Many people think up north is fun, I am not any different . The ride to get up there took one hour. When we got up there we unpacked and ate burgers for lunch. After we were done eating, we went to go get gas for my friend´s dirt bike and go-kart. When we got to the gas station, we saw our other friend Justin After we got back from getting gas, me and Travis filled up his go kart and dirt bike with gas. When they both were done getting filled, Travis got in the go-kart and I got on the dirt bike. For an hour I was riding perfectly. I was racing him up and down the sand pit. Which is a trail of sand. But later I tried to jump the dirt pit and wiped out. After I got up, Travis and I walked the dirt bike back and put it in the garage
I was feeling really good in this mud. My new bike was cornering perfect and hooked up so well. I was flying by guys! Half of the guys in the practice raced open class and were on 450s. I raced the lites class on a 250. You could tell if you passed a 450 just by the deep thumping sound that they made. After passing 15 to 20 guys I got really squirrely in the whoops. Almost losing it and going down, a couple guys closed up the gap I had between us. I proceeded riding not letting up a bit. Coming around the first corner on my last lap, I passed a rider on a 450. On the exit of the corner my front tire cross rutted and I slid out. In my mind I had to get up very quickly. I jumped up, grabbed my handle bars. I had my bike up and was about to hop on. All of the sudden I am on the ground and there is the guy I just passed going over the bars after hitting me. I tried to get up but I couldn’t. Trying and trying my legs were not cooperating. Bikes were flying around me. I finally crawled off the track not getting any yellow flags from the track officials. Finally, one of the track guys came over to me. I was very angry at the time. He asked me, “Are you okay?” I responded in a shout, “Do I look okay? I just crawled off the track with 20
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
I tossed my bow in the bed of the truck and took off and headed to the elk farm. Me and kevin were talking about fishing next summer and how we were going to go every other week. We really got to talking about bowhunting a lot to next year. It was making me smile when i heard that he was going to take me with him anywhere when he can.The next thing i knew was we were at the elk farm ready to kill some deer.
Just before sunrise, on Oct. 12, 2003, the residents of Argyle Road in Brooklyn were woken by gunfire.
Looking back on my life there haven’t been a lot of times where I felt like an outsider. I always had a group of friends, a family that loved me, and I like to think that my peers always thought of me as a pretty fun to be around person. However last year there was a time where I did feel as though rejection was prominent in my life..
I love camping and spending time outside, but this summer I had a completely new experience when I visited the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Before leaving, I had very little knowledge of the Boundary Waters. After getting advice from friends and purchasing some special equipment, I realized that camping there was going to be much more complicated than I had thought.
Last summer, I had an amazing opportunity to take part in a three-week expedition trip in the Teton Mountain Range. This expedition included an eleven-day hike along the crest trail of the range and a four-day guided ascent of the Grand Teton, the tallest in the range. It was a fierce personal challenge and I prepared myself physically for the arduous climb. At 13,776 feet in elevation, hiking the Grand would be a massive challenge as I had no experience in technical climbing. Our expedition guide, Ben, spent a day teaching us how to climb using ropes, then we headed out from Corbett High Camp at three in the morning. As we approached the west face of the Grand Teton, our visibility was impaired as we were in the clouds, and the mist from last night’s rain had not evaporated.
At the age of seven, my life changed forever. I was no longer living in my native country; I was now a fragment of the millions of immigrants who come to the United States in search of the American Dream. At the time, my father had recently lost his job and my mother was unemployed, which caused incredible financial stress for my family. My father decided to risk his life crossing the Rio Grande River for our family to have a better life and greater rewards.
The first nothing happened all we did was sleep because South Dakota is a hour behind Iowa so we slept in all day. The second day we finally went to Mount Rushmore and he went in the afternoon my mom took like a million picture of everything. We took about 8 hours there. When we came back the night we only had three hours there cause we took the bus there. We spent three hours inside because it was mosquito paradise. So we only watched the light up and took a ton of pictures. The last day we spent all day packing up. It still was another 8 - 10 hour drive back to Iowa I fell asleep for 4 hours. When we finally made it to Iowa it was 10:30 PM. I fell asleep right after we made it back to Iowa. So it wasn’t that bad. The trip to South Dakota it was the best thing of my summer.
I 'm not sure when I 'm going to be in the library next it probably won 't be until Judy 's retirement party. I 'm leaving work that day at 2 so I should be there about 2:30ish.
The time I accomplished something would have to be ever since I got a job myself, when I told my mom about the job she didn’t like the idea she wanted me to focus on school and helping her out at the house and taking care of my sisters. She wanted me to not worry and just worry about school but I see a lot of people my age working and getting money they earned by working and I got interested myself and for me it didn’t matter where I worked as long as I did.
There is nothing better than sitting on your front porch drinking warm apple cider while the wind whips at your cheeks, moments like this is why fall in my favorite season. I love watching the out the car window to see the brightly colored leaves gathered on the ground or the neighborhood kids sitting on their porch carving pumpkins. Fall leaves us with many activities to do in the chilly October air, like jump in piles of leaves or pick out pumpkins and the pumpkin patch. One of my favorite fall activities is picking apples. My family owns two apple trees that we pick every year. I always play a game with myself where I try to reach the highest apple on the trees. With our apples we usually make them into delicious treats or just eat them
“It all started one Friday morning”. My family and I were going dirt bike riding at Forest Hill to camp also and its like 3 and a half hours away. This was it. This was what it all comes down to. Right here, right now is my time to prove myself. They say in aspects of life that you either make it or break it. Well, this was my time to decide which would happen. I guess you could say that I revolved around softball my whole life, and usually I put my heart and soul into the game. Today was different. I had very ounce of myself in this game, but in this game my mind had to be in it too.
While on the road my friend’s sister and I got to know each other very well. We talked about how we were doing in school, and many other things. As time went by we could see the mountains getting closer and closer to us. We could not wait to climb El Capitan. When we finally arrived, we unpacked and got ready to hike El Capitan. On the way up the hike we had a great time because as we hiked up we talked about how cool it was going to be up there on top of the world.
