The temperature dropped to a frigid ten degrees fahrenheit with a -15 degree wind chill factor in Title Town. The only thing easily seen in the fog was my teammate’s and the thousands of spectator’s breath hovering in the air like a ghost. The championship game was set to start in 15 minutes. My flag football team and I sat on the Green Bay Packers sideline because we won our final game. I eagerly watched my favorite wide receiver, Jordy Nelson, catch the football when suddenly Aaron Rodgers approached me and started talking to me. At first he just discussed the throwing technique that he uses because we were both quarterbacks, but when I told him that I threw for two touchdowns and ran for one he seemed surprised and asked for my autograph. …show more content…
The first drive of the second half advanced as planned for the Packers until they met the 50 yard line. It was 2 and 5 and Aaron dropped back for a pass. Jordy and Randall ran switch verticals and both the safety and the corner followed Randall leaving Jordy wide open. I saw Jordy from a million miles away and thought Aaron read my mind, but shockingly he threw an incomplete pass towards Randall Cobb. After that play, I stormed past the security guards to the play caller and told him to run the same play but try throwing the ball to Jordy this time. I was positive that the coach ignored me as he called in the play. Aaron dropped back again and Randall and Jordy ran the same route. This time Aaron threw the ball and it screamed past the linebackers and into the delicate hands of Jordy Nelson for a touchdown. The crowd and the sideline crazily celebrated and the coach turned to thank me. Instead of kicking the extra point, the Packers made the bold move of going for two. Aaron got under the center and snapped the ball then he faked the handoff and ran behind the left tackle earning the points. The Packers now led 15-14 with 3 minutes left in the third quarter. Then with 30 seconds left in the game the Cowboys had the ball on the Packers 30 yard line. They decided to take a knee and use a timeout with five seconds remaining to make sure the Packers didn’t start another drive. Tony got under the center and looked over to Dez Bryant, his number 1 receiver, and I knew immediately the ball would be thrown to him. The ball snapped and Dez ran vertical and soon the ball followed him, he jumped up to catch the ball and the stadium was so silent that I thought I walked into church on Monday morning for a second. Dez magically placed one on the ball but Tramon Williams broke the connection ending the game. The stadium erupted like a volcano with happiness and the
The Bears, led by 3rd string QB Matt Barkley, found themselves down big at the beginning of the 4th quarter. The Bears fought back until they were down 27 to 21 with under a minute to play with the ball placed inside the Titan 10 yard line. Barkley's first and second down throws each fell incomplete. On third & goal, Barkley saw Bellamy wide open in the right shallow side of the end zone. Barkley hit Bellamy with a bullet pass right between the numbers of his jersey, but the pass fell incomplete after Bellamy failed to make the catch. One play later, Barkley's fourth down pass to the back of the end zone fell to the ground and the referee's whistle blew both the play and the Bears' hopes of winning the game dead. But even with the displeasure from the fans, there still might be hope for Bellamy's
Before the start of the game I was told to guard their best receiver because nobody else could keep up with him. Even though i was fast, I was definitely not as fast as him. He was like lightning, speeding past me and making quick, subtle turns that were hard to predict. I was so tired from guarding him all game that by the end of the first half I felt like collapsing. When they hiked the ball, I made sure that I tried my best to stop him from getting the ball. Without failing to surprise me, he predicted my next move and feinted left and then turning right. I fell for the trick, and his quarterback threw the ball to him. He caught it and started running down the field. I sprinted after him. I put the rest of my energy into this run. As I got closer and closer to him, an idea formed in my head. When I got close enough I would dive for his flag, hoping to pull it before he reached the end zone. It was not a very intelligent idea, but it could’ve worked. When I was almost touching him, I dove. I missed the flag by millimeters. As I hit the ground I heard a loud ‘POP’ in my shoulder. Instantly I knew that I had broken a
Because of some of the circumstances that make me who I am, it is hard to say I have any one definitive home. Instead, I have had two true homes, ever since I was a young child. What makes this even more of a conundrum is that my homes have always had little in common, even though they are only a few hundred miles apart. Between the big city of Houston, Texas, and the small town of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, I have grown up in two very different towns that relate to one another only in the sense that they have both raised me.
