Personal Narrative: Thanksgiving Vacation

Every year since I was five, my family had traveled to our cabin in the mountains for Thanksgiving vacation. In recent years, my mom decided to make a change in our tradition. We traveled to Texas two years ago to visit my uncle, and this past year my mom decided that we were going to the beach. We packed our suitcases, loaded the car, and headed to Ocean City, Maryland.

My family stayed at a campground about twenty minutes from the boardwalk. We had been to this place before, but in the summer. It was a nice spot to vacation, except for the fact that I had a cast on my leg and needed crutches. The most difficult part of the vacation was trying to get into the camper. Since there were stairs, it was difficult for me to get inside. My

parents had to lift me up every time I wanted to go in the camper. My bed was also on the top bunk, which was even more of a hassle. I just wanted to leave the campground and go back to my house.

As the week went on I felt more homesick. My mom suggested that we went to the beach to walk on the boardwalk for a change in scenery. When we arrived and started to look around, I did not realize how far we were going to walk. After being on the beach for a couple of hours, I had looked past the emotions I was feeling and began to feel grateful. I was glad that I was able to travel for another holiday, and spend it with the people I love.
