This world is filled with many different kinds of people. Of those people, many are, or have been, students. Each of them has their own way of interacting with their peers and the adults around them to achieve the highest level of education they can possibly get. For example, some people learn visually, while others learn through auditorily or tactilly. Personally, I tend to learn through my visual and audial senses. Seeing and hearing something at the same time helps it stick in my head, which, in turn, allows me to retain more of the lesson being taught in my head. Generally, I work hard and am very determined to learn things in every class, even if I don’t think it is interesting. When I really like a class, I spend less time studying it, since I get very absorbed in the lessons being taught and remember almost everything. In classes I don’t like as much, I have to spend more time studying, since I zone out and don’t remember what was taught that day. I dance five days a week, and do ballet, pointe, lyrical, and modern dance. I’ve been dancing since I was two years old, and although it takes up a huge part of my life, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Because of that, I am often very stressed and very tired. I also love to be with my friends and family. I am not able to see most of my family, since they live in Argentina and Israel, but I do try to see my grandparents as much as I can. Over the summer, I work at a summer camp. It is honestly the best experience I could ever have. I love working with kids, and my coworkers are like my second family. Working with children taught me so much more than I thought it would. It has taught me how to be patient, how to be inspirational, and how to be empathetic. It has shaped me into the person I am
Often, I feel as though when I need to write in a more formal manner, I could easily just look up higher level vocabulary instead of memorizing it. Another thing that disinterests me is when teachers lecture about something that is irrelevant to the class, or get off topic. Instead, I appreciate and expect teachers to provide meaningful facts when debating certain issues and to always make sure that the discussion is relevant. When the class is taught in a way like this, it is usually the one that I am most excited to go to. My favorite classes are usually decided by how much I like the teacher, so usually I consider my favorites to be mathematics or english courses. I also hope to join a club this year, I am very interested in doing community service or helping people in need so I hope to find something along those
Since the age of two, I have been dancing. I have been involved in lyrical and classical ballet, contemporary, pointe, hiphop, jazz and tap. When I turned 6 I also took up gymnastics. Through middle school I danced, and did gymanstics as well as softball and soccer. I loved these sports but when high school hit, I had to pick one and I chose cheerleading. I chose this sport because it was not only a extraordinary team athletically but they were extremely involved with the community. We had fundraisers for less fortunate children multiple times and even got to interact with them every winter. The leadership role on the cheer team taught me so much, we lead the entire student body to have school spirit and respect at the football games every friday night. My senior year I decided to switch back to dance and tried out for my high school dance team, and made it! It has been such a blessing to me by showing me even more leadership and how to serve others at our school and in the community.
My first college English class was ENC 1101 at the State College of Florida. In this course, I learned a vast amount of information about writing, reading, and grammar. When I first walked into ENC 1101 in August, I expected the class to be like any other English class in High School; with rushed busy work and a lot of useless tests and quizzes. However, throughout each week of the semester, Professor Knutsen’s class made me beg to differ. This class was not like any other high school English class. In this class I actually learned important information and did not do work just to complete it. ... all, everyone is different in their own respective way and some people might have the ability to simply comprehend all they hear, unlike myself I feel like I teach myself more on my own or with others than if I were sitting down and taking notes. The only problem with just listening during a lecture is that people don’t retain all that information over a long period of time. Most of the information is stored in the brain until that test comes and all the information leaves when you hand in the test.
People will often say that the type of the class you have depends upon the teacher. James B. Stockdale once said, "A liberally educated person meets new ideas with curiosity and fascination. An illiberally educated person meets new ideas with fear." In other words, a person who is taught with a sense of empowerment and real-world ideals will learn better, and will readily accept knowledge than someone who is not taught in this way. A person will struggle and be unwilling to learn if they are taught in a strict manner, and are only given facts from the subject area that is being taught.

In this insight, I scored an 8 for Part A, and a 0 for Part B, which meant that I was especially engaged in my favorite class and especially disengaged in my least favorite class. While I expected these results, it was shocking to me that I really made no effort to study on a regular basis and put little to no effort into this class. In taking this assessment, I realized that it is not just the professor’s fault or the subject matter’s fault for disliking the class. This course has taught me many things about writing and also a lot about confidence in my own skill as a writer. I was not looking forward to this class in the beginning of this semester, but I am really glad that I took it. It has been a great learning experience to take this class.
I had my first dance recital on the day I turned four. Now I don’t remember anything from that day, but I believe that that day is when I learned I loved to perform. I’ve been taking dance lessons since then, and many things that I do now involve performing in some type of way.

I think I just might have to study even though it 's no fun and I can 't concentrate . I have friends like Matt and Deb who if i 'm writing an essay and get distracted by my phone will nicely ask me “So Rique how is that essay going?” just because they want me get it done so we can leave. I might wanna keep them around for next semester. This course taught me that I should surround myself with people who share the same interests as me like Leela and Zay who are also Art Education majors. Some people that like the classes that others don’t like might want to change it. They might say “You can get your work done and have more time to read.” Some of us don’t like to read and get work done fast like they do. Taking you time on your work will allow you to get a better grade.
It does this because it gives me a different perspective on things. Books can’t help me with difficult problems. Friends also give me some advice and I decide what the right thing to do is. Learning is difficult when either the teacher can’t explain it well for ME to understand or the teacher is talking really fast. I have an example in seventh grade, where my teacher would explain it really fast to the whole class, and it was difficult for me to understand, but once the teacher explain it a little more thoroughly and I have some quiet time at home to review it, I can pick it up. I guess you can say my struggle is that I need people to go over the topic thoroughly and not just skim through it. On the other hand, a strength I have is good persuasive skill. By the second half of the term, my emotional state got better as I became involved in various outdoor groups at my school. In addition, I also adjusted my studying habit that I got so used to for the last few years. Instead of simply reading off lectures from the power point, I spent time after class visiting office hour to talk with my professors about concepts that I didn’t understand. Together with doing more problem sets, I was able to get a B- in this class, considering that there were only two exams in this class. As for my other classes, I managed to create a schedule so that I would spend at least 7 hours going over the materials before and after lecture for each class, and the results turned out just as I expected, with an average grade of A- . Regardless, I wished I could have been more involved in study groups to get a much better result. At the time, I always found myself trying to go over the materials alone in the library, instead of working in groups with my friends. But soon after, I came to realize that working together could have speed up the learning process much faster. Instead of spending valuable time puzzling over complicated concepts, I could learn quickly by simply asking a question.
