The Olympic Games are great events that bring the of the best athletes from every single country on Earth together, and if I was to participate in any sport for the United States, I would choose synchronized high dive. This sport requires accuracy and timing that I can only dream of, as I am not the most punctual, nor accurate on most things. I think that because the time and need for precision would be so important in such a big chunk of my life, I could bring it over to the other parts. Another reason I would participate in a sport that is so far off the ground is that I might find a place to think while plummeting into water at an alarming rate. High diving the closest thing to flying, and birds seem to have a stress free life, so I would
Demonstrate Relevance: Sense the summer Olympics are around the corner I thought I would talk about the sport that goes unrecognized so that maybe all of you might give it a chance.
I could come to a resort and strap in my bindings for fun, and competition, to put the adrenaline through my veins. I had dreamed of professionally snowboarding ever since beginning to tirelessly learn how to turn my snowboard down the bunny hill slope. This bunny hill slope once seemed to be as tall as a giant but now I found myself to be the man on top of the X- Games slopestyle course. Now I had won a gold medal and had become a big name in the snowboarding business. I went from being a kid with high hopes of being on top and showing the world that anything can be done if you put your mind to it. The sport of snowboarding is what truly makes me happy and competing in large competitions is what the sport is about. These competitions would be the drive for my experience in the terrain park with friends, or just trying to progress my skills on my own. Ultimately, Competing in snowboard competitions as a professional snowboarder would prove anything can be done if you put your mind to it as it would drive me in life to have my dream job, all while being with friends and having an overwhelming passion for what I do for a
That thing was probably the most horrible thing I have ever seen. I have never been in contact with such a space consuming thing. It moved with a lack of elegance and fluidity. Snowboarders are probably the most annoying people on the earth. Don’t we have enough board related sports? Who had even invented the art of snowboarding? I had first learned to ski at the age of six, and had never even thought of learning how to snowboard. I was even annoyed at other snowboarder’s presence on the slopes and their laid back way of life. All I knew was skiing, and I loved it. When I asked my family what they thought about my skiing they said that I had a certain unique touch to it. Ever since I had learned how to ski, I had just wanted to get better and I was
In the past the Olympic games were used as a way for the Greeks to honor their gods. Today the games are not an honoring but more of a social gathering. What’s great about the games today is that everyone has equal opportunity to compete. No matter your gender, size, ethnicity, or wealth, all you have to do is work hard and
I’ve always been the type of person that truly enjoys athletics and have participated in nearly all sports offered to me. I started playing sports in elementary with club softball and basketball. As I entered my middle and high school years I was able to add the school sanctioned sports to my list of activities. This afforded me the opportunity of competing in volleyball, basketball, golf, track and softball. The camaraderie and life lessons of sports seemed invaluable to me.

I love volleyball even though it has not always been easy. I have had a lot of problems during my volleyball journey that have helped me grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. I started playing volleyball in fifth grade on the middle school team and am now playing on JV. I did not get a lot of playing time when I first started, but I practiced and learned the basics of the game. I developed a love for the game with a great group of girls that I looked up to, during my first season. I have not always had the best team and coach, though.
The Olympic games is a series of events that takes place every two and four years that originated in Greece to honor the Greek gods (Cartledge 1). As a Senior on my Water Polo team, it is important for me to act as a leader. Incoming Freshmen look up to the Seniors they play with, and my teammates and coaches rely on me to help resolve disputes, and facilitate practice. The Clovis Unified School District has several schools with great athletic programs. Unfortunately, Clovis East, my school, has always been the runt of the litter. I have played Water Polo at East since I was in the seventh grade, and never once have we beaten a Clovis school in a League game. The whole culture at East has always held a defeated attitude towards other Clovis schools. We shouldn’t beat them, so therefore we can’t. However, the attitude is changing, we are becoming much more confident as a team, and we have

Have you ever had a moment in time that seems like minutes or hours even though it was only a few seconds? Have you ever seen everything before you play out in slow motion, where you are aware of everything around you, yet not knowing what was going on? I have, and as I look back on it, I feel very blessed and protected. On March 21, 1987, I decided to take a little swim in our swimming pool and almost drowned.
The Ancient Olympics were huge in introducing sports and events that we now play. The sports that were played in the Ancient Olympics consisted of boxing, chariot racing, riding, pentathlon, discus, javelin, jump, running, and wrestling. All those sport would have never been played without the Greeks introducing them. These sports have become very popular and a lot of people play them. For example wrestling can be played at very young ages and all the way through high school. Another example is running, jumping, javelin, and discus which are all played in high school and some even in elementary.
When I was a university student about two years ago, I enrolled in a scuba diving course. My scuba diving teacher had a big surprise: I didn’t know how to swim. In fact, I had a big fear of water. When I was a child, my parents tried to help me, so they made me take many swimming courses. Although I tried hard, I did not learn to swim. When I enrolled in the scuba diving course, I was still afraid of water. Every day when I entered the swimming pool, I battled with my fear. Fortunately, my courage won every time. Finally, one day while I was practising my dive, I realized that I did very well. So, finally, after six months of hard work, I completed the course. It is true that I was always the worst of the group, but in my own evaluation,
The one thing that an athlete doesn’t want to hear is that they cannot play their favorite sport because of an injury they recently got. This actually happened to me when I injured my knee while lifting high amount of weight. After my lifting class I was walking perfectly and prepared to get through the rest of the day. Only an hour later I couldn’t walk with my right leg and had to limp through the rest of the day. Two hours after I was limping and trying not to cry from the sharp, acute sting in my right knee.
