Have you ever faced a challenge that is hard to overcome? The answer is probably yes. Was it an adrenaline rush? Maybe so because mine was. On a Wednesday, August 5th, at about 8:00 in the morning in the summer of 2015 I decided to call my friend to see if I could come over or if he wanted to hang out today. Not to long after that he offered me to come over to his house and I said “yes, I will come over for a little bit.” Therefore, I get in the shower, eat, put some clothes on, and then I put gas in my dirt bike. Shortly after that I realize one of my tires is flat and I also need to put some oil into my dirt bike so I could get to his house safely and efficiently. About thirty minutes later I am able to pump up my tire and I also put oil
into my dirt bike. However, there was one problem I put the wrong oil in it so I let the wrong oil out. Therefore, I look in my shed for the correct oil that is needed for my dirt bike and I put it in there. After this I start up my dirt bike and let it warm up a bit because it is very old. While I’m letting my dirt bike warm up I call my friend again to confirm that I’m allowed to come over his house and I won’t get into trouble for doing so. About an hour later I get on my dirt bike and I drive out of my yard which I was a little sketchy about because I could barely see at this time in the morning. I proceed to go onto backroads where I think it would be safe and I plan to be extra careful because usually deer jump out onto the road where I would be driving at. I got halfway into Mardela and I run into a patch of woods, which made the roads very slippery so I was a little scared. In addition to that it was very cold and dark in the patch of woods so I could barely see. By this time I was almost in the main town of Mardela everything was going great and I still had a sufficient amount of gas. I rode through another patch of woods which made my ride even more slippery than a couple of minutes ago, but this time around I’m on a turn and I almost fall off of my dirt bike which scared me half to death. About ten minutes after that happened I arrive at my friend’s house successfully with no trouble at all. While I’m at my friend’s house we played videogames, rode the dirt bikes, and played football outside. When we went back into the house their mom offered me something to eat and I say “yes I would love something to eat.” Their mom fixed a homemade pizza which was probably the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. I congratulate their mom and tell her how good the pizza was. Later on I tell my friends “goodbye”, but they insisted I stayed for a little longer but I couldn’t. Therefore, I get on my dirt bike, start it up, and then I leave. I proceed to get on backroads again where I think it’s safe. However, it wasn’t when I’m almost at my house I see a police officer, but we were driving on the opposite side of the road. At first I thought he was going to pull me over, but oddly enough he didn’t. At this point I am relieved and I go home with no other trouble. Besides the fact that my tire is going flat again. The lesson of this story is don’t do something if you think you are going to get into trouble or risk your safety. No matter how rigorous the challenge is rise above it and do the best you can!
I was feeling really good in this mud. My new bike was cornering perfect and hooked up so well. I was flying by guys! Half of the guys in the practice raced open class and were on 450s. I raced the lites class on a 250. You could tell if you passed a 450 just by the deep thumping sound that they made. After passing 15 to 20 guys I got really squirrely in the whoops. Almost losing it and going down, a couple guys closed up the gap I had between us. I proceeded riding not letting up a bit. Coming around the first corner on my last lap, I passed a rider on a 450. On the exit of the corner my front tire cross rutted and I slid out. In my mind I had to get up very quickly. I jumped up, grabbed my handle bars. I had my bike up and was about to hop on. All of the sudden I am on the ground and there is the guy I just passed going over the bars after hitting me. I tried to get up but I couldn’t. Trying and trying my legs were not cooperating. Bikes were flying around me. I finally crawled off the track not getting any yellow flags from the track officials. Finally, one of the track guys came over to me. I was very angry at the time. He asked me, “Are you okay?” I responded in a shout, “Do I look okay? I just crawled off the track with 20
Everyone has difficult obstacles in their lives. I have had a few myself and they each have changed me for the better. My most profound experience was being repeatedly molested as a child. I wasn't aware of exactly what was happening to me. I didn't know being touched was wrong. I just knew how disgusting it made me feel, but I didn't tell anyone at the time. I shared this publicly as an adult to help other parents realize that children need to be protected. It was a long journey to reach to the point where I could speak about my experiences with anyone. These experiences from my childhood affected me deeply; however, I have overcome them, learned from them and I have contributed at a higher level because of them.
Maybe it’s the fact that I tend to stay in my room all weekend, which leads to people thinking I’m studying when in reality I am probably binge watching a TV show or maybe it’s my glasses, but most people who don’t know me too well assume that I am smart. Now that is a great thing for me because I don’t have to try as hard to impress them, but I end up finding myself in a bit of a problem. The problem is that everyone thinks I enjoy admiring school textbooks. But the truth is I’m usually admiring my Justin Bieber poster on my bedroom wall. Ever since I was in sixth grade I’ve been a huge fan of Bieber. His music always brought a feeling of calmness and back in the day his “never say never” motto, was what I lived by. I might still be living by that motto because I’ve decided to write this essay
As you can imagine I was contributing my fair share of all the clamor, but after about seven hours it soon became apparent that the effect of energy drinks would wear off. If you could have been there and looked around you would have seen some people reading, other talking amongst themselves; however, I was playing halo on my laptop. About two hours later after just getting into Colorado everything bad you can imagine started happening. I was asleep at this time, but when I heard the loud BOOM!, SNAP!, and HISS, I was instantly awake and wondering what had just happened. At first everyone thought it was just a blow out, but after our youth pastor got out and checked all the tires it soon became clear that there was a much bigger problem at hand. So our youth pastor decided we should call a mechanic and a tow truck, the problem was deciding if we should call...