When the 2013 NFL football season started, I had enormous expectations for the season. The season started off with the Seahawks on fire, and they never cooled down, finishing with the most wins in the NFL. One tremendous play that I recall from the season is Golden Tate’s taunting of the St. Louis Rams. Russell Wilson and the receivers had been struggling, until Tate, a Seahawks receiver, caught an 80-yard touchdown pass, chucked deep down the field by Wilson, to take the lead. Not only did Tate catch the ball in mid-stride, streaking down the field, he also...
The horn blew and the game started, Dedham won the face off and is running down the field at a faster pace than I was used to. They shot the ball! I couldn’t move my stick quick enough to save it, so I threw my body in front of it and got hit right in the shoulder. It hurt a lot, but what I hadn’t realized was that it hit my shoulder and reflected ten feet away from the net where my player caught it and ran down the field and scored. The other team didn’t know what hit them. It was the half now and the score was three to nothing in our favor. Our couch told us that we needed to keep up the good work.
The Panthers had a quick 3 and out and again, the Browns drove down the field and scored another touchdown! It was now 28-17, Panthers with the football back for their 3rd possession of the 2nd half. Cam Newton's pass was then intercepted by the veteran cornerback Joe Haden, and returned for a Brown touchdown, 28-24 Panthers. Finally, on the next drive the Panthers got something going and drove down the field for a touchdown, 35-24 Panthers. The Browns then drove down the field before hitting a 54 yard field goal to make it 35-27, Panthers with 7 minutes left in the Super Bowl! The next possession the Panthers were driving deep into Browns territory when Bradley Boddy-Calhoun intercepted Cam Newton's pass and it was Brown's ball on their 17 yard line. Cardale Jones and the Browns drove down the field and scored a touchdown, but instead of kicking the PAT, the went for two with Isaiah Crowell and got it! The Browns were beating the Panthers 36-35 with 2:15 remaining. The next drive the Panthers went down the field and on 4th down kicking a 45 yard field goal to make it 38-36, Panthers with 20 seconds remaining. The Cleveland Browns got the ball back and on 1st down, they threw an incomplete pass, but Cardale Jones was injured on the play. So, with 10 seconds left in the game they put in Terrelle Pryor as quarterback. With 10 seconds remaining in the game, he took the snap, dropped back and lofted the ball up to Corey Coleman, and he caught it in stride, he was at the 40 the 30 the 20 the 10 Touchdown! Browns! The Browns have won the super bowl! After the game, Terrelle Pryor was interviewed, The reported asked him,”What are you going to do now since you’ve won the Super Bowl?” Pryor responded saying, “I’m Going to take my family to Disney
I enjoyed the praise and cheers from my teammates that are like my brothers. They all contributed to my success and lifted my high as they knew that this moment I would never forget for the rest of my life. I honestly did not want to leave the field that night so I meandered and fooled around with everyone for the longest time after the game. After the game I met up with my mother and father as they seemed to look more proud than I was at the time. They talked to me and told me how great I have become over the years of hard work and dedication.
“Can the receivers get far enough down the field? Rodgers in trouble… It’s gonna get their he turned 32 yesterday does he have a vintage moment in him? In the end zone and it is caught for the win! Richard Rodgers with a walk off touchdown a game ender for the packers!!!!” This was one of many great plays Aaron Rodgers had with the Green Bay Packers. For me personally as a football fan I look back at the greats Jerry Rice, Brett Favre, Ladainian Tomlinson and so on. But no football player has had a bigger impact on me than Aaron Rodgers each game he plays he looks 100 times better than the last. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers influenced many aspects of my life by showing examples of hope, courage, and skill. Aaron Rodgers shows on the field a sense
The score was 20-21, the Vikings were losing to the Cowboys with 3 seconds left, and they were at their own 47 yard line. The winner of the game would advance to the Super Bowl. Sam Bradford the Vikings star quarterback took the snap and handed the ball to to the Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson began to run the the ball to the right side, but then he did something that nobody expected. Patterson stopped and threw the ball deep to wide receiver Adam Thielen. He caught the ball at the 10 yard line surrounded by two defenders. Right before being tackled Thielen lateraled the ball back Stefon Diggs, who ran untouched into the endzone for the winning touchdown.
