called me and said that a friend of her's named Judy had a cat named Katie who did not get along with her other two cats. So I agreed to meet with Judy to see if I'd love to adopt Katie.
I knew that in order to create my game, I had to follow a process of game development. I had to create the program that controlled the program, even more programs for the intractable objects, design the scenery, and then design the character. From this I figured I would only run into minor problems along the way. As I started working the amount of problems I encountered became tremendous. Every other day I ran into one problem or another. I would solve one issue only to find another one. Past all of this, the programming was taking longer than expected. Each code I thought I would need turned out to be four individual codes for it. It became difficult to get anything simple done easily. My thoughts, however, still remained the same. I still thought that it would be amazing to finish my first actual game. The feeling was already in me, gradually growing as I completed each program. Now, from my visitation, interviews, and the experience I have gained, even if more is to come, believe I know what the world of game development is like.
Thumbs Out A girlfriend of mine once defended me to her father by saying, calmly, “Not everyone who wanders is lost.” The dad kicked me out of the house anyway. But the damage had been done. Not everyone who wanders is lost.
With ups and downs in my career and my personal life, I have become stronger, more modest and grateful for all the chances that life offered. I have always been one of the top 10 students in class. But, I wasn’t able to perform my best in my third and final years of dentistry due to some distractions at home. But my mother always encouraged me with the thought that a failure is life’s way to make you better at something, for which you must keep trying. Holding on to that thought, I worked even harder and not only proved my merit in my second attempt, but got a better conceptual understanding about the subjects than most students around
rushing through my veins, I have never been this excited, it like I woke up with all the money in
I was eight years old in pigtails when my mother began to work out of town. It began as late nights away and progressed into weekends and, later, weeks at a time. My foot would tap impatiently as I sat at the kitchen table or on the stairs for her return; more than often, I was disappointed at the delay in her arrival. I was ten years old with loose, messy braids when I learned of my mother’s affair. It was my mistake to rummage through her car seeking a journal to write my jumbled thoughts in and I found her spiral-bound pink diary instead. Years passed and I refused to speak a word of it; it was as if a zipper were placed on my lips that only she could unzip. As I grew older, and acquired the courage to confront her, the only words she could muster were that she did not love me, nor the rest of my family--not the way she loved this man--and, that I was a failure.
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes. When they got home I didn’t tell them what I saw because i've seen Halloween movies and I have to have dissimulation otherwise the ghost will come out and get me first. October 24, 1998 I think I got a little nervous yesterday with the whole ghost thing. 12:32pm, Went to eat lunch with the family today and I go to get my coat. I heard the words furious and madness,
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