I remember the year my Highschool team went to the state championship. My team the Kansas City Hawks went up against the twelve time champs The St.Louis Kings. What made them twelve time champs was us. Every time my team went to the championship The Kings met us there. All twelve times The King where the victors. January 25,2024 The Hawks were on a warpath for that Championship.
Many people think up north is fun, I am not any different . The ride to get up there took one hour. When we got up there we unpacked and ate burgers for lunch. After we were done eating, we went to go get gas for my friend´s dirt bike and go-kart. When we got to the gas station, we saw our other friend Justin After we got back from getting gas, me and Travis filled up his go kart and dirt bike with gas. When they both were done getting filled, Travis got in the go-kart and I got on the dirt bike.
Option #2: The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
All I can think about is getting ahead of my opponents on the grass straighaway before entering the woods. Doing so I took the idea of pacing myself and tossed it directly out the window. About 2 miles into the race my rear tire is completely flat. I jog alongside my bike to minimize the loss of time as I wait for another racer to come along with a replacement innertube. An expert class racer sped past me and slid to a stop to generously gift me two innertubes. I wasted another 10 minutes replacing the innertube and redistributing air to the tire using my underpowered portable pump my mother threw into the car last minute. Off i go again, just starting to feel a nice cramp in my lower
It was a sunny day. The leftovers of last week’s snowstorm still blanketed most of the surrounding area. I decided, after straggling about the house for nearly two hours, lethargy slowly creeping in, that I would go for a drive. I leaped in my trusty old Maverick and roared away. The Maverick, which I bought in 1975, was dark blue, (my favorite color). It was a steal and only ten years past its prime. It was a good, trustworthy car and until today, I had not had any problems with it. This was a spontaneous kind of getaway, so nothing was planned, no basket of food prepared, nor did I make any other preparations. Living in the city can be depressing so getting away from the concrete jungle for a few hours was a welcomed escape. I have not lived in this city for very long, although I knew the names of the adjoining towns, there were a few that I did not know. However, being the adventurer that I am, I drove off in a direction that I have never been. I do not know why I did not think to look at the gas gauge before I left perhaps I was too preoccupied with the thought of fleeing that I did not care.
There is a point in everyone’s life when they step back and realize “I can’t do this anymore, it’s ruining my life”. Many of my friends have started smoking cigarettes while drinking at a very young age, and continue to use this drug currently and don’t realize the affect it has on their future. While I have been smart enough to avoid smoking, I haven’t been as wise at making decisions when it comes to drinking. The amount of partying I’ve done in college has taken over my life, and has had a huge impact on my grades. Changing my drinking habits and continuing to avoid cigarettes will enable me to be the best I can be for the rest of my college experience.
We were screwed. We did not have an extra tire. We were stuck on the side of the road. It was horrible, at least there was no more bugs swarming us. All of sudden an angel came to save us; a road side assistance truck pulled up behind us to see if we needed help.
Every one has there challenges some harder than others some easier but in my case it was pretty hard for me to learn. Mine was learnig how to play basket ball and it was very hard for me because all my life I have wrestled so it was a big change to go to basketball. As hard as it was learning how to play I had many people that did not want me to play like my dad and my wrestling coaches did not want me to play. But it was not long before I picked up basketball I was pretty good for my first time playing. Basketball was very fun
Every time I had an activity to accomplish, the adversity that I've been through always ended up being the fuel to power me to complete that activity. It really shaped my character as a whole because it gave me another reason to work harder. I realized that instead of feeling bad about being a black sheep, I should feel good about it because God made me unique. Academically, one of the challenges that I've faced was failing my math class in eighth grade.
He said he just need a tune up and some work done on the carburetor. It was a little older car, but it too, like my Camaro, was very nice. He was a busy man and asked if I would pick it up directly from his house and bring it to my father’s shop for him. I complied with his request and set off for his house. Once I got there, I climbed into his car and tried to start it. It didn’t start, and was making some weird noises. I got out of the car and began going through a checklist on why it wouldn’t start. The car had enough gas, and the battery was at full charge. I decided to check the oil. I opened the hood and pulled the oil dipstick out of the tube. I just about passed out. The car was out of oil! I just ruined this mans car. I committed this mistake, which means I was responsible to fix it. I called the owner of the car and told him what happened. He was not happy to say the least. He used some very harsh and inappropriate words, and I promised him that I would fix his car within the next week. Now fixing a car that has been run out of oil is a very time consuming and costly task, so I was a slight bit