In the article “How I Learned to Love Football,” Felisa Rogers, a freelance writer, details the transformation from going from a high school student, who did not care about football, to an adult who now somewhat understands football and has formed numerous opinions about it. Rogers attributes the surprising conversion of the fact that her husband was such a big Green Bay Packers fan, explaining that because of her love for him she saw numerous of things that brought him happiness and comfort.
It was time for the game to start and I couldn't wait through the whole game Packer where just barley ahead of the Lions. About two hours into the game my feet where starting to numb out from the cold but I couldn't leave the score was so close. The time was down to the last minute and Packers were ahead by a field goal as time ran close to the end people where leaving so we decided to do the same. The packers ended up winning I was glad they did but I still had a long walk back to our car in the parking garage we parked
I recall looking into the passionate eyes of one of my fellow seniors and telling him, “We have twenty-four minutes of football left in our lives, let’s make them count.” Our team continued to resist the embarrassment of helplessness in the second half, but it appeared obvious that we were outmatched. We lacked size, strength, speed, and proper teaching; four things that highly increase your chances of winning a football game. With around two minutes left in the football game Newton had the ball. I remember thinking “This will be the last drive of my life.” The temperature continued to drop, and we were losing forty five to
The game was neck and neck, as the first quarter ended in a tie. I remember the crowd going dead silent when Aaron Rodgers and the offense were out on the field, and getting very loud when the Packers defense took the field. Whenever the Vikings were on third down, they would play the famous “go pack go” chant over the P.A. system. This increased my already over-the-top excitement. Going into halftime, the Vikings scored a field goal to take the lead by three. Everyone, including myself felt tense. But knowing there was still a whole half to go, the Packers could easily come
Riley, our starting quarterback, placed his hands on the helmet of the right tackle, as he did every play. He called the play looking straight into my eyes signaling the pass was coming to me. My entire body tingled with excitement as I ran to the left of the field. I could feel my cleats dig into the soft, freshly cut field as I took my stance. I looked up into the sky seeing only white lights which created the stage for the football field. As I brought my head down slowly to see the white eyes of the defender across from me, my heart beat slowed and I was still, in peace for the short moment. The quarterback hiked the ball and I began in pursuit; shifting, juking to get away from my defender. We were side-by-side running down the field as the ball was thrown into the air, coming strait to me. I jumped up and became airborne, snagging it from the lit up, night sky. Falling back with the ball secured into my arms, I felt my defenders full weight push into my left leg. A snap rang out as we hit the ground together and I looked down to see a large bump sticking straight left out of my
The play was "Red 334"which is a run to our halfback, me, out of our dive series. I crouched over the ball as I jetted past the quarterback and ran the play so we could observe the changes we needed to make. I let out a sigh of relief because we were finished with the most dreaded part of practice; well, only until someone complained about not knowing their job on one of our pass plays. Coach Nelson undoubtedly decided we needed to run through the final pass play before we perfected our defense. The play was quietly called in the huddle with intentions of getting it right. I ran the play through my mind while I tried to remember what the snap count was and what I was supposed to do for that play. The ball was snapped and I jolted to the left of our team's quarterback to set up his backside protection. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed the defensive end raging toward the quarterback. I intensely stepped into him while lowering my body and exploded through his shoulder pads sending him stumbling into the line's pass protection.
